Project Gyan IT

• The project aim is to impart computer education in rural areas

• GTL Foundation sets up static computer labs in secondary & higher secondary schools in Sindhudurg district of Maharastra

• Typically 8 to 10 computers are installed in each of these schools, along with hardware and software support

• The Foundation also conducts computer training for the teachers

• Aim is to spread the light of knowledge and computer education in remote rural areas

• The foundation conceptualized and created a state of the art bus equipped with its own generator set, air conditioners and eight computers all networked and loaded with the relevant software

• This bus moves from one school to another in the identified remote area, where village schools can be covered.

• The vehicle halts at a particular school for 20 days and provides computer education to children in batches

• Aim is to spread literacy among families on public health, sanitation and health measures

• Each VKC has 6 sets of computers, printer and a trainer.

• All the trainers are young rural woman who have completed basic computer courses like MS-CIT

• The trainer teaches school students Microsoft Unlimited Potential (MSUP) package and engage children with Interactive Learning CDs

• Livelihood skill training program also provides in these VKCs

• The Scholarship covers from Jr.Kg to Post Graduation and also covers working students

• Aim is to bring about a positive changes in the lives of visually impaired through IT training and education.

• The Foundation has initiated Project Netra and has set up two Advanced Computer Training Centers for the Visually Impaired in Mumbai

• The students are also given personality enhancement training so that they can interact with people confidently

• Help is given to students for getting placed in IT companies

No of students: 110 basic course students, 10 students in hardware course and 50 advance course students

No of students in jobs: 40 advance course students are doing jobs in various IT companies, call centers and other companies

• Aim is to help blind play chess on equal footing with sighted persons

• Chess Software for the Blind (TALK 64) has provided more than 1 lakh practice games, along with different openings and variations

• The software has speech and multiple language support with user-friendly interface

• GTL Foundation has entrusted All India Chess Federation for Blind (AICFB) for the promotion and distribution of Talk 64 software

2000 visually impaired people play chess with Talk 64 chess software.

• Aim is to improve the health of people living in rural areas

• The services are offered through a mobile health van for remote rural areas of Sindhudurg district.

• The health van provides health awareness, free checkup and medicine for the rural people who cant afford to go to hospitals

• The mobile van is fitted with modern medical instruments and also has one specialist doctor

• The mobile van usually visits rural schools, and conducts awareness campaigns on various medical issues with villagers and farmers

GTL Foundation has launched Employee Volunteerism Program to encourage active employee volunteerism. Employee Volunteers are known as Positrons and they are actively engaged in various volunteerism and social causes.

25 volunteers group had taken part in World Changers Program 2008-09.

60 volunteers participated in Mumbai Marathon 2010, 30 volunteers in Delhi Marathon 2009.

In 2009, 155 volunteers donated blood. 15 volunteers engage in the development of street children,

staying with AASARA (NGO) 5 volunteers assist in soft skill development and English language

training program for visually impaired students.

• Employees also come forward on need basis in case of emergencies

Business for Social Responsibility Award Business for Social Responsibility Award for Corporate Social Responsibility 2006 Bombay Stock Exchange Limited in association with Times Now felicitated GTL's CSR initiative by presenting it with the "Corporate Governance Business for Social Responsibility" Award in 2006.  Pegasus Silver Award GTL was honored with the "Silver Award in the Pegasus Corporate Social Responsibility Awards". The Pegasus Corporate Social Responsibility Awards 2007 held in Mumbai on 12/12/2007.

Best Employer of the blind GTL has been selected by National Association for the Blind (NAB) India, to receive the 12th Piloo Dorab Khambatta Memorial Award for this year under the category of "Best Employer of the Blind" on March 14, 2006.

President of India AwardGTL employee was choosen as the “Best employee in the blind category” and was felicitated by the President of India for our CSR efforts

Best practices in IES CSR award GTL Foundation was honored at Indian Education Society Management College and Research Centre Udaan 2009,for the best practices in CSR on the 5th March, 2009. IES, Mumbai and Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MACCIA) instituted the award.

Golden Peacock Award for Innovation GTL was honored with the Golden Peacock Innovation Award for the Knowledge on Wheels, a CSR initiative of GTL.
