On September 17, 2016 the Cromwell High School Band, as well as
the nearly 1,000 high school musicians took the field for an epic Star
Wars halftime show at Rentschler Field during halftime of the
UConn vs. Virginia football game.
It was a day packed with excitement, but one of the best was when
CHS Band instrumentalists ran out on to the UCONN football field
to form respective letters (based on instrument) as the massive
marching band spelled out "Star Wars". The CHS band spent the day
rehearsing with UCMB until the big performance.
Organized by the University of Connecticut Marching Band (UCMB),
UConn Band Day invited high school bands to experience performing
in front of a Division 1 college audience. It was the first time CHS
joined in the program, under the direction of CHS Band Director Ray
Sinclair.

Important reminder! Please call the nurse with any medical changes for your child or any changes to your phone number/address. It’s important that we have updated health and contact information for all of our students!
Please remember the importance of having an updated/working phone number at all times in case the nurse needs to contact you in the event of an illness, inju-ry, or medical emergency. Please note that when calls are made recordings such
as “voicemail not set up”, “voicemail is full”, “the person you are trying to reach is not accepting calls right now”, etc. prevent the nurse from leaving important mes-sages.
Don’t forget to call in when your child is absent. Even if your child was absent the previous day we still need a call saying he/she will be absent again unless al-ready previously stated.
Hearing and vision screenings will be conducted throughout the month of October for 9th grade students. Please remember that we screen for distance only with regards to vision. If you have any concerns regarding any other vision
problems throughout the school year, please contact your pediatrician and/or eye doctor.

Attention Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors: On
Wednesday, October 19th CHS will be administering the
PSAT to all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. All students
will be dismissed at 12:25p.m. This exam helps students be-
come familiar with the SAT and begins to get them ready for
college. There is no fee for the test. Please ask that your stu-
dent brings two number 2 pencils along with a calculator on
that day. Student guides and practice test booklets are avail-
able in the guidance office.
Attention Seniors: On Wednesday October 19th all students
will be dismissed at 12:25pm. A mandatory senior class meet-
ing about important graduation and senior activities infor-
mation will be held at 9am in the auditorium. Seniors will be
permitted to arrive to school at 9am due to the PSAT admin-
istration and seniors arriving at the regular time will report
to the Library until the 9am senior meeting.
On Wednesday, September 21st, the Cromwell High School Band marched
in the Big E’s Connecticut Day Parade in front of over 50,000 spectators,
which lined the parade route. Over 90 strong, the pride of Cromwell High
School represented CHS and the town of Cromwell at a very professional
level.
The Student Council is currently preparing for the beginning
of this years events. Members at Large were finalized Thurs-
day, Sept. 29th, which made for a full Student Council. Pic-
ture day was Friday, Sept. 23rd and was very successful with
almost all present students completing their pictures. We ex-
pect ID’s to be distributed in the upcoming weeks.
The Student Council has been actively preparing our Home-
coming activities for the Homecoming dance on November 5th
with that entire week of school spirit. This culminates with a
pep rally on Friday followed by the dance on Saturday.
Student Council is also actively planning and gathering volun-
teers from various sports teams and organizations to assist
with the upcoming Trick or Trunk night. This will be Satur-
day, October 22nd on Main Street. For the event there will be
a Student Council car, a Football car and a World Language
car, with the potential for additional trick or truck vehicles.
We expect roughly 75 students to help assist with this event.
Student Council has also begun to plan our Annual Holiday
Party with the town of Cromwell. The party is scheduled to
take place the evening of December 14th and with funds
raised at the Annual Talent Show, we hope to help a record
number of local children.
CHS ECO Club students held a cleanup of school grounds by picking
up trash as part of their September club meeting.
