It is a time for celebrating the many accomplishments of our students, staff and parents and a time to say thank you to everyone who helped our students learn and grow. We are very proud of the many, many fine accomplishments of our students and staff over the year. A huge thank you to our staff, students and parents for your support and co-operation to keep our students learning in a safe and nurturing environment. To the teachers, support team and educational resource facilitators thank you for your creativity to constantly find new ways to continue to deliver an excellent, quality program and extracurricular activities for our students. Our office team Mrs. Karen McFedries and Mrs. Greening have kept track of our 450- students and over 300 families coming and going – every day .They always go the extra mile to ensure your children's safety and care. To our Vice-Principal, Ms. Karen Moss – a very special thank you for her strong leadership and teamwork, and her advocacy and caring for our Parkway students, staff and parents.
Best wishes are extended to all parents, staff and students for a safe and enjoyable summer. The school staff looks forward to seeing all Parkway’s students back in September 2010 ready to begin a new school year in our new school. Yours in Education, Tom Lowe
REMINDER PARENTS IN THE SCHOOL
We want Parkway Public School to be a welcoming place for parents and visitors. The most important issue staff at the school face is student safety. How do we best protect our children, and still have a school that is welcoming to parents? We have put a procedure in place that we are asking parents to follow. At the end of the day if you are picking up your child at school, please wait outside their exit, do not walk down the hall to their classroom. In the case of inclement weather, the front doors by the school parking lot are open and you can wait in this corridor for your child. If parents or visitors are entering the school at other hours, you must report to the office first to sign in and receive a Parkway visitor’s badge. This badge identifies you as a welcomed guest to both the staff and the children. Please note that the student washrooms are only for the children. At no point and time should parents or visitors be in the student washrooms. If visitors need to use the washroom they are asked to use the adult washrooms located across from the library. Thank you for your co-operation.
ARE YOU MOVING? Please notify the office if you are moving out of the Parkway school boundaries between now and September. This will assist the office in making the necessary adjustments for next year's classroom placements. If you will be taking an extended vacation during the school year, please send a letter to the school specifying dates you will be away. We also require a name, address and phone number of where your family will be staying if your child will be absent during the first week of September but will be returning to Parkway. Please notify the office of a return date for your child.

3 steps to quality summer child care for your child
If you have a school-age child, finding
summer child care can be a real
challenge. But you can follow these
three simple steps to help you choose a
program that’s best for your family. It
will mean a summer full of fun and
learning for your child—and peace of
mind for you.
Step 1
Call Child Care Info Peel
905-890-9432 or 1-888-836-5550
Child care experts provide specific
information about summer camps and
other child care providers in your
neighbourhood. They can answer your
questions and give you information to
help you choose the program that’s right
for your family.
It’s a good idea to call the info line early
to give yourself enough time to
investigate potential programs and make
your decision before the program fills
up.
Step 2
Schedule an appointment to meet with
the program director or to speak over the
phone, so that you can get more
information about the program. If
possible, visit the program or the facility
in which it will be held. The more
information you have, the better you will
be able to decide if this program is a
good "fit" for your child and your
family.
Step 3
When you are checking out summer
programs, don’t be afraid to ask a lot of
questions—it’s the best way to make
sure you have all the information you
need. In general, you will want to ask
questions about the program, staff,
health and safety practices, food
provided, and costs.
