1.1.1 How is the institutional vision and mission reflected in the academic
programmes of the university?

To be an Institution par excellence for the Science of Ayurveda and allied sciences in
teaching, training, treatment, research, extension and Global promotion and
propagation.

To develop excellent Ayurvedic physicians.
To develop competent human resources for teaching and research in Ayurveda
and allied sciences.
To serve as a "Center of Excellence" for Ayurveda and allied sciences.
To disseminate the knowledge of Ayurveda among the community.
To carry out the extension activity for propagation.

To cater the national and global need of quality Ayurvedic health care
professionals.
To start, manage and shelter institutions working in Ayurveda and allied sciences.
To carry out researches in order to revalidate oriental and traditional principles
and claims.

The university has its own goals and objectives to achieve its main mission of global
propagation of Ayurveda. The institution serves as custodian of classical Ayurveda
Knowledge. It aims at safeguarding and protecting the heritage of the traditional
medicine Ayurveda. The university aims to develop competent human resources for
teaching and research in Ayurveda. The recruitment of the best staff is done in the
institute. The university is equipped with the modern technology and machinery to
meet the present day requirement by incorporating advances of basic sciences. The
institute also serves the requirement of global health care. The university is well versed
and competent enough to serve as centre of excellence for Ayurveda. The university
conducts various researches and collaborative research to revalidate traditional claims
and principles. The researches provide various objective parameters and experimental
models that provide an evidence and are published in journals. It also takes measures to
enrich Pharmacopoeia through evidence based research. It aims at mainstreaming
AYUSH systems in the public health. The university conducts various clinical and
awareness camps to support and enriching National Health Mission.
This is an evidence based scientific era. The university is instrumental in conducting
various programmes and researches that bring out a substantial evidence. These
evidences are then manifested through various publications in national and
international journals. The university has all the necessary instruments to conduct
researches. It also has its own research protocols. The university also provides
Ayurveda medicines to the patients for curing diseases and maintenance of health at the
OPD and IPD levels. Several patients have been treated successfully in the university. In
this way,
the institution has its own goals and objectives that focuses on the implementation of
various courses in educational programmes that will illuminate the concepts of
Ayurveda in the right manner and enable the students to apply these principles and
will be beneficial to the society.
1.1.2 Does the university follow a systematic process in the design and development

The university follows a systematic process in the design and development of the
curriculum. It strives for the uniformity in the curriculum and covering all the
theoretical and practical methods of teaching. The university has various allied courses
and the syllabus for them is designed by the university by an expert committee and the
available standard norms. Initially, the title of the course is decided by the
institute/university/council. This title is then approved primarily by the syndicate and
then it is approved by the senate of the university. After this, the title is sent to the
honourable Governor of Gujarat state for the consent for amendment in university
statue No.156. This is reflected in the academic programmes through the
implementation of the following points:
The Curriculum for the undergraduate and postgraduate courses is followed
according to the syllabus designed by the Central Council of Indian Medicine
(CCIM).
The CCIM committee that forms the syllabus of these courses includes most of
the faculty members from IPGT & RA, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar
and Shree Gulabkunverba Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya.

The syllabus that is implemented in the Indian Institute of Ayurvedic
Pharmaceutical Science (IIAPS) and the Maharshi Patanjali Institute of Yoga &
Naturopathy is designed by the university.
The courses that are followed in IIAAPS are B.Pharm (Ayu) and D.Pharm(Ayu)
and their syllabus is designed by the university.
There is another course B.N.Y.S. that is designed by the university.
The university ensures the participation of all the departments while designing the
curriculum. It also inculcates the newer points in the curriculum related to the advances
in the medical sciences. The university is keen in developing an apt curriculum for the
development of students. Various suggestions and feedbacks are incorporated in the
curriculum through the authority in the institute. The university intents to abide by the
existing curriculum patterns and also include the newer trends in the medical world
and combining the two to provide an effective curriculum in front of the students.
1.1.3. How are the following aspects ensured through curriculum design and
development?
Employability- The effectiveness of the development of the curriculum and other
activities in the university are manifested through the success of our students who are
instrumental in pursuing clinical practice, academics as well as research activities. The
students of our university have carved a niche for themselves and are active in
propagating Ayurveda all over the country as well as globally. The students of our
institution are employed or self employed or still pursuing super specialization in
prestigious institutions.
Innovation- The eminent and efficient teachers in the university are given freedom to
express their ideas and opinions regarding interactive teaching methods. The university
encourages the students to participate in various seminars. Various activities like case
presentations, power point presentations, poster presentations are carried out for better
understanding of the students. The university also arranges guest lectures of several
dignitaries on both theoretical as well as practical subjects. The university makes it a
point to listen to the suggestions of the students regarding their interests and needs and
takes the required measures accordingly. Every department is provided with a
laboratory of its own where they can conduct experiments and derive useful
conclusions.

