8. Controller, communications equipment enclosure, electricity supply pillar and all pole locations to be agreed with the CYC
Traffic Signal Engineer before associated installation works commence.
9. Controller will normally run VA but shall be connected to UTC for fault reporting, data collection and if required (fixed time)
UTC control;
10. The Controller base shall be a NAL 'cabinet style' appropriate for the controller type.
11. The controller shall incorporate an integral UG405 OTU facility (32 control and 32 reply bits) and include an armoured
cable to the fibre termination device in the communications cabinet.
12. TrafiCams (wide angle) and ThermiCams (wide angle) cameras mounted on extension brackets shall be utilised to
detect vehicular traffic and cyclists. TrafiCams cameras are mounted on Poles 8, 9, 10 and 13 and a ThermiCam on Pole 2;
13. TrafiCams and ThermiCams shall be cabled back to the controller using externalised cable. Adequate I/O shall be
provided in the controller.
14. Communications to the site shall be provided utilising the CYC 'dark fibre' which shall be arranged (including supply of
a fibre termination device), installed and commissioned in the Communications Equipment Enclosure (CEE) by CYC.
15. The traffic signals contractor shall install an externalised CAT6a cable between the CEE and the top of the Pole 12 (6m
pole) leaving 3m spare at each end.
16. CYC shall supply and install a CCTV camera on Pole 12 (6m pole), connect to the externalised CAT6a cable, connect
the externalised CAT6a cable to the fibre termination device and commission the CCTV.
17. CCTV and communications cabling shall utilise traffic signal ducting.
18. No signal equipment shall be installed with less than 450mm clearance from the kerbface.
19. All street furniture to be black.
20. PDUs shall have combined pushbuttons and displays, standard field of view, and the alignment shall be agreed on site
with the CYC Traffic Signal Engineer. Tactile cones to be fitted to the right hand unit only.
21. Audible devices are not used.
22. Island to south is 3.0m wide and the northerly island 2.1m
23. All works shall comply with the latest edition of the City of York Council Traffic Signal Installation Requirements
(currently Version 9.2).
