Professor Department of Computer Sc. & Engineering, SIET, Allahabad January-June, 2017 International Seminar on Governance and Engagement in Blockchain Development International Seminar on Governance and engagement in Blockchain Development was jointly organised by IEEE Special Interest Group on Blockchain, Computer Society of India Allahabad Chapter and CSI-SIET Student Branch on March 20, 2017 at Shambhunath Institute of Engineering & Technology (SIET), Allahabad, India. Keynote Address was delivered by Professor Greg Adamson of University of Melbourne, Australia. Professor Greg Adamson, is actively engaged in blockchain developments for more than three years. In addition to his academic research, he has been working as a risk manager at a major Australian bank in the field of trade and payments, and is currently Principal at Digital Risk Innovation Centre. He is chair of the IEEE Special Interest Group on Blockchain, and a member of the Standards Australia TC-041 on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology. He is also Chair of IEEE Design for Ethics Ad Hoc. His experience includes data communication, supply chain, cyber security, e-business, professional ethics, and the Internet. Prof. Greg in his keynote address, explained in detail about the Blockchain, the technology behind bitcoin which is emerging field of technology capable of securing both financial services and any supply chain applications. Yet to achieve that promise requires the development of globally inter-operating standards. In his presentation, Prof. Greg covered description of blockchain technology, its basic characteristic and applications. Programmes being undertaken to achieve standards and governance in blockchain implementations were also discussed. At the end, Prof. Greg satisfied the queries of the participants in interactive session. Event was webcasted live. International Seminar was inaugurated with lighting of the ceremonial lamp and welcome address by Prof. D.K. International Seminar on Governance and Engagement in Blockchain Development

International Seminar on Governance and engagement in Blockchain Development was jointly organised by IEEE Special Interest Group on Blockchain, Computer Society of India Allahabad Chapter and CSI-SIET Student Branch on March 20, 2017 at Shambhunath Institute of Engineering & Technology (SIET), Allahabad, India.

Keynote Address was delivered by Professor Greg Adamson of University of Melbourne, Australia. Professor Greg Adamson, is actively engaged in blockchain developments for more than three years. In addition to his academic research, he has been working

Dr. Mithlesh Mishra, Vice Chairman Cum Chairman-Elect of the Computer Society of India, Allahabad Chapter highlighted the key points deliberated during the event and formally expressed gratitude to Prof. Greg Adamson for delivering a wonderful & information rich keynote address on a burning topic through

well as deep interest in the participants about the advantages and drawbacks of the use of bitcoins, crypto-currencies.

Technical Lecture on Automation & ICT Applications at IFFCO, Phulpur Unit & Industry Visit On March 10, 2017 an industry visit of Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) Phulpur Unit – a fertilizer cooperative federation, was organized for the students of Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Shambhunath Institute of Engineering & Technology (SIET), Allahabad to have onsite exposure and gather the knowledge of the automation and ICT applications implemented therein to facilitate the routine working and monitoring of the different units/ plants of an industry.

Sri Subrata Sur, senior manager, training and his team gave detailed presentation about the IFFCO, its plants &

infrastructural facilities, complete business process, ICT applications in use for carrying out routine business & monitoring activity of IFFCO Phulpur unit. Students were guided to different plants to witness the working

Workshop on Automation in UPSRTC & visit to Regional Workshop On March 7, 2017 a visit of Regional Workshop of UPSRTC at Jhunsi, Allahabad was organized for the students of Department of Mechanical Engineering of Shambhunath Institute of Engineering & Technology (SIET), Allahabad to have actual working experience of major repair, maintenance as well as assembly reconditioning work of fleet of around 10000+ buses of UPSRTC primarily manufactured by Ashok Leyland & TATA. Volvo & Scania carried out through regional workshops. Regional workshop at Jhunsi, Allahabad has also tyre retreading plants to provide in-house tyre retreading facilities.

Senior Manager along with his team of foremen briefed the students about the UPSRTC, automation (inventory management, use of automated systems in maintenance) and the maintenance facilities available in the regional workshop. Students learnt and experimented with assembly and reconditioning work of engine & other spare parts of buses.

Computer Society of India Foundation Day Seminar On March 6, 2017, on the occasion of CSI Foundation Day, Seminar on Current Trends on Wireless Computing & Communication was organized by Computer Society of India Allahabad Chapter in association with CSI-SIET Student Branch at Shambhunath Institute of Engineering & Technology, Allahabad.

Prof. Shekhar Verma, HOD(IT), IIIT, Allahabad delivered invited talk on Emerging Trends of Wireless Communication Technologies & Wireless Computing Applications.

Er. M.M. Agnihotri, General Manager, BSNL, Allahabad, the Chief Guest on the occasion enlightened about the role of Internet Service Providers, services offered by BSNL in establishing requisite communication infrastructure especially in rural India for implementing the e-Governance initiatives of Government of India and the State Government.

Young Talent Search Software Quiz Competition On 22.01.2016, Young Talent Search Software Quiz Competition has been organized by Computer Society of India Allahabad Chapter and CSI-SIET Student Branch. In all 92 students of B.Tech. (Computer Science and Engineering) participated in the event. Workshop on Spoken Tutorial on Linux OS On April 1, 2017, Workshop on Spoken Tutorial on Linux OS was organized at SIET, Allahabad in association with IIT Mumbai. 100+ students participated in the workshop. Er. Prashant Srivastava & Er. Pankaj Tiwari, faculty coordinators successfully organized the workshop.

EUREKA-2017-Annual Techno-Cultural Festival From April 10-12, 2017, all institutions of Shambhunath Group, student clubs/ chapters/ student branches of professional societies including CSI participated in organizing technical, cultural, musical and sports activities. Eminent dignitaries visited campus during the Eureka-2017- Annual Techno-Cultural Festival was organized at SIET, Allahabad.