The university also has well equipped pharmacological laboratory with animal house,
pharmaceutical chemistry laboratory, biochemistry laboratory and pharmacognosy
laboratory to provide evidence for the principles of Ayurveda.
Research- The university has research institutes that are solely devoted to research
activities. It also has an animal house to conduct experimental researches. The
researchers are provided with the necessary infrastructure and finance for conducting
researches. They are provided with the necessary instruments and equipments for
research. There are several junior and senior research fellows under whom various
research projects have been undertaken.
The institution follows the guidelines provided by the CCIM. These guidelines are then
revised by the academic committee in our institute. Apart from the syllabus that is
prescribed by the CCIM, the academic committee looks into every aspect of the syllabus
and introduces various new subjects like pharmaceutics, microbiology, pharmacognosy
etc are also included in the syllabus. The various researches that are conducted
successfully by the institute are instrumental in developing new research models and
objective parameters that can be useful in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
This helps to develop and embellish the professional skills. There are various types of
clinical, experimental and observational researches that are carried out in the institute
successfully. Globalization has led to the cultural exchanges between nations. The
various researches that are conducted are published in national and international
journals. The university has undertaken several measures for the treatment of Swine Flu
and other communicable diseases. The university has prepared a tablet Swanil which
has provided relief to the patients. There are out patient departments and in patient
departments for each and every specialization branch.
1.1.4. To what extent does the university use the guidelines of the regulatory bodies
for developing and/or restructuring the curricula? Has the university been
instrumental in leading any curricular reform which has created a national impact?
The university follows the guidelines provided by the Central Council of Indian
Medicine, the AYUSH department and the Gujarat Ayurved University. The academic
committee, scientific advisory committee and the board of studies participate in
designing the curriculum. The university also takes the local, regional and international
needs of the students into consideration while deciding the curriculum.
There are academic committee, scientific advisory committee and board of studies that
include experts of concerned subjects from all over the country that look into the details
of the syllabus leading to curricular reforms.
Faculty of the university/affiliated colleges are the members of the board of studies of
concerned subjects.
Faculty of the university are also the members of syllabus reform committee of
CCIM,New Delhi.
The faculty of the university have contributed in addition of new topics in the CCIM
approved syllabus by representing as members of the CCIM Syllabus reform
committee.
The portion of the M.Sc(Medicinal plants) have been incorporated in the Dravyaguna
syllabus of the CCIM.
1.1.5 Does the university interact with industry, research bodies and the civil society
in the curriculum revision process? If so, how has the university benefitted through
interactions with the stakeholders?
The university interacts with industry, research bodies and the civil society in the
curriculum revision process. The main mission of the university is the global
propagation of Ayurveda. Therefore the university takes feedback from the national
and international students. The university takes feedback from the faculty, employers,
alumni and the stake holders for the revision of the syllabus. The stakeholders are the
alumni of the university who have gained the topmost positions in the field of
pharmacy, research, academics and as clinical practitioners. The inputs from these
stakeholders are used in a positive way to effectively design the curriculum.
There are research bodies, ethical committee, civil society that include experts of
concerned subjects from all over the country that look into the details of the syllabus
leading to curricular reforms. The post graduates from IPGT & RA, Jamnagar are stake
holders in Ayurveda at various renowned industries, research bodies and civil societies.
Advices are seeked from these people while designing the syllabus.

