THEFOLLOWINGINSTRUCTIONS
1. Theadmissionof thecandidate to theExamination isstrictlyprovisional. Until thecandidature is formally confirmed by the Commission it continues to be provisional. Ifhe/shedoesnotfulfiltheeligibilityconditionsprescribed intheNoticeoftheExamination,he/she will not be allowed to take the Examination and/or not called for Interview orPersonalityTest(PT)orrecommendedforappointmentevenifhe/shehasappearedattheExamination/IntervieworPT.2. IfanycandidateappearsataCentre/SubCentre/orinthesubjectotherthantheoneindicatedbytheCommissionintheAdmissionCertificate,thepaper(s)ofsuchcandidatewillnotbevaluedandhiscandidaturewillbeliabletocancellation.3. The candidate is required to enter the Examination Hall 20 minutes before theprescribedtimeofthecommencementoftheExamination.NocandidateshallbeadmittedtotheExaminationHallafterTENminutesofthescheduletimeofcommencementofeachpaperineachsession.4 (a) The candidate should bring his/her own pen and ink. He/she should also bringhis/herownMathematical/Engineeringdrawing instruments, includinga flat ruledividedon the edges into inches and tens of an inch and into centimetres and millimetres, setsquaresanddrawingboardforuse,wherevernecessary. Candidates are allowed to bring Scientific (NonProgrammable type) calculatorsPROGRAMMABLETYPECALCULATORSWILL,HOWEVER,NOTBEALLOWEDANDTHEUSEOFSUCH CALCULATORS SHALL TANTAMOUNT TO RESORTING TO UNFAIR MEANS BY THECANDIDATES. Borrowingor interchangingofcalculators intheExaminationHallanduseofstencilsofmapswillalsonotbepermitted.(b) TheUnionPublicServiceCommissionwillsupply,wherenecessary,LogarithmicTableforreferencepurposesonly. No candidate shall be allowed to use or even to keepwith him/her his/her owntables/books/charts/electric slide rules/Logarithmic tables, stencils of maps etc. in theExaminationHallandifhe/shedoessohe/shewillbepenalized.(c) Candidates should attempt questions relating to Graph on Graph Sheet to besuppliedbytheInvigilatorondemandonly.Candidateswhofailtoobservethisinstructionwillbepenalized.

(d) THECANDIDAESSHOULDNOTBRINGANYARTICLES(OTHERTHANTHOSESPECIFIEDABOVE)SUCHASBOOKS,NOTES,LOOSESHEETSETC.INTOTHEEXAMINATIONHALL.(e) ThecandidateshouldreadcarefullyandfollowscrupulouslytheinstructionsprintedonthecoveroftheAnswerBooksuppliedtohim/herintheExaminationHall.(f) The candidate must see that every answer book supplied to him/her has SerialNumberontheCoverPageandcontainstherequirednumberofpages(MainAnswerBook24pagesandthesupplementaryanswerbook8pages).Incaseanswerbookisunnumberedorshortofanyleaves,thefactshouldbebroughttothenoticeoftheInvigilator/Supervisor.(g) The candidate shouldnot tearoutany leavesoranyportion fromhis/herAnswerBook.(h) Thecandidateshouldwriteonbothsidesofpaperinhis/herAnswerBookexceptthebackofthefrontcoverpage.(i) The candidatemust answer the prcis question, if any, only in the special prcissheetsuppliedtohim/her.Candidateswhofailtoobservethisinstructionwillbepenalisedbydeductionofmarks,asitdeemfit,fromthetotalmarksinthepaper,otherwiseaccruingtothecandidateinthatpaper.(j) Ifacandidateusesmorethanoneanswerbookhe/sheshouldstateinthefrontpageof the first answerbook (MainAnswerBook) the totalnumberofanswerbooksusedbyhim/her.(k) The candidate must sign on each occasion in the prescribed form when he/shereceivesfrom,orreturnstotheInvigilatoranyreferencebooksuppliedtohim/herforuseintheExaminationHall.(l) MOBILEPHONESNOTALLOWED:Mobilephones,pagersorothercommunicationdevicesarenotallowedinsidethepremiseswhere the examination is being conducted. Any infringement of these instructions shallentaildisciplinaryactionincludingbanfromfutureexaminations.Candidatesareadvised intheirowninterestnottobringanyofthebanned items includingmobilephones/pagerstothevenueoftheexamination,asarrangementsfortheirsafekeepingcannotbeassured.(m) Candidateshouldnotleaveanyblankunusedspacebetweenanswers.IfsuchspaceisleftitmustbescoredoutbythecandidatesandindicationssuchasP.T.O.orcontinuedmustbegivenbeforereturningtheanswerbook.5. The candidatemustwrite inhis/herownhand in ink. In no circumstances,will acandidatebeallowed thehelpofa scribe towriteanswer forhim/herexcept forvisuallyimpaired candidates,as laiddownunder the rules forCivilServicesExamination. Answermust not be written in pencil. Pencils may, however, be used formaps, mathematical,drawingorroughwork.

