78. Varieties/ Technologies Developed in the last 10 years

. The rainfed technology developed and adopted in the watershed was found

suitable, economically viable and ecologically sustainable in managing the problems

of the ravinous watershed of Yamuna river namely; Contour bunding, Land leveling

and smoothening, Contour furrowing, Field bunding&leveling, Sunken structures

along with Vegetative barriers of Vetiver, Saccharummunja and Rambans in

controlling soil loss & runoff.

In situ rain water harvesting techniques, the residual organic mulch @ 3t ha-1

was found more remunerative in conserving soil moisture, reducing splash

loss and getting higher sustained yield in urdbean – mustard cropping pattern

under rainfed condition.

79. Significant (i) I joined as Asstt. Professor at MawaiBuzurg Research Station, Banda. I took

Page 15: csauk.ac.incsauk.ac.in/biodata/dr_Ratan Prakash Singh_ahd_biodata.docx · Web viewI joined as Asstt. Professor at MawaiBuzurg Research Station, Banda. I took the cudgel of streamlining

contributions in the area of specialization ( not more than 5

the cudgel of streamlining the revenue documents of the farm which was in

tit-bits at the Tahsil level and illegally occupied by local people. I succeeded

in my job and was able to get demarcated the boundary of 20.7 acre farm and

acquire its proper possessions.

(ii) Total farm area was ravenous having undulated topography and covered

with dense Prosopisjuliflora. For scientific stepwise development of the

farm area prepared a report on soil survey and proposed plan far watershed

management and agro forestry at research station. The master plan so

executed is still in progress.

(iii) I have conducted two experiments of agri-horticulture and one each

on agri-silviculture and agri- pastoral system.

(iv) It is established that organic mulch of 4tha-1 gave a maximum yield

of 36.11 q ha-1 as compared to 25.97 q ha-1 under farmers’ practice under

rainfedJowar (Varsha).

(v) In rainfed mustard crop variety (Vaibhav) proved superior to Rohini and

Basanti varieties and it gave a maximum yield16.79 q ha-1 and highest

monetary return with application of organic mulch

@ 4 t ha-1.

(vi)The mustard sown at 40 x 15 cm spacing with the application of paddy

straw mulch @ 3 t ha-1 was found more remunerative on rainfed mustard

in eroded soil of central U.P.

(vii) Organic mulch and N80P40K40 kg ha-1 fertility level was found most

suitable practices among all other moisture conservation practices

according to net return and optimum grain &stoveryield of Jowar crop

grown on eroded soil.

(viii) In situ rain water harvesting techniques, the residual organic mulch @ 3t

ha-1 was found more remunerative in conserving soil moisture, reducing

splash loss and getting higher sustained yield in urdbean – mustard