Faculty, UG and PG students regularly interact with the civil society during
health camps and with the representatives of research bodies in scientific
seminarsand conferences.
The university interacts with various pharmaceutical industries, research bodies
like CCRAS, ICMR, MDNIY, NMPB,PCIM, Ministry of AYUSH, GSPTM,
IASTAM,Gujarat forest and Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapith.
Seven BAMS practitioners were selected as Senate member. Gujarat Government
nominated 7 senate maembers and 2 MLA also. These senate members are also
member of syndicate and various Board of studies.
The students receive suggestions of industrialists informally during industrial
training. These suggestions help in the syllabus reframing.
Various M.Pharm(Ayu)/M.Sc(Medicinal plants)research projects are being
sponsored by the industries. Thus the students get an exposure to newer aspects
of studies.
1.1.6 Give details of how the university facilitates the introduction of new
programmes of studies in its affiliated colleges.
The university has started various programmes in its affiliated colleges like Griha
Ayurveda, PGDYN, B.pharmacy, M.pharma, Diploma courses in dentistry, beauty and
cosmetics etc. These courses are running successfully in all the affiliated colleges and
has a positive feedback.

Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy are a part of the curriculum in all the courses of the
university. In Ayurveda, there is a specializataion subject Swasthavritta which aims at
the prevention of diseases and maintenance of health as well as curing various diseases.
Whenever there is an emergence of a newer disease like Swine Flu, we try to apply our
principles that are a part of the curriculum in treating these diseases and creating
awareness in the society. The university also aims at providing health care to the rural
areas. The students from our university are sent to the nearby rural areas to provide
medical facilities to the people. This helps in creating awareness among the people in
the rural areas and also improves their skills in communication and behavior. They are
informed about the necessary diet and lifestyle modifications. They are counseled about
the various diagnostic tests and screening of various diseases. Various scientific
workshops and training programmes are conducted to improve the skills of the
students. Regional needs are promptly identified and necessary steps are taken to
conduct various programmes for the same.
The university hasdeveloped new programmes according to the regional needs which

According to the regional need, the university establishes skill oriented programs to
handle the diseases like Swine flu, Chikungunya and dengue fever. Students are
trained about the management of these diseases through Ayurveda medicinal
formulations. The Ayurveda students are trained in Rural Health Training centres of
villages during their mandatory internships.
Regular academic programmes are conducted at university center and college level
to enhance the skill of the students.