36 (i) THE CANDIDATEMUSTWRITEHIS/HER ROLLNUMBER (ANDNOTHIS/HERNAME)ONTHESPACEPROVIDEDFORTHEPURPOSEONEVERYANSWERBOOKWHICHHEUSES.(ii) ALL THE CORRECTIONS AND CHANGES IN WRITING ROLL NUMBER MUST BEINITIALLEDBYTHECANDIDATESASWELLASBYTHEINVIGILATORANDCOUNTERSIGNEDBYTHESUPERVISORALSO.(iii) THECANDIDATEMUSTWRITEHIS/HERROLLNUMBERONLYINTHESPACEASSIGNEDFORTHISPURPOSE.ONTHEFRONTCOVERPAGEOFTHEMAINANSWERBOOKANDTHESLIPSATTACHEDTOSUPPLEMENTARYANSWERBOOKS,HE/SHEMUSTNOTWRITEHIS/HERNAME, ANSWER BOOK SERIAL NUMBER, ADDRESS OR ANY SUCH DETAILS WHICH WILLDISCLOSEHIS/HER IDENTITYANYWHEREELSE INHIS/HERANSWERBOOK. SUCHDETAILSMUSTNOTBEDISCLOSEDEVENASPARTOFANANSWERe.g.,ANSWERRELATINGTOLETTERWRITING.IFHE/SHEDOESSO,HE/SHEWILLBEPENALISED.(iv) INSIDE HIS ANSWER BOOK HE MUST NOT WRITE ANY IRRELEVANT MATTER, i.e.,ANYTHINGOTHERTHANTHEACTUALANSWERSTOQUESTIONSSUCHASANAPPEALTOTHEEXAMINERFORMARKS,CRITICISMOFQUESTIONPAPERETC. IFHEDOESSO,HEWILLBEPENALIZED. 7. The candidate should place inside his/her Answer Book all loose sheets such asprcissheets,graphssheets,drawingsheets,mapetc.whichmaybesuppliedtohim/herforanswering questions, whether used or not and fasten them and the additional AnswerBook(s) if any, securely. HE/SHEMUSTNOTWRITEHIS/HERROLLNUMBERORANSWERBOOKSERIALNUMBERONTHESESHEETS.8(a) THE CANDIDATES MUST ATTEMPT QUESTIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEDIRECTIONS GIVEN IN EACH QUESTION PAPER. IF THE QUESTIONS ATTEMPTED ARE INEXCESSOFTHEPRESCRIBEDNUMBER,ONLYTHEQUESTIONSATTEMPTEDFIRSTUPTOTHEPRESCRIBEDNUMBERSHALLBEVALUEDANDTHEREMAININGIGNORED.8(b) Candidatesmustnotethattheyshouldanswerallpartsandsubpartsofaquestioncontinuously intheanswerbook. Inotherwords,candidatesmustnotmixparts/subpartsofdifferentquestionsinthesequenceoftheirattemptintheanswerbook(s). Candidates leaving blank spaces/pages within the answer books (whether forattempting leftover parts of a question or otherwise) are advised to ensure thatspaces/pagesremainingblankareclearlycrossedoutbeforetheanswerbooksarehandedovertotheinvigilator.9. Candidateshouldwrite thepaper legiblyandneatly. Forbad/illegiblehandwriting,theCommissionmaydeduct,asitdeemfit,fromthetotalmarksotherwiseaccruingtothecandidate.

