Create Your Own Album Cover

The First Impression

Music and Art goes hand in hand.

Album covers can be extremely expressive and convey the message of the album in a number of creative ways.

Album Art Within a small square, it needs to

include:

The artist and album name

The style (colors, texture) that properly represents the content inside

Artistic details

Possibly the artist him or herself, or a symbol that represents them

The album’s cover image was inspired by the idea that people tend to conceal their true feelings, for fear of “getting burned.”

Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here1975

Radiohead – Hail to the Thief

Gallows: In The Belly of a Shark

Your Album Cover

Rough Draft

1.Draw a square that takes up almost the entire paper, then begin developing your image.

2.Think about which Design Elements you are implementing (line, shape, form, color, texture, value, space)

3.Think about which Design Principle(s) you are using.

Ask Yourself:1. Do my title and my image

make sense together?

2. Is there some aspect that is personal or autobiographical?

3. What can I do to improve the Elements I’ve included?

o line, shape/form, color, value, texture, space

4. Can my composition be classified as one of the Principles of Design?

o balance, emphasis, unity, variety, rhythm, pattern