regional needs?
The institution has provided the skill oriented programs like Griha Ayurveda,
Ayurveda beauty and cosmetics, as well as various courses in Yoga and Naturopathy
according to the regional needs.
1.1.10 Explain the initiatives of the institution in the following areas:
There are several initiatives undertaken in the institute in the following areas:
Behavioral and Social Science- There is a special program „Gossip with Girls‟ to
create an awareness among the adolescent girls and boys.
The programme „Mera Swasthya Mera Adhikara‟ has been specially planned
which aims at educating and creating awareness in the children right from a very
young age from primary to college level.
The program „My Happiness My Right‟ is specially planned to emphasize and
propagate the use of Medhya Rasayana (Nootropics) to generate youth with
higher level of intellectual personality.
Ayurveda Pharmacy students are taught environmental studies as an
independent subject. Nests were made from the unused Garbha(earthen Pots) of
Navratri festival and were hanged on the trees of university campus for boosting
awareness in the society about preservation of wilflife.
NSS activities are being successfully conducted every year in different villages of
Jamnagar district. Students stay at villages for a period of 7 days to create an
awreness maong the villagers regarding cleanliness and personal hygiene
through different types of activities like street plays, rally, group meetings, guest
speeches etc.
The institutes of the university organize „Bal Yoga Camp‟ for the awreness and
betterment of the children.
The university organizes self defense training in various institutes.
Anti ragging cell safeguards proper behaviour of students in the campus
towards the junior students.
Mentoring system is provided in the university where 2 to 3 teachers are
appointed to each class for interaction with the students to create healthy and
friendly environment amongst the students and teachers.
Medical ethics/Bio-Ethics/Nursing Ethics-There is an institutional ethics
committee that approves the various research works on the basis of the medical
ethics.
There is an Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) that approves,
supervises and reviews the experimental protocols of animal studies on the basis
of ethics.
Every clinical study of the university is registered in the clinical trials registry of
India(CTRI)
Adverse drug reactions with Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha systems of medicines
are being received by the National pharmacovigilance Resource centre, located in
the university campus. Pharmacovigilance cell is also a part of the institute.
Training course is also provided for Panchakarma therapist for the training of the
Ayurvedic Nursing ethics.
There is also compounding training and pharmaceutical industrial visit and
training provided in Ayurveda Pharmacy.
Practice management towards curriculum and or services- There are different
out patients department and in patient departments for every specialization in
the institute that provide Panchakarma as well as Surgical practices for the
training of the UG and PG students.
University has extension OPD at Jamnagar district Central Jail, all the wings of
Defense(Army, Air force and Navy), Sasoi Dam and Ramkrishna Ashram.
University has a special satellite OPD also.
Students participate in the school health program as a part of the curriculum.
The pharmaceutical training, botanical tour and industrial visit are conducted in
the Ayurveda Pharmacy colleges.
The Yoga and Naturopathy practices are undertaken on a daily basis in the Yoga
and Naturopathy colleges.
Orientation to research-
The university has an entire institute which is completely dedicated towards
research in the field of Ayurveda-Institute for Post graduate Training and
Research in Ayurveda(IPGT & RA)
There are various research workshops conducted in the institute.
Financial aid is provided to faculty as well as students for research projects.
Research methodology subject is included in the first year MD, BAMS syllabus
and also in Yoga and Naturopathy courses.There are also various departmental
seminars/ weekly seminar presentations conducted in the institute. Various
guest lectures are also conducted in the institute.
The university has extended its research activities (for Ph.D) outside the campus
like Vasu Healthcare Pvt Ltd and Ayurveda Cancer research institute,
CCRAS,Mumbai. Currently 10 Ayurvedic Research institutes have such type of
research extension to the university and these projects are in the pipeline.
Rehabilitation
Panchakarma, a branch of Ayurveda science has special rehabilitation treatment
for paralysis, cerebral palsy, rickets, mental retardation, neurological disorders of
children etc. Students get exposure to treat and rehabilitate such patients.
University has separate Yoga-Pranayama-Meditation center and also same is
available in the hospitals of the campus area.
University hospitals have separate physiotherapy department for rehabilitation
of the patients and students get exposure of this specific treatment results.
The curriculum emphasizes optimal physical, sensory, intellectual,
pshychological and social functional levels Students develop skils of Ayurvedic
rehabilitation training to provide disabled people with the tools they need to
attain independence and self determination.
Slow learners are identified amongst students from their performance in the
classroon and are effectively trained to meet the required competency level.
Ancient scriptural practices-
The university has a collection of a large number of manuscripts that have been
preserved and digitalized and a separate website
www.ayurvedamanuscripts.com had been generated for it.
The university institutes have very good ancient scripture practices of
Panchakarma, Ksharasutra, Agnikarma, Trigarbha Kutir, Daivavyapashraya
Chikitsa, Shishopnayana Sanskara, Tapovan Kendra (Ayurvedic Antenatal Care
Centre) as a part of the curriculum.
The syllabus and curicullum of Ayurveda is based on ancient scriptures and
lmodern literature. The university has developed a website wherein
comprehensive details of ayurveda publications are listed in
www.ayurvedacatalogue.com). More than 4500 publications are available on ths
site. Various workshops like „Manuscriptology and paleography‟ are being
conducted in the institute. The entire syllabus of the university is based on these
ancient scriptures and literature.
Health Economics- the university provides and monitors the efficiency,
effectiveness and behaviour of various drugs and medicines related to its
standardization and authentification.
The university provides free Ayurvedic consulting, Ayurvedic medicines, Indoor
stay, nursing care, food, physiotherapy treatment, Ayurvedic treatments and
Ayurvedic surgeries which enhance the health economics.
All types of Pathological, biochemical, radiological etc investigations are
provided free of cost for IPD patients and BPL card holders at OPD level.
The university organizes free medical treatment camp in the city and villages.
Faculties also take active participation in the medical treatment camps organized
by NGO‟s and other organizations.
Medicolegal issues-
Curriculum includes training in medicolegal aspects in the subjects of Vyavahar
Ayurveda that includes Forensic medicine, Medical jurisprudence and
toxicology.
University does not have a separate Medico legal Cell in hospitals but
medicologal issues are handled under the supervision of Superintendent, Deputy
Superintendent and hospital RMO.
There is a separate pharmacovigilance cell to avoid and resolve the medicolegal
issues. The university also conducts timely workshops for the same. The various laws
and acts concerning the manufacturing, standardization, administration and medical
practices are a part of the syllabus.
Enhancement of quality of services and consumer satisfaction-
The university puts suggestion boxes at each public and student service center.
Feedbacks are taken for such services and interactions are made with the
students.
The hospital administration is constantly conducting patient satisfaction surveys
and also feedback forms are filled by the patients and their attendants.
The university adopts patient centric approach and focusses on the satisfaction of
the patients.The syllabus includes good manufacturing practices, Good
laboratory practices for the authentification and standardization of drugs that is
palatable and effective in the treatment of diseases. The syllabus also includes
standard Yoga and Naturopathic practices.

