If you sufferfrom aphasia, here aresome tips that will helpyou get by in your day today life.1. Interact withfamily/close friends.This interaction isimportant for them tounderstand the situationand deter frustration. 2. Inform conversationalpartners. Let them knowyour condition if youintend to have an in-depth discussion. 3. Provide feedback. Ifsomeone is speaking toofast, ask them to speakslower.4. Use visuals. Whengrocery shopping, bring inthe empty product

wrapper and show theemployee so they canassist you. When at arestaurant, point tomenu item if you cannotsay it.5. Take your time.A common symptom is torespond “yes” when whatyou really mean “no.”Take the time you needto say what you mean. 6. Use communicationaids such as a piece ofpaper with the alphabeton it or pictures of somecommon activities.8. Carry an identification"business card" with yourname, emergencycontacts, physician’sname and telephonenumber, and thismessage: “I have aphasia,which is an impairmentof the ability to speakand/or understandwords.”Remember to ask forhelp if you need it!!