410. CandidateshoulduseonlyInternationalformofIndiannumerals(i.e.1,2,3,4,5,6etc.)whileansweringquestionpapers.11. Answers must be written in the medium of examination or as directed on eachQuestionPaper.Answerswritteninunauthorisedmediumwillnotbeevaluated.12. CandidatemustfilluptheparticularsinthespaceprovidedinthecoverpageoftheMainAnswerBook,includingtheTableprintedthereon.13. Nocandidateshallcopy from thepaperofanyothercandidate,norpermithis/herownpaper tobecopied,norgive,norattempt togive,norobtain,norattempt toobtainirregularassistanceofanydescription. NOCANDIDATESHOULDWRITEANYTHINGONTHEADMISSIONCERTIFICATEORONTHETIMETABLEORONTHEINSTRUCITONSTOCANDIDATEINTHEEXAMINATIONHALLORBEFOREENTERINGTHEEXAMINATIONHALL.NOCANDIDATEWILLWRITEANYTHINGONTHEQUESTIONPAPERINTHEEXAMINATIONHALL.14. No candidate shall leave the Examination Hall without prior permission of theInvigilator/Supervisorforanypurpose,whatsoever.15. Nocandidateshallbepermittedto leavetheExaminationHalluntilthefullallottedtimeof thepaperhaselapsed. Thedecisionof theSupervisoras towhether the timeasindicatedaboveforadmissiontoorleavingtheExaminationHallisoverornotandregardingexpiryoftheallottedtimeshallbefinal.16. Candidate intending to go to the toilet will be escorted by an Invigilator. In nocircumstancesshouldacandidategotothetoiletunescorted.Nocandidateshallbeallowedtogotothetoiletduringthelast30minutesoftheexaminationineachsession. He/Shemustnot carryanyexaminationmaterial to the toilet. Whilegoing to thetoilet,thecandidatemustclosehis/heranswerbook. Ifacandidateslipsaway from the toilethe/shewillnotbeallowed to reenter theExaminationHall.17. Thecandidatemustnotcontinuetowriteorrevisehis/heranswernorshouldhe/sheengagehimself/herselfinconversationwithanyothercandidateaftertheexpiryofthetime.Ifhe/shedoessohe/shewillbepenalised.18. ThecandidatemustnotleavetheExaminationHalluntilspecificallypermittedbytheSupervisor/Invigilator to do so. On conclusion of the examination, the candidate shouldhandovertheanswerbookpersonallytotheInvigilatorbeforeleavingtheExaminationHall.Candidate who takes away used or unused answer books with him/her is liable to beseverelypenalized.19. Thecandidateshouldalsonotethathe/sheshouldnotstandorloiterinandaroundtheExaminationHall/RoomafterbeingpermittedtoleaveonconclusionoftheExamination.

SMOKINGORTAKINGTEAETC.INTHEEXAMIANTIONHALLISSTRICTLYPROHIBITED.LIGHTERMATCHBOXESORANY INCENDIARYMATERIALSHOULDNOTBEBROUGHT INSIDETHEEXAMINATIONHALL.22. The candidatemust abide by such further instruction asmay be specified on thecoveroftheAnswerBookoranyotherinstructionwhichmaybegivenbytheSupervisororInvigilatorof theExamination. If the candidate fails todo soor indulges indisorderlyorimproperconduct,he/shewillrenderhimself/herselftoexpulsionfromtheexaminationand/orsuchotherpunishmentastheCommissionmaydeemfittoimpose.23. TRAVELLINGANDOTHEREXPENSESMUSTBEBORNEBYTHECANDIDATEHIMSELF/HERSELF.THECOMMISSIONDONOTMAKEARRANGEMENTSFORBOARDINGANDLODGINGOFTHECANDIDATE.