practice guidelines are adopted to guide patient care wherever possible?
The various researches that are conducted in the university provide a data that stands
as an evidence to the entire world. There are various papers published about this in
scientific journals. There are various experimental models and objective parameters that
have been formed through the research works. Several pamphlets and charts have been
provided in the IPD and OPD departments to create awareness among the patients. The
university has kept its standards at par with the international level. The university has
developed various standard operating procedures for the treatment of various diseases.
Good clinical practices are adopted in the hospital and all its constituents. The
university has its own pathological and biochemical laboratories. The university also
has an Ayugenomics department where several types of researches are carried out with
the help of various equipments and instruments.
The university hospital has initiated the use of RUDRA software for the bettere
management of patient data.
The University has well equipped Animal house, Pharmaceutical chemistry laboratory,
biochemistry Laboratory and Pathology Laboratory.
1.1.12 What are the newly introduced value added programs and how are they
related to the internship programs?
The university has always given priority to the value added programmes.
The university organizes periodical medical camps for clinical orientation of the interns.
In addition, the university arranges weekly drug seminar on every Tuesday at IPGT &
RA.
Compulsory posting of interns in rural hospitals and PHC‟s are arranged by te
university.
Interns participate in CME, clinical meetings and skill based workshops conducted by
the university.
Lecture series on research methodology, special lectures and workshops are conducted
for the knowledge of interns.
Investigative and laboratory technical skills are being taught to the interns as a part of
the internship in pathology lab.
The university has taken an initiative in conducting programs like Nadi Vidnyana,
Griha Ayurveda, Ayurvedic Dentistry, Ayurveda beauty and cosmetics, Medical
Astrology, Anorectal diseases, C.P.D which are valuable enough for the overall
development of the students.
At the beginning of the internship program, the students are informed about the
necessary formalities and medicolegal laws related to medicine. Addressals from
eminent scholars in the internship orientation programme helps the students to
understand the motive behind the training process of internship. The postings of the
students are done in the primary health centers and the civil hospitals to provide an
orientation about the emergencies encountered in the medical world. The students are
informed about the necessary treatment protocols for several diseases.
Periodical medical camps are conducted for clinical orientation among the interns.
1.1.13 How does the institution contribute to the development of integrated learning
methods and Integrated Health Care Management?
*Vertical and horizontal integration of subjects taught
Horizontal integration means bringing together the disciplines, topics and subjects.
Vertical integration means bringing together the basic and clinical sciences. The
university takes into account both the horizontal as well as vertical integration of the
subjects. The syllabus includes the introduction of the basic principles of the other
alternative systems of medicine as well as the modern allopathic sciences. Thus leading
to the horizontal integration of subjects. Integrated learning is promoted at all levels so
tht there is vertical and horizontal integration of subjects taught at the departmental
and institutional level.
Vertical integration is promoted during teaching-learning process of the preclinical
basic sujects of Anatomy-Sharira Rachana, physiology-Sharira Kriya, and para clinical
subjects of pathology-Roga Vigyana and Vikriti Vigyana, Pharmacology-Dravyaguna.
International students are merged with local students in theory and practical classes of
BAMS.
The curicculum of B.Pharm(Ayu) and M.Pharm(Ayu) is a perfect blend of Ayurvedic
pharmaceutical science and Allopath pharmaceutical Science. The student gets an
exposure of Pharmaceutical Biochemistry, Pharmaceutcal Microbiology, Pharmaceutical

