CRIME RATE IS ON THE INCREASE EVERYWHERE. HOW CAN WE REDUCE IT?

BY - SHARON

What is Crime?

• A crime is an act, that a person does, which is against the laws of a country or region. A person who does this is called a criminal. • The basic idea of what things are

called "crimes" is that they are thought to be things that might cause a problem for another person. Things like killing another person, injuring another person, or stealing from another person are crimes in most countries.

More About Crime Rates

• In recent years, crime rates have gone up dramatically in big cities all around the world. People who have migrated from rural areas to big cities have underlined an unlimited security problems.

•With the rapid urbanization and development of big cities and towns, the graph of crimes is also on the increase. This phenomenal rise in offences and crime in cities is a matter of great concern and alarm to all of us. There are robberies, murders, rapes and what not.

•The frequent and repeated thefts, robberies, murders, killings, rapes, shoplifting, pick pocketing, drug- abuse, illegal trafficking, smuggling, theft of vehicles etc., have made the common citizens to have sleepless nights and restless days.

•The criminals have been operating in an organised way and sometimes even have nationwide and international connections and links. The crime situation in other metropolitan cities like Bombay, Calcutta, and Madras etc. is almost the same.

Types of Crimes

Crimes are of many types. Some of them are..Murder

Thefts

Pick pocketing

Drug- abuse Rapes

Kidnapping

Robberies

Shoplifting

Illegal trafficking

(Smuggling)

Dowery

Cyber Crime

Child Abuse

Corruption

•The political links of the criminals have complicated the matters. Kidnappers, rapists, murderers, smugglers and such other criminals are indulging in their crimes under the wings and protection of the political leaders. Steps should be taken to curb and eliminate this dangerous trend.

•The masses should rise to fight against political protection of criminals. Corrupt politicians should be denied party tickets and party positions.

Do you think anyone protect criminals?

• Recently the Tandoor Murder case shocked the whole country, and other cases are involvement of many leaders has come to light rich men and their wards are being kidnapped openly for money.

• Old, retired and lonely men and women living in posh colonies are easy targets of these criminals. The old men and women cannot do without domestic help and servants. And the servants are killing and murdering them.

• The police and the administration are to be blamed for the deterioration of law and order in the cities. Sometimes, policemen are a party to these crimes. They get their share of the loot.

Major shocking case of murder by political people in India

Tandoor Murder case• New Delhi: Nearly two decades ago

on the night of July 2, 1995, in the open-air restaurant of a Delhi five-star hotel, a body was being burned in a tandoor. It was the body of 29-year-old Naina Sahni, wife of Delhi Youth Congress President Sushil Sharma.

• Enraged Sharma took out his licenced revolver and shot Naina Sahni thrice, hitting her on the neck and head. The third shot missed her and hit the wall.

•Sahni died on the spot. Sharma then wrapped her body in a blanket and took it to the restaurant where he chopped it into small pieces and stuffed it into the tandoor. Sharma then tried to burn the body in the clay oven but when police came Sharma escaped from the restaurant.

• It was in Bangalore that Sharma finally surrendered on July 10, pleading innocence. He was sentenced to death on Nov 7, 2003 by the trial court.

Is Crimes done by Planning?

• Crimes are being committed in an organised manner.• Criminals have turned professionals and

can be hired by anyone who can pay them handsomely, Well educated young men, belonging to good families have been found involved in many a crime. • Some criminals get a hint from Indian

and foreign films and TV serials. If they succeed in committing one crime successfully, they become fabulously rich.

Safe place for notorious Criminals

• Mumbai is the commercial capital of India. It also goes the distinction of being the centre of economic offences. Mumbai is notorious for prostitution, and child abuse.

• Land, arms and drug mafias have a well spread network there. They finance and help the production of magi mega budget films and have secret political links and influences. Increasing of slum colonies has also given rise in the rate of crimes in the cities.

• Mumbai has the largest slums. Mumbai is dotted with shanty townships. These slums and huge hopers are dens of all sorts of crimes.

Why Crime Rate is increasing??

Poverty Selfish Greedy

Illiteracy Unemployment Frustration

How can we reduce crimes?• Unemployment and frustration among youth have

contributed much to the rise in crimes. Proper practical education, vocational training centres and supports to initiate more industries will helps to originate more job opportunities and reduce unemployment.

• Parents should guide their children and bring them up with good moral values. Parents should be good role models for their children, as ‘deeds speak louder than words’.

• Strict rules and regulations will decrease the anti-social activities and mafias.

• Police force should be increased, empowered and their continuous patrolling will help to trim down offences.

• Strict hard punishments oblige the offenders to think about the punishments before committing a crime.

• Awareness and Educating the Public will reduce crimes.

• To conclude, though crime rates are increasing, day by day, we can reduce it by strong rules, and moral education, parental guidance, and so on. We should use all possible measures to minimize the increasing crime rates.
