Within Anna's practice she creates situations for herself, the public and other artists to explore places differently: often experimenting with leading and instruction by creating manuals, instructions, kits or leading guided tours. Anna is a Director at AirSpace Gallery. Anna Francis is course leader on the BA Fine Art course at Staffordshire University.

Using arts with people to improve lives and places. The work rarely takes places in theatres or galleries. Instead, we have worked on the street, on the water, on the beach, in woods, in schools, youth clubs and village halls, up mountains and alongside canals, with people of all ages, from pre-schoolers to people in their eighties. We welcome the challenge of working with people who are excluded from other opportunities, and particularly like to mix groups of people from differing backgrounds together to create new work.

Danny Wells celebrates the history of Victorian and early 20th century Britain. In 2004 he set up ‘Breathing Life into History’ which now offers over twenty five talks as well as a range of courses and tours. Danny is a qualified history teacher and has an MA in Architectural History from Keele University. A major focus of his work is the Derbyshire Dales and Staffordshire Moorlands where he has now lived for over thirty years. Born and bred in the East End of London, this is another focus for his work, of which he is currently writing two books. I enjoy “unlocking the past”, discovering, stimulating and creating a greater understanding of the past. The work includes aspects of architecture, art, local history, literary heritage and social history.

I work with different materials and processes for whatever suits the project. I have created a fashion show with recycled materials with Richard Clark Primary, created life size scarecrow sculptures and a 5 ft mosaic with Bridgtown Primary School and converted a corner of a library into a fairy tale reading corner from textiles with Whittington Primary School. I run community activities as a part time Arts Officer and with the Untitled Art Group. I have also recently set up Henhouse Children's Art School where we run Saturday classes in Lichfield with opportunities for children to gain accredited Arts Awards. Therefore I can tailor make an art activity for and with you!

My work has always combined my love for mixing stitch, clay and found objects. I experiment using traditional methods in contemporary ways by beaching, inking, burning and trapping materials to build up interesting layers of tactile surface. My colour palette developed from my annual trips to a fisherman’s village in Portugal, there I escape into a world of flaky paint and sea washed stone walls. I am inspired by weathered objects and places with a sense of story that to me are full of character - this is a subtle but key theme in my work. I use paper clay, recycled fabrics, vintage haberdashery and yarns to create wearable pieces of art and bespoke interior pieces.

Workshop Experience

We deliver professional workshops for schools, colleges etc and for members of the community, using artists from our local community and from Africa. Our workshops are a mixture of education, e.g. African history, the practice of playing drums, instruments, dance, and performance. Over the last 13 years we have been able to develop "an end of day, or end of course performance" for our participants, which we feel is a vital ingredient of our work.

“…the woman who was as small as a pepper pot was queen of all the crows in the forest…” - Alf Proysen My illustrative practice explores the importance of storytelling and imagination. I draw with wire, pencil and stitch; intricately working dense areas of traditional embroidery and needlepoint stitches into metal gauzes and figuratively manipulated wire lines. I combine my hand embroidered wire work with observational drawing and screen printing techniques onto fabric and paper grounds to create contemporary art pieces. Drawing on folk tales, childhood stories and surreal imaginings, I harness instinctive feelings and traditional craft processes to create considered folkloric narratives that intrigue.

Using a range of media my work is concerned with the appearance and actuality of the surfaces that surround us. My paintings, using collaged recycled and pre-prepared papers, drawings in chalks or graphite, and collagraphs, celebrate pattern and the idiosyncrasies of sight. Through several on-going series, the work is sometimes searchingly observational but also a product of rememberings and the inner eye. To achieve the richness of texture and colour associated with my work, I use many techniques more usually associated with printmaking such as collage, wiping, scratching and breaking into the surface to hold the colour and enable patination. A precarious balance between process, materials, and intervention encourages my work to take an active role in its own creation.

Within my work I study insects and combine printmaking methods with paper cutting techniques to create my own entomology collections. Entitled ‘Paperology’ this is an ongoing series of work that combines images sourced from my book collection and carefully selected antique papers, together with my passion for print, I produce work which embraces my inspirations.

I am a writer with 14 books and plays to my name. My last book, the Bone Mill, is a visceral coming-of-age novel set in the pottery industries of Stoke-on-Trent in the 1820s. At the moment, I’m working on three commissioned books on writing technique/craft/skills, including a book on character creation. I have plenty of experience throughout education, having been a school teacher, a university lecturer and a visiting writer in hospitals, youth clubs, residential homes, museums, etc. and a writer-in-residence. I’m happy to work with children and teachers, including Teachers’ days on the new A-level in Creative Writing.

I am a screen printer, who offers art workshops sharing the skills I have learnt in this field. I have been running screen print workshops at Unit Twelve Gallery for the past 5 years, but have also worked with school groups and for other galleries. In this time I have refined my workshop practice (and more importantly the equipment I need!), so that I am now 'on the road' and able to come to you to run a workshop. I offer a full day workshop for a max of 10 participants (space dependent), demonstrating how to screen print, using newsprint stencils to create a 2/3 colour limited run of prints. The emphasis of my workshop is on making this process accessible so that people could set up at home and continue to print for themselves, therefore offering skills for life.

I graduated in 1997 with a degree in textiles and illustration. I am currently based in Stafford where I work from my home studio. My work is based around the themes of architecture and interiors. I take inspiration for my work from 1950’s textile prints and interior design, the work of Lucienne Day has formed a vital component in the development of my own art practice. My aim is to give a focus to the work which is reminiscent of the techniques, colours and element of pattern that is within 1950’s design.

I am a designer/maker trained in fine art, constructed textiles and kiln-formed glass. I design and deliver bespoke workshops for specific outcomes related to a school's curriculum requirements, in consultation with staff. I specialise in providing safe, clean, colourful, recycled, industrial, found, collected and dismantled components for constructing textured, spectacular wallpieces, sculptures, hangings, mobiles or individual pieces of coursework. The joining processes are accessible, the tactile materials are interesting to use and new 'makers' can build up visually exciting work quickly which encourages perseverance, self confidence and leads to superb permanent artworks being produced .

I deliver art workshops in children's craft (hats, masks etc), willow craft, mural painting, drawing and illustration. I have over ten years experience of providing art workshops in a variety of community settings. Stafford Borough Council employ me every year to visit schools and work with the children to make willow sculptures to carry in the town's Santa Parade. We cover the sculptures with bright carrier bag material and sticky back plastic. I have visited numerous schools to paint murals with a group of children, which is often a permanent piece of artwork for the school. I am happy to discuss ideas for your own workshops.

Creating is one of my main interests and enjoyments in life. I am most passionate about the creative process, and particularly enjoy working in a collaborative environment – offering a richer and multi-dimensional perspective. The process of studying towards my masters has developed my thinking and enthusiasm for research into performance, technique and creation. I have a real love for improvisation as a creative tool for generating movement. I enjoy discovering movement through a somatic based approach to generate and create dance performance work. My creative practice crosses over and in-between co-existing worlds of dance, theatre, film, art and performance.