IPGT & RA. In this seminar, one topic is presented and discussed by all departments.

In M.Pharm(Ayu) course, two(02) seats are kept reserved exclusively for B.Pharm
Allopath students to extend horizontal integration of science. Similarly, any B.Sc scholar
can join M.Sc(Medicinal plant) course in the university and any M.Sc student can join
Ph.D.

The university is equipped with various integrated laboratories like Biochemistry,
Microbiology, Pharmacology, Radiology, Chemistry, Pharmacognosy and Genomics for
better understanding and correlation of the Ayurvedic concept with modern
techniques. The introductory portion of above mentioned topics are a part of the
curriculum of MD.
Ayu-Genomics is a major project of the university in which concept of Ayurveda is
correlated with Gene i.e Prakriti.
To perform and get an exposure of Ayurvedic concepts of surgery, the university has
well equipped operation theaters (O.T) and also Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Ayurveda and modern diagnostic tools are used in the diagnostic purpose.
The students are given clinical postings in the undergraduate level itself to provide
them with early clinical experience and developing an interest among them regarding
the clinical practice of Ayurveda. The students are taught about the modern allopathic
sciences as well as the other alternative systems of medicine. The University has OPD
and IPD for all the departments thus leading to the vertical integration of the subjects.
The university conducts various workshops and seminars where lectures are delivered
about the modern allopathic sciences as well as the other alternative system of
medicine. This provides a knowledge to the students regarding the integration of the
different subjects and develops a clinical orientation in them in a better way. The
students are also made aware about the various challenges and the ways to overcome
these challenges while practicing Ayurveda.

The syllabus includes Ayurveda and Yoga, Naturopathy as well as other systems of
health care like Unani, Homeopathy under the subjects Swasthavritta and Kayachikitsa.
The university also has different OPD like Swasthavritta OPD. In this OPD, the patients
are counseled about the Yoga practices and Ayurveda dietetics. The university also has
taken up courses like Griha Ayurveda according to the regional needs of the people.

The university arranges different types of camps for the awareness of various
communicable and non communicable diseases. National and international conferences
and workshops are conducted in the university to prosper and practice Ayurveda in the
proper light. The university also provides treatment to the patients in the jail giving an
impetus to the rehabilitation of these people. The university also provides medical
facility to the air force and navy officers. The university also arranges programmes and
lectures on special days like Yoga day, No tobacco day etc. The university conducts
various blood donation camps. The students are encouraged to actively participate in
these programmes and exhibit their skills which will lead to the overall personality
development of the students. The university takes an active participation in the
activities like the marathon and other sports activities to create an awareness about

In all the PG courses, admission is done on the basis of merit aquired after a
national level entrance examination. The students are then admitted in the

The university runs undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D courses in its
institutes.The university offers the following core courses in the

