Loving Frankl in Grove fami l ies,Autumn has already come to us. Although it is cold outside, we can real izeGod’s grace and love through a beautiful autumnal sky and red leaves. Wehave to give thanks and praise to God because God is the Creator who madeeverything in this world.
Last Friday morning, I visited the Frankl in Grove Nursing home and TheMeadows with Gary Cater. Gary and I met our older church members there. We read together Psalm 23 and prayed for them. On that day, I was muchimpressed by an event. When we read Psalm 23 for our members, theyremembered and recited it with us. Most of them are over 80 years old, butthey sti l l remembered and recited the Word of God. Moreover, Ruth Schi ltz,who marked her 100th birthday on September 24, recited Psalm 23 as wel l . I twas a marvelous event for me. Through this wonderful event, I real ized twoimportant principles that a Christian must know to get the blessing of God.
One is that I am awake to the gravity of faith education in Sunday schoolfrom chi ldhood. Most of our older church members have learned much faithknowledge about God, the Scripture, prayer, and praise in church as wel l asin their homes from chi ldhood. I have also grown from a simi lar situation. From chi ldhood, I have learned devotional l i fe as a Christian from my parentsand Sunday school teachers. Especial ly, they emphasized the importance of arecitation of the Word of God in my l ife. They always said to me “Blessed isthe one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are thosewho hear it and take to heart what is written in it” (Revelation 1:3). I fyou want to receive God's blessing, you have to read, hear, and practice theWord of God. Also, you must teach God’s commands to your chi ldren.Through the pious training from chi ldhood, our chi ldren can be faithfulChristians as wel l as successful leaders.
Another is that I am aware of the importance of obedience in the Word ofGod. When I first visited Ruth, she said to us that “I am a lucky womanbecause I wi l l mark my 100th birthday.” However, I strongly bel ieve Godloves Ruth and blesses her. Let us hear Proverbs 3:1-2 “My Son anddaughter, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in yourheart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring youprosperity.” Ruth has remembered the Word of God, kept the commands ofGod in her heart, and walked with the Word of God for her whole l i fe.Therefore, God is sti l l loving and keeping her.
Loving brothers and sisters in Christ, even though we l ive a busy l ife, let usread the Bible and recite the Word. Let us also teach God’s Word to ourchi ldren. There is wisdom of l ife, prosperity, and blessing from God in theScripture. Autumn is the time of harvest. What do you want to harvest at thisautumn? God has already given us plentiful fruits of thanks in this year. However, I hope al l F.G. fami l ies wi l l try to receive many more blessings fromGod through the Word of God. God loves you. In Christ,
Pastor Jin-HoHong
