The said sum marks L&T’s Corporate support along with one day’s sal- ary contribution from its employees extending their solidarity to the noble cause. This contribution will be used by the State for rehabil- itation programmes of those affected by the Cyclonic Storm that ravaged districts of Tamil Nadu. In addition, the list and names of 273 cornea donors --- all L&T staff and family members who had pledged their eyes – was also present- ed by KVR to Dr. Sheila John, Head Tele Ophthalmology, Sankara Nethralaya at HQ Chennai on March 29, 2012. L&T Construction and its Staff lend solid support to Sankara Nethralaya

L&T and Sankara Nethra-laya have cherished strong association. L&T has built and supported many facili-ties for Nethralaya. Sankara Nethralaya has also been conducting many eye camps for L&T and Prayas, provid-ing quality eye care service to the community of under-privileged. As a step for-ward in this collaborative Corporate Social Initiative, Mr. K.V. Rangaswami, Advi-sor to Chairman, presented a cheque of Rs. 4 lakhs to-wards L&T’s sponsorship for a Topcon Slit Lamp equip-ment which will be used by Nethralaya in all their eye camps.

In addition, the list and names of 273 cornea donors --- all L&T staff and family members who had pledged their eyes – was also present-ed by KVR to Dr. Sheila John, Head Tele Ophthalmology, Sankara Nethralaya at HQ Chennai on March 29, 2012.

Prayas Trust Chen-nai launched its new web-site on 19th March at the HQ campus. Mrs. Geeta Naik unveiled http://ecc-prayas.org/ in the presence of Mrs. Jyothi Venkatara-manan, Mrs.Chitra Rangas-wami, Mrs. Sharada Shankar Raman, Mrs. Swasti Roy, Trustees, Affiliates, Office Bearers and members of Prayas Trust.

APML-TIRODA team donates blood

A Blood donation camp was organized at CHP-TIRODA site on 28th January. The camp was organized in association with the Govt. Hospital, Gondia Blood Bank. Mr. T.B.Krishnaith (Project Manager), Mr. P.R.Sarvanakumar (Account Manag-er) and Mr.Jagdish Kumar (EHSO) along with the staff, sub-contractor supervisors and workmen participated in the camp and donated 46 units of blood.

was organized at BARC Phase-1 Project, Mysore in association with Supriya Hospital and Mysore Medi-cal College Research Insti-tute on 23rd January. 42 donors participated in the campaign.

A Blood donation camp was organized at South city Housing Project, Bangalore in association with St. Johns Medical college hospital on 21st January. Mr. Prasanna Kumar, Project Manager and the Mr. G. Raghunath, Regional Manager along with the client, staff, super-visors, sub-contractors and workmen participated in this camp and over 59 units of blood was donated.

A blood Donation camp was organized at MSIL Proving Ground Project- Rohtak in association with Haryana state Blood Trans-fusion Council. This camp was inaugurated by Mr. Masa Yamaguchi (Chief Project Engineer-NIPPO) along with Mr. Kundan Ku-mar – Project Manager. Cli-ent, staff, sub-contractors, supervisors and workmen participated in this camp and over 42 units of blood was collected.

A Blood Donation camp was organized at the Ra-jashree Cements Unit – IV, Malkhed Project site, HYCL on 24th January. 37 units of blood was donated from this camp.

Blood Donation Camp at Chennai Metro Tunneling Project

A blood donation camp was organized at the Metro Tunneling project Chennai (L&T SUCG JV) on 20th Janu-ary. This camp was held at the Nehru Park Station in pres-ence of CMRL and GC repre-sentatives, in association with Indian Red Cross Society. Mr.R.G.Saini, Project Director, inaugurated the programme and over 38 volunteers includ-ing workmen & staff contrib-uted to the noble cause. Ap-preciation certificates from Indian Red Cross Society and CAPACS (Chennai Corpo-ration AIDS Prevention and Control Society) were issued to the donors.

Blood donation camp at Godrej Genesis Project A Blood donation camp

was organized at Godrej Genesis Project on 6th March during the 41st National

Safety Week Campaign. The camp was held in association with Life Care Blood bank at site. Over 30 volunteers in-

cluding workmen, staff and client contributed to the no-ble cause.

Blood Donation camp at MRO Boeing Site

A Blood Donation camp was organized on 4th Febru-ary at the MRO Boeing Job Site – Nagpur, B&F IC- Hy-derabad Cluster. The camp was inaugurated by the Pro-ject Head Mr. Gigy Mathew and Mr. K.P. Maheswarap-pa, Project Manager. Client, staff, sub-contractors, super-

visors and workmen partici-pated in this camp and over 33 units of blood was col-lected during this camp. The site EHS team including Mr. A.K.Jaiswal, Mr.Sohail and Mr.Pruthvi along with the administration department organized this event.

Blood Donation camp at Oberoi Commercial ProjectA blood donation camp

was organized at Oberoi Commercial Project, Gore-gaon, Mumbai on 23rd Janu-ary. 50 donors including clients, staff and workmen donated blood.

Blood Donation Camp at Mumbai Sahar elevated road project

A blood donation camp was organized at Sahar el-evated road project, Mumbai on 1st February. The camp was held in association with Holy Spirit Hospital at the project site office in presence

of MAIL representatives. Over 57 volunteers in-

cluding workmen and staff contributed to the noble cause. Appreciation certifi-cates from Holy Spirit Hospi-tal were issued to the donors.