03 UG courses, 23 PG courses and 23 PhD courses are the core
courses offered by the University.
b. Elective options:
For PG courses, entrance exam is conducted and on the basis of
merit, scholars are allowed to choose the branch. A national level
entrance examination is conducted annually and the students are
selected according to their merit. There are thousands of students
who appear for the examination amongst which the meritorious
students are selected for the respective specialization according to
their choices and preferences.
c. Bridge course:
Special classes are conducted to learn foreign languages in the
University to facilitate for better understanding and interpretation
of Ayurved for the International and National students. This
language training helps the students to overcome the problems
faced by them in grasping the regional language.
In addition to this, “Dentistry in Ayurved” is being conducted by
University School of Continuing Education in Ayurved. This has
provided a wide scope for development of the branch of dentistry
in Ayurveda.

Integrated learning is promoted at all levels. There is vertical and horizontal integration of subjects taught at the departmental and Institutional level.
Vertical integration is promoted during teaching-learning process. The pre-clinical basic subjects of Anatomy-Rachana Sharira, Physiology-Kriya Sharira and Para Clinical subjects of Pathology-Rogavigyana & Vikritivigyana, Pharmacology-Dravyaguna is linked to the applied aspects of Ayurvedic Medicine.

The PG program of MD (Ayu)/ MS (Ayu) in nearly all clinical specialties is
offered to BAMS Doctors and it intensely helps them in career advancement.
PG teaching curriculum has skill training as an inseparable portion of study. The PG scholars undergo 3 years of hands on training in the speciality and develop all the skills to perfection, needed for Ayurvedic clinical/non-clinical practice.
Special series of Teachers‟ Training Workshop was arranged in the campus
exclusively for the Faculties of the University.
Workshop on Research Methodology was arranged in the University for
research professionals.
Beside these, CMEs are conducted for medical officers on regular basis for
updating of knowledge.
Paramedical/Non-teaching staff of the University also undergoes skill

University arranges special Lectures, Workshops etc. from time to time for the
staff and students of concerned Institutes.
Students participate in Youth Festival and also in debates, quiz and other
competitions, organized at State and National levels. Many prizes and awards
have been won by the participants from the University. Such activities promote
physical as well as mental well-being of students and the overall development of
their personalities.
Furthermore, the University supports student‟s participation in inter-collegiate

University Institute MPIYNER has well equipped Gymnasium as well as Yoga
Hall for Students &Staff of the University.
To upgrade the knowledge of Sanskrit, “Sanskrit Sambhasha Workshop” was

1.3.7 Does the curriculum provide for adequate emphasis on patient safety,
confidentiality, rights and education ?
Yes
The University hospitals give primary importance to the safety of the patients according to the principles of Ayurvedic Science. The mandatory patient safety measures regarding use of equipments, instruments and medicines are provided. The Doctors and Nurses in practice ensure optimum patient safety and is imbibed by the students.
The University hospitals ensure patient confidentiality and systems are in place to ensure professional secrecy. Confidentiality of the patient is ensured during case discussions, dissertation/thesis and paper presentation.
Ayurvedic ethics for practice is a part of the curriculum and emphasizes on patient safety. In MD (AYU) research works, toxicity/other side effects of Ayurvedic drugs/preparations are checked/ analyzed in Analytical and Pharmacology laboratories and then is prescribed to the patients.

