Why deal with multiple contractors to repair different pipe systems? Nu Flow owns several patented technologies thatcan be used to line the piping systems found on multi-unit residential properties, from potable mains to underground

electrical conduit lines. This Virginia condominium complex chose Nu Flow’s non-invasive and non-destructive

solutions instead of traditional repairs that would have caused property damage and resident relocation.

Project: Use dual technologies to rehabilitate the condominium complex’s failing cold water main and electrical

conduit pipes in-place.

Customer: The community management group of Crosswind Condominiums.

Site: Crosswind Condominium is located in Fairfax, Virginia. The complex is

made up of several two-story buildings with a total of 150 units.

System: The entire cold water main for the complex is made of copper andranges from 3/4" to 1.5" in diameter. This pipe line is located beneath the

complex’s landscaping, as well as units’ patios and front door steps. In addition,

Nu Flow also lined two electrical conduit piping systems that are located

underground. The pipes are all around 40 years old.

Problem: The cold water main experienced pinhole leaks, which is a common

failure caused by the water chemistry’s effect on copper. Since the main is

located underground, beneath landscape and the entrances of residents’

homes, the customer did not want destruction to prohibit customers from

entering or exiting their homes. Two units’ underground electrical conduit piping

systems were leaking at the joints, which allowed water inltration.

Circumvention: If the customer had chosen a traditional repair method, such as a repipe or reroute, for the potable main and electrical conduit

rehabilitations, it would have created a disruptive amount of destruction on the

residential property. Piping inside and outside of the units would be dug up,

causing resident relocation and large mess. After the pipes would be replaced,

a contractor would have to be paid to replace the dirt, concrete slab, tile and

landscaping back to its original condition. A traditional repair would have been

very expensive and time-consuming for the customer.

Solution: The potable water main was rehabilitated using existing access

points. This project was completed in just a few days – a small fraction of the

amount of time it would have taken for a traditional repipe. Technicians used the

Nu Line system to rehabilitate this underground main in-place, without causingany destruction to the property or homes. An epoxy coating was created by

using patented blown-in technology. This barrier coating will prevent future

pinhole leaks and other common failures.

The Nu Drain system was used to rehabilitate the leaking electrical conduit lines. Using unique, Pull-in-Place

technology, a structural liner was pulled through the 2" diameter pipe lines. The liner cured to form a seamless,

protective pipe-within-a-pipe, which will prevent water inltration and other failures.

Nu Flow has the innovative solutions to rehabilitate all types of piping systems within a residential complex. Prevent

expensive destruction, lengthy pipe system downtime and resident dislocation with Nu Flow’s in-place pipe lining

technologies.

Blown-in technology

was used to create an

epoxy coating within the

potable main, preventing

the need to dig and

destroy the residents’

homes or complex’slandscape.
