1. CONTINUOUSLY EVOLVINGIMPROVEMENT- Must adapt its educational activities and
services to meet the demands of a modern and dynamic community.
- Must be sensitive and responsive to the needs of a changing society
2. BASED ON THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE RELEVANCE-
- Plan the curriculum with people.- TARGET : people
3. MUST BE DEMOCRATICALLY CONCEIVED.
“Two heads are better than one” Involvement of a lot of people (with varying
expertise) will naturally produce a more effective curriculum
4. IS THE RESULT OF A LONG-TERM EFFORT.
-thorough planning It’s not an overnight “composition” Pilot-tested
5. IS A COMPLEX OF DETAILS.
Such as: 1. people – stakeholders 2. processes - mechanisms 3. physical plant - meeting
places/classroom environment; instructional equipment; technology
6. PROVISION FOR LOGICAL SEQUENCE OF SUBJECT MATTER.
Classes and activities should be planned so as to achieve an orderly development of:
- subject matter- step-by-step progress of the learner
7. COMPLEMENTS AND COOPERATES WITH OTHER PROGRAMS IN THE COMMUNITY.
No monopoly of the education scene at the community level
The major concern should be TO SEE THAT THE JOBS GET DONE REGARDLESS OF WHO DOES IT.
Ideally, there should be sharing of resources. COOPERATION WILL ACCOMPLISH MORE RATHER THAN COMPETITION.
8. EDUCATIONAL QUALITY
- The curriculum must be made up of offerings that pass the test of good and sound education.
WE SPEAK OF QUALITY EDUCATION BUT THERE HAS TO BE QUALITY CURRICULUM AS WELL.
9. ADMINISTRATIVE FLEXIBILITY Flexibility is a good trait of a good
curriculum CHANGES
