AOC Aliancys Potable Water Resins Include:

Resin technologies are essential in protecting potable water from the effects of both chemicals and nature. These protective materials are used in tanks and pipes in water sanitation, storage vessels and delivery conveyances to consumers. Choosing the right resin and the right partner is imperative in manufacturing suitable materials for potable water. That is why AOC Aliancys has developed a comprehensive range of resins for potable water applications that meets health and safety requirements, and makes it easier for fabricators.

Potable Water Resins AOC Aliancys’ resins for potable water applications provide protective barriers in commercial and domestic potable water systems. These resins meet global health organization NSF/ANSI 61’s strict standards for minimizing chemical contaminants in drinking water. When they are used as directed, the fabricator does not need to perform additional testing to manufacture NSF/ANSI 61 compliant coating — eliminating the time and expense for approval. These innovative resins have been used in a variety of potable water.

AOC Aliancys put its potable water technology to work in March 2018, when a large water supply pipeline unexpectedly collapsed in downtown Amsterdam — significantly reducing the capacity of the city’s water network. The 600 mm diameter pipe delivered water to a large number of households in the center of town.

The customer initially thought a brand new pipe would need to be installed, but open cut excavation would have required major construction in a very busy part of town — and would block road and water traffic for several months. The soft, underlying soil also posed the risk of shifting and causing cracks in the surrounding buildings. CIPP contractor Insituform was hired to rehabilitate the pipe and restore water supply using innovative trenchless techniques.

Fortunately, there was a nearby 100-year old, unused cast iron pipe, which could be converted into a new drinking water pipe by applying Insituform’s state-of-the-art Insitumain relining system — impregnated with AOC Aliancys’ new styrene-free Beyone 700-T-01 FC resin. Using this technique, Insituform created a new,

50 meter composite pipe inside the existing pipe in only two days. The renovated drinking water pipeline was back in service within five working days without any impact on quality. The composite pipe provides structural integrity, corrosion resistance and reliable performance for many years to come.

Customer Partnerships Insituform and AOC Aliancys have been working together for the last 5 years to develop this robust relining technology. Liners with Beyone 700-T-01 FC have already seen many successful installations for potable water networks in several countries.

AOC Aliancys’ unparalleled product performance promotes the global growth of faster, safer applications within markets ranging from industrial plants to water lines. With industry-leading research and innovation, AOC Aliancys’ high-grade, safety-certified resins extend the service life of potable water systems.

The transportation industry is changing as composites replace metal components in cars, trains, buses and more. The reduced mass of these innovative composite systems improves fuel economy and lowers carbon emissions. Their formability improves both the aesthetics of interior parts and aerodynamics of exterior parts. And their mechanical strength provides a longer service life. These combined benefits increase the demand for modern composite components — such as body panels, doors, ceilings, floors and structural components.

AOC Aliancys has driven the use and acceptance of composites in transportation markets for decades. And both manufacturers and consumers have experienced the countless advantages that these formulas bring to vehicle efficiency, design and maintenance.

Lightweight vehicles that lower operating costs will continue to drive the demand for composites. AOC Aliancys supplies resins for a range of transportation industries, and will continue to develop new solutions to meet manufacturer needs. With AOC Aliancys on its side, the transportation industry will go great places.

Sheet Molding Compound (SMC)AOC Aliancys has created the lowest density, best surface aesthetics SMC formula on the market today. The specific gravity is 1.2, which is comparable to aluminum and 15% lighter than steel. SMC has additional benefits such as resistance to rust and corrosion, shorter design-to-manufacturing cycles, and less energy to produce a finished part. And the shared technology from AOC Aliancys’ teams in Americas, Europe and China will only continue to improve the flexibility, durability and sustainability of SMC parts worldwide.

AOC Aliancys has helped bus manufacturer, VDL Bus & Coach, incorporate multiple composite components into its new Citea series of lightweight buses. VDL has created a reputation for high quality buses with a modern look and designs made to address passenger needs. With composites and AOC Aliancys resins, they can meet all of their objectives and create lighter weight vehicles, which leads to lower emissions.

Process The components are made with a custom AOC Aliancys resin and specially formulated resin compounds supplied by BUFA Composite systems. The foaming resin compound is used in the vacuum expansion process (VEX), which is a type of liquid molding process (LMP) to reduce cycle time and greatly reduce weight.

AOC Aliancys continues to expand innovative composite technology for the transportation industry through vinyl ester resin for carbon fiber applications. It offers superior fiber wetting to epoxy based-systems, resulting in improved strength and stiffness for light-weight molded components. Carbon fibers are already lighter and stronger than glass fibers. When combined with AOC Aliancys’ resin for automotive and carbon SMC applications, they offer greater value to customers — through consistent quality and predictable performance in high-volume manufacturing.

KEY BENEFITS:

Page 11: CROSS VOLUME LINK · 2019. 3. 20. · a range of transportation industries, and will continue to develop new solutions to meet manufacturer needs. With AOC Aliancys on its side, the

Resin anchors distribute the load over a larger area, which reduces the stress in any one place. This causes fewer cracks to the concrete and less harm to surface paint. And they can be placed closer to edges, fit around corners, and anchor irregular shapes.

For their numerous benefits, resin anchors are quickly becoming the method of choice for many builders. For roads, bridges and other applications that involve high loads, AOC Aliancys is supplying superior resin technology to construction markets across the globe.

AOC Aliancys is staying on the cutting edge of construction through the use of resin anchors, also called chemical anchors. Ideal for high-load applications, resin anchors are steel bolts which are bonded to a substrate, usually concrete and masonry, using a resin adhesive.

The Cutting Edge of ConstructionResin Anchors Offer Better Strength, Safety and Security

Typically, the resin anchoring system consists of a two part cartridge — one containing a resin paste and the other a chemical catalyst. A hole is drilled into the substrate, and the resin catalyst components are mixed into the cavity, then the metal rod or bolt is inserted into the hole. The resin anchoring mixture will then begin to cure, bonding the metal part into the substrate.

Resin anchors’ unique combination of strength and elasticity have made them a popular alternative to mechanical cartridges, which are screwed into the substrate at the tip. Because all the stress is concentrated at the tip of the anchor, mechanical anchors have been known to cause cracks in the concrete. While they can be installed more quickly, they can become loosened, dislodged or rusted much more easily.
