―Hi Kathy…. It’s Kathy Trocolli.‖

…. Did I hear that right? Kathy Trocolli is calling ME?!?

To my surprise, I actually was on the phone with KathyTrocolli, internationally recognized Christian speaker, songwriter, singer, and conference headliner of the upcoming

Among Friends Conference.

We talked for about 15 minutes. She wanted to personallycall and thank some of the women who are helping to pro-mote her upcoming Conference being held at Calvary Tab-ernacle in Schenectady on September 23 – 24th.

She asked if I was working and what I did. I told her I doMedical Billing unless she had a job for me. She joked Icould be a backup singer for her, in which I quickly re-plied, ―Honey, you wouldn’t want me as a backup singer!‖

Kathy is a down to earth, girl next-door type of person.Before her call, I had been excitedly looking forward to theconference. But now I’m even more excited.

For Kathy, the hope is ―togive each women a safeplace to let down thewalls, enjoy a good laugh,be herself, and walk awaywith a renewed courage totake of life’s trials.‖

The conference will be heldFriday, September 23,7:00 pm to 9:00 pm andwill continue through Sat-urday Sept 24, from 9:00am to 12:30 pm.

Joining Kathy will beDonna VanLiere, author of The Christmas Shoes andEllie Lofaro, speaker, Bibleteacher and humorist.

Community Reformed’s Book Group invitesyou to share in lively discussion and tastyfood at its upcoming summer meetings.

The group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month, at 7:00 PM.

The next meeting is set for August 23, startingat 7:00 pm. The meeting will focus on a brief discussion of The Christmas Shoes , the best-selling novel by Donna VanLiere, who will be afeatured speaker at the September AmongFriends conference in Schenectady.

In addition, we will discuss the first half of TheLonely Polygamist , by Brady Udall, the storyof Golden Richards, husband to four wives, fa-ther to twenty-eight children, who is havingthe mother of all midlife crises.

Monthly Women’s Group CombinesBible study, Fellowship, and Fun

Gladys ChamberlainThe Women's BibleStudy Group meets tostudy God’s word onthe first Saturday of the month, Septemberthrough June, at thehome of Gladys Cham-berlain.

We use the devotionalThe Upper Room , sometimes a book,and sometimes just a topic. Our studiesare discussed ahead of time so all atten-dees have some input into what we willbe studying.

However this group is more than astudy group. We start off with a cup of

coffee and something to nibble on andd i s c u s s p r a y e r c o n c e r n s a n dpraises. We have become a confidentialand caring support group for eachother. Anything personal is never dis-cussed or gossiped about outside of ourmeeting. We have many moments of laughter and Christian fellowship.

We choose a prayer partner for the

coming month. We each pray for ourprayer partner throughout the followingmonth, often contacting that personduring the month to find out prayerneeds, concerns, and praises.

Although we plan our meetings for thefirst Saturday of each month, our sched-ule is very flexible. If for some reasonthere is a conflict for the first Saturday

of the month, we meet the second Sat-urday. If that does not work we waituntil the following month.

We reach out and support concerns andprojects of the church and sometimesthe community. For example, last Aprilwe helped with the pillowcase project.In the past our free-will donations havebeen used to purchase Bible study ma-terials for the church.

New members are always welcome. Weknow that there will be times when youwill not be able to come. That happensto all of us. We are very understandingwhen you have to miss.

If you are looking for a group to join butcan't make a weekly commitment, thisis the group for you. The ladies carpoolfrom the church to the home of GladysChamberlain at 9:30AM. Study runsfrom 10 to 11:30.

We have a group of 6 to 9 ladies thatcome frequently. Please consider add-ing your presence to this group.

Due to Labor Day weekend, our firstmeeting of the fall season will be onSeptember 10. We will begin the sea-son with a brunch.

Sunday, September 11 th , will be a very special Sunday for many individuals in thecongregation. Children in 3 rd grade will have their first Bible handed down to them. Inaddition, after a lot of hard work, Billy Birdsall and Justin De Russo will be confirmed.If you have a child entering third grade in the fall, please see Sarah Huiest toensure the presentation of a Bible.

On Sunday , September 18th

, Sunday school will hold an orientation and welcomebreakfast for children age 4 through 12 th grade and their families. Following breakfast,children will visit with their teachers, while parents meet with Sarah Huiest and receivean overview of the year. Registration forms will be available in late August. Also, allyouth workers will be commissioned on this Sunday; this includes Nursery workers, Chil-dren’s Worship leaders, Sunday school teachers, Youth Group leaders, and those whoprovide the Children’s Message.
