I have the ability to solve difficult design challenges by coming up with a way to execute a solution. My designs and typography skills are very unique and professional. I have received two Gold State Addy awards and one Silver Regional Addy Award. I have also had many pieces of artwork in student shows. By those viewing my work, I hope to bring attention to the fact that I am a talented designer. I will continue to have a great view of design as if I were in a Crow’s Nest navigating the way.

DESIGN STUDIO LOGO AND POSTERThe logo for SPROUT is to represent growth and being healthy. The orange organic shape symbolizes fruit to show that eating fruit is good for you. The sprouting leaf in the orange is to show growth. Putting the two elements together represents growing healthy. This logo was also entered in the student art show in 2011 at the Greater Flint Arts Council (GFAC) and in the ADDYS and received a gold student ADDY award and a Silver Regional ADDY award.

The poster shows an array of color to have visual interest to all ages. It is an informative poster to help children and parents eat healthy, and to prevent obesity. This poster was also entered in the student art show in 2011 at the Greater Flint Arts Council (GFAC).

CLIENT - CORPORATE IDENTITY LOGOA client had asked me to do a logo for their business. They are a childcare provider for Army Child and Youth services. I wanted to develop a child friendly logo to draw attention from children and adults. The friendly looking bee makes the logo seem inviting and gives it charm. The building blocks are a representation of early child development starting with the earliest of learning toys.

CLIENT - CORPORATE IDENTITY LOGOThe owner for “In The Dog House Bakery” was in need of a logo. I wanted to incorporate some elements that i noticed at the bakery because people will remember them. As I entered the building, there was a red frame, in shape of a dog house. In the logo, I added the house along with a dog and a treat. To add these elements I placed them in the word “DOG” and had the entrance of the house as the “O”.

CLIENT - BANNERA student at U of M Flint needed a banner for his new physics fraternity. This banner is to help attract new students to join their group. When I think of physics, I think of Einstein and space. I combined the two images to help define their fraternity and what they do. The type used for the fraternity letters is modern and metalic looking in order to give it a “with the times” feel for this fledgling fraternity.

MULTI-MEDIA ILLUSTRATIONThis image is a combination of pencil and digital illustration. The soldier memorial and the two patches on both corners are drawn in pencil and then brought into the computer. Once brought into the computer, I manipulated the color and contrast to show more shadows and dimension. The rest of the image has typed names of soldiers who died for our country.

NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION CAMPAIGN The World’s greatest Office Party is a fundraiser for Whaley Children’s Center. This is an annual event held around Christmas at a banquet to help raise money for the children without families. Each year, there is a new theme. The theme for 2012 was Cirque de Carnival. Each marketing piece carried that theme and had a feeling of Christmas. This logo and some of the elements in the marketing materials were used in commercials billboards to attract attention to the event. Materials that were needed for the fundraiser are mentioned below and shown on the next page.

BAND CAMPAIGNSix Seconds to Oblivion is a metal band out of Flint. They formed their band in 2010 and were in need of merchandise. To help them out I designed what they needed to get them started. Each piece in their campaign has the image of a planet with the sun’s horizon. The campaign is based on Oblivion. When I think of oblivion, I think of space and infinity. Materials that are needed for the campaign are mentioned below and are shown on the next page. 1. Logo2. Bumpersticker3. CD package4. T-shirt5. Flyer6. Poster

DIGITAL PHOTO ILLUSTRATIONThis photo illustration is showing what 2013 will look like after the zombie apocolypse. I used three different photos to make the grass, clouds and cracks. I also used a cracked pattern and an assortment of brushes to make the buildings and cars look worn down. To make the image more depressing, lighting effects and gradients were used to cast shadows and add light. This poster was also entered in the student art show in 2011 at the Greater Flint Arts Council (GFAC).

CORPORATE IDENTITY LOGO & WEB SITEThe logo for the American Democracy Project shows unity and progression. The A for American are two people working together. The blue dots going above the logo go from light to dark, small to big to represent time and progression. This piece was entered in the student art show in 2011 at the Greater Flint Arts Council (GFAC).

The web site for the American Democracy Project is clean and informational. It is about what the program does for the community. The rays are to bring visual attention to the information, title and the buildings. The columns are to make it easy to find categories you are looking for about the program and what it offers.

TRAVERSE CITY PICTOGRAMSThe pictograms are to help navigate around Traverse City to all the major events and destinations. When designing these pictograms, I thought that having them made out of wood will go well with the look of the city. The wood will be carved and then painted red or black. Red because the city is known for the Cherry Festival and black to make the outlines. This piece was entered in the student art show in 2011 at the Greater Flint Arts Council (GFAC).

During Earth Day, many people make arts and crafts to celebrate the holiday.

Types of crafts include recycled materials that people threw away. Instead of tossingthem in the garbage, people make useful things out of something. This is a good way to have fun with creativity. You can make egg carton flowers, tissue boxes, notebooks, and more. Its a great idea

to teachkids and other people that not all garbage

is really garbage. Just like the saying “One man’s garbage, is

another man’s treasure.” Its all about recycling. If you think of it,

when yourecycle, you are having it shipped out to get remade into something else. Its the same

thing that you are doing when you are making a craft, from something that normally gets

thrown away in the garbage.

Earth Day was first thought of in 1963 by Senator Gaylord Nelson. He was worried about where our earth was going to end up looking like. He knew that our earth was filthy. Many animals and plants were dieing to this reason. It’s a surprise that no one else thought of this as a problem as well because everyone was getting effected by it.The Senator began to go around the country to inform people of this great problem. Not enough people were working on this problem so Senator

Nelson had another great idea.In 1969, He decided to have a special day to teach people

about things that needed to be changed on our planet. He would put in articles in Scholastic Magazine, and

also write letters to the colleges to tell people about this day.

In 1970, Earth Day was an official holiday all around the world. People were

finally making a change in the world.

During the celebration, people from all around the world volunteer. Schools get together to have kids participate with the community in some way. Students learn to care for the environment and why it is bad to litter. Teachers or parents teach the children how to recycle and create new things out of stuff they normally just through away.

Another way people celebrate Earth Day, is to plant trees. If everyone planted a tree, it would help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, clean the pollution, secure soil in place to prevent erosion, and provide homes for a lot of animals.

In some communities, there are fairs that celebrate Earth Day. It is where schools, your neighborhood, or your street have an interest in getting together to

have a fair to get the community involved with the environment. During the fair they would have

healthy / locally grown foods to eat, animal care demonstrations, games for children made of

recycled products, arts and crafts that are safe for the environment, and teach people to recycle. Also there would be earth day music played, skits, books, and fund raising. This is a great way to get your family and the community

together and have a great time.

April 22, 1970 was the first Earth Day. People were making promises to help keep the earth clean and continue helping the environment. Everyone got involved and since then, Earth Day has spread all over the planet. People around the world are aware of the problems we have and know what we need to work on. This is a special day to appreciate our planet and help keep it looking nice and keeping it clean.
