A Message from the Executive Director Things are in full swing at Complete Senior Care PACE for the holiday season! The center is filled

with glimmering holiday lights, real pine wreaths, vibrant red poinsettias, festive table center pieces,

snowflakes and of course, a beautiful Christmas tree. But most importantly, we are spending time

together as our Complete Senior Care family and truly enjoying this very special time of year. As a

matter of fact, participants are making Christmas cookies as I write this and the smell is wonderful! You don’t necessarily have to come to the center however to “see” Complete Senior Care this holiday

season, as we are participating in some popular local festivities:

When in Lewiston, stop by and see the Complete Senior Care contest entry “Home for the

Holidays” window display and decorated tree at the Allstate Agency at 419 Center Street. While the window and tree will be there for you to admire all season long, you can cast your

vote for the decorating contest (wink, wink, nudge, nudge!) December 5-6 during the

Lewiston Christmas Walk. And special thanks to Phil Mastantuono for his generous

sponsorship of our contest entry again this year!

The Niagara Power Vista is hosting the Festival of Trees December 1-January 1. You can

now see the trees lining the pedestrian bridge while travelling on the Robert Moses Parkway.

On Saturday, December 12 from 10 am to 4 pm, they are holding their Deck the Halls event

with free holiday activities and viewing of the trees, which are decorated by area non-profits.

Check out the decorated CSC tree…..it’s beautiful!

Special thanks to our staff-- Julie O’Connor, Dorothy Gallagher, Patricia Jones and Michelle Suitor to

represent our program in such a fun and festive way.

Happy Holidays to you all. We wish you the very best of health and happiness for the 2016 New

HOLIDAY TIPS

The holidays can become overwhelming due to family

gathering/holiday parties, keeping up with traditions, or doing

additional cooking and shopping. Below are tips that AARP

shared in November 2014 that might be helpful to keep in mind.

1. ANTICIPATE YOUR OWN HOLIDAY HOT

BUTTONS: Are there holiday activities or toxic relatives

that trigger stress? Minimize the drama, don’t try to

resolve longtime family problems over the holidays, try

short encounters and develop quick exit strategies.

2. KEEP SELF-CARE AT THE TOP OT THE LIST: It’s

easy to let this slip when you’re even busier than usual.

Keep it simple and incorporate it into your daily care

giving routine if possible.

3. PLAN AHEAD AND FOCUS ON WHAT IS MOST

MEANINGFUL: Perfection is not the goal of the holidays

– joy is! Cramming more into your already crazy schedule

can push you over the edge, so consider what is really

doable before you commit.

4. ASK FOR HELP FOR YOURSELF AND THOSE YOU

CARE FOR: Even if you don’t usually pay for help,

consider doing so now, since hiring someone to assist for a

few hours can be a huge relief.

5. START NEW TRADITIONS: Instead of focusing on what

you’re not doing, try doing something new. Give the gift of

time or attention rather than costly presents. Attend a

holiday concert you’ve never gone to before.
