In 2015.02.26 a border spanning connection started between Serbia and Hungary. • According to the number of habitants, Novi Sad is the second city in Serbia, after Belgrade. According to the data of the census,2011, 341.265 inhabitants lived in the city’s area. Voivodina is Autonomus Province,the largest city in the northern province, Republic of Serbia. Also the administrative center of the province. Our city can be found besides the Danube, on Pannon Plain.

• In the territory of AP Vojvodina, Republic of Serbia, the representative of Roma national community is one of the representative of the national minority.

• In Vojvodina, the Roma national community are not the majority, but there are some neighborhoods and suburbs, where the Roma are the majority.

From 1.806 inhabitants 20% are Roma nationality in Sangáj local community

Sangáj settlement

• The „Trifun Dimity” is the first Roma library in Sangáj, Serbia, on the Balkans and posibly in Europe. The librarian does here the daily vocation with 30 pupils. They work, learn and do the homework.

Nagyrét -Roma settlement

• Here 2.550 people lives.70-90% are refugees from Kosovo and Metohija. Most of the houses have built without plans. The stocks was obtained from from the dump- adobe,brick,wood,sheet.

In the settlement 350 persons lives in 60 houses. In the primary school 65 childrean

attend and in the high school 2 of them.

• The travel of school childrean is an unsolves issue for several years. The accessibility of school is a basic condition of the regular attendance in school lessons.

The visit of Bangladesh Roma settlement with Hungarian guests

Bangladesh settlement• It was built in 1972 as a temporary

accomodation onto the place of the former farm site, which was the owned by the Social Centre. During a fire in the area of Roma settlement, 100 families were left without a lid. Then, as the result of a fast measure they moved onto the area of today’s Banglades. Then, the temporary accomodation changed to residency. Between 2007 and 2009 they could renew the houses in the temporary accomodation with the help of an application. The electricity was installes in 2009.

The Ecumenical Organization started the their work in 2000. Their main aim is to improve the social and economical situation of the Serbian Roma population.

• The inhabitants are responsible for the renovation of the houses. They do the work from their own resources or with the help of payed masters. Experinced Roma enterpreneur also help them.

• In this way they became responsible and actively participate in the reconstruction of the settlement. Rise the sense of ownership, the sustainability of the project and the active participation of the inhabitants.

In 13.11.2009, the Roma Central Source-Ecumeical Organisation undertook a role in the conclusion of conctarct

between the inhabitant of Banglades and the Novi Sad electric-power company.