Main emphasis is given on discipline and punctuality.
Students are involved in NSS activities in their academic session. These activities
develop awareness about the moral responsibilities in the students.
Intern and PG scholars are involved in Ayurvedic medical camps organized by
the University as well as social organizations at different places.
Environmental Studies is taught as a subject in Ayurvedic pharmaceutical
courses. Students got motivated through this subject and they tried to
rehabilitate birds by using old earthen Garba (Mud pot) in entire University
campus, conducted plantation program “Go Green, Grow Green” and Plastic
awareness drive in various schools of the city.
1.4 Feedback System
1.4.1 Dose the institution have a formal mechanism to obtain feedback from
students regarding the curriculum and how is it made use of ?
Yes
University takes curricular feedback periodically in the form of open discussion
with the students and experts. The appropriate suggestions from them are
forwarded to the Board of studies of concerned subjects.
Online portal for teaching assessment is also available as feedback.
In BAMS and MD/MS (Ayu),the university follows the syllabus of CCIM. Our
university is one of the leading universities in the field of Ayurved. So at the time
of revising syllabus by CCIM, our faculty members have served as experts. Thus
the university is instrumental in putting forward the feedback and suggestions to
develop and enrich the curriculum.
For other courses running in the university like B Pharm (Ayu), M Pharm (Ayu)
etc we are taking feedback of teachers and students of the same course to revise
the syllabus from time to time.
Our university is also running some certificate courses in the campus area. The
necessary curriculum for such courses are also designed by the experts and
revised by feedback of students and participant and experts of that courses.
1.4.2 Dose the institution elicits feedback on the curriculum from nation and
international faculty? If yes, specify a few methods such as conducting
webinars, workshop, online discussions, etc.and their impact.

Feedbacks from experts and peers are obtained from comments, suggestions and observations during visits for inspection, special lectures, exams and other visits.
Renowned National personalities of Ayurved are members of the various
committees of University. They provide expertise for enrichment of Academic
programmes.
The University is the bench mark for other Institutes and Universities located
Nationally and Internationally. The syllabus of this University has been adopted
by Debris University, Hungary.
An extensive discussion regarding curriculum was done with Dr. U K Krishna
from Japan, during his visit to the University.
Faculties of other Universities are members of Gujarat Ayurved University
scientific advisory committee.
Joint secretory and Director of AYUSH is the member of syndicate and senate,
who has always given positive suggestions in the upgradation and enrichment of
the curriculum.
Faculty members or the University are serving as experts of different national
and international level courses designing.
Dr. H M Chandola, Former Dean, GAU went to health Institute in Malaysia for
syllabus reframing of Ayurveda subjects of their Institute.
1.4.3 Specify the mechanism through which affiliated institutions give feedback on
curriculum and the extent to which it is made use of.
Every year, the University calls for suggestions from the Institutes and presents
them in front of the Board of studies meeting.
Teachers of the various affiliated colleges are already members in various Boards
of Studies, where they regularly give their valuable and necessary inputs
regarding curriculum development.
The suggestions obtained from the students, subject experts and examiners are
represented to the Head of the departments and/ or Head of the Institutes. These
suggestions are then forwarded to the Board of Studies which undergoes the
necessary changes.
As per the feedback, the curriculum updation of the various courses and
implementation of new courses has been done in the previous years.
Affiliated institutions have to follow the same curriculum of the university and
feedback system is same for all the institutes.
1.4.4 Based on feedback, what are the quality sustenance and quality enhancement
measures undertaken by the institution in ensuring the effective development
of the curricula ?
University takes necessary steps to improvise the curriculum according to needs
& urges from the Societies, Government Departments, Subject experts &
Suggestions received from the Ayurveda Industrialists. For quality sustenance
and enhancement in the curricula, following measures have been taken:
Commencement of various short term certificate courses
Commencement of various e-learning courses
Up-gradation of the syllabus of all the courses
Commencement of University for Continuing Education
Enhancement in teaching- learning strategies like conducting regular
seminars, teaching through multimedia and practical approach, Industrial
visits and training, development of academic calendars etc.
1.4.5 What mechanisms are adopted by the management of the institution to obtain adequate information and feedback from faculty, students, patients, parents, industry, hospitals, general public, employers, alumni and interns, etc. and review the activities of the institution?
The Management of the University Institutions has made sincere efforts to collect feedback regarding curriculum, conduct of the Institute and various activities from faculties, students, patients, parents, employers, alumni and interns. The strategies are:
Through structured questionnaires of the feedback forms
Informal and telephonic interactions with the parents and Industrialists
Surprise visits to classrooms and hospital
Suggestion Boxes in the Institutions
Direct conversation with the patients, faculties and students
Formal meetings with heads of departments/ Institutes
The feedback is also taken from the patients about the amenities provided at the hospital.