Blood donation camp at TATA – GIS, Mumbai

A Blood donation camp was organized at TATA – GIS, Mumbai on 12th Jan-uary in association with Pooja Blood Bank. This camp was inagurated by Mr.G.Senthil Kumar, Pro-ject Manager. The staff, su-pervisors, sub-contractors and workmen participated in this camp and over 26 units of blood was col-lected.

Blood donation camp at TCS Centre Project, Kochi

A voluntary blood dona-tion camp was organized at TCS Centre Project, Kochi on 16th January jointly with Blood Bank Aluva & Rajag-iri outreach project. Over 42 units of blood was collected from staff, PMC clients & workmen.

A blood donation camp was organized on 21st Jan-uary at the Utkal Alumina Job Site – Rayagada, MMH IC- Kolkata Cluster in as-sociation with Red Cross society, Dist. Head Quarter Hospital-Rayagada. This camp was inaugurated by Mr. Surya Kanta Mishra, MD & CEO-UAIL and Mr. V.Sapra, Jt. President (Project)-UAIL along with Mr. A.D Ghosh - Cluster Project Manager- WET and Mr. A.K.Dalui – Project Manager. Client, staff, sub-contractors, supervisors and workmen participated in this camp and over 102 units of blood were collect-ed during this camp.

A Blood Donation Camp was organized at the Bhush-an Steel Project Site Angul, Odisha on 21st January. The camp was inaugurated by the Project Manager Mr. Tinan-jan Mitra at the China Colo-ny alongwith Mr. C Srinivas

Rao, Sr. Manager, Accounts & Administration. 705 units of blood was collected in a single day, which is the high-est among the blood dona-tion camps arranged by the Red Cross Society, Angul.

CTS- SEZ, Siruseri organ-ized a Blood Donation Camp on 20th January in associa-tion with VHS Blood Bank. 86 units of blood was collect-ed during this camp.

(Client), FPI (PMC) along with the L&T Project Team donated 67 units of blood. All the donors were awarded with certificates by the Blood Bank.

Godrej Garden City Project conducts a Blood Donation camp

A blood donation camp was organized at the Godrej Garden City Project, Ahmedabad in association with Help Voluntary Blood Bank on 25th January. Dur-ing the campaign volun-teers from Godrej (Client), STUP(PMC) and the L&T Project Team actively partici-pated and donated 67 units of blood.

Blood Donation Camp at Wadhwa Commercial Project

Wadhwa Commercial Project, BKC organized a blood donation camp at site in association with Sarvo-daya Hospital Samarpan Blood Bank Ghatkoper, Mumbai. Mr. Jitendra Gup-ta (AGM) Wadhwa group, Mr.V.Bhavanishankar, EHS Manager Mumbai Cluster, Mr.O.V.Divakaran, Project Manager & Mr. S.D.Ambokar EHS In-charge participated in this camp along with the staff & workmen. Over 53 units of blood was donated from this camp.

Blood donation drive @ Kakrapara Atomic Power Station project, ITC Grand Chola Hotel Project & DLF Commander’s Court Project Site

Kakrapara Atomic Power Station project at Gujarat organised a blood donation camp on 17th January at KAPP 3&4 site. This camp was inagurated by the NPCIL Project director Mr.Lokesh Kumar and over 154 units of blood was donated.

ITC Grand Chola Hotel Project, Guindy, Chennai organized a blood donation camp and 50 units of blood was collected from this camp.

A Blood Donation Camp was organized at DLF Com-mander’s Court Project Site, Chennai in association with Dr. Kamatchi Memorial Hos-pital on 25th January. This camp was inaugurated by Mr. J.Anbu, VP- DLF. DLF staff, JLL staff along with the site staff, workmen and sub-contractors participated in this camp and over 40 units’ of blood was collected.

Bhubaneswar organized a Blood Donation Camp on 14th January and 51 donors including Clients, Staff & Workmen have donated blood.

CMRL Depot Pro-ject organized a blood donation camp at site in association with Indian Red Cross So-ciety, Chennai. Mr. P.Rajamoni – Chief Resident Engineer, EMBYE Consortium (General Consultant), Chennai Metro Rail Project, formally inau-gurated the event and over 43 units of blood was donated from this camp.

Nalgonda project organizes a blood donation drive at site

A Blood donation camp was organized at Nalgonda project on 7th January. The camp was held in association with Red Cross Blood Bank Nalgondaat site. Over 30 vol-unteers including workmen, staff and client contributed to the noble cause. All the donors were awarded with certificates by the Indian Red Cross Society.

At the Ahuja Tower Pro-ject Prabhadevi, a Blood Do-nation camp was organised on 20th January in associa-tion with the medical team of

KEM. Ahuja staff, DTZ staff, site staff, workmen and sub-contractors donated blood and over 104 units of blood was collected.

A Blood donation camp was organized at HIL Ma-han project Site on 5th March 2012. The camp was held in association with Blood Bank of Nehru Sa-tabdi Chikitsalaya- NCL Hospital, Jayant. 34 volun-

teers including client, staff members, supervisors and subcontractors contributed to the noble cause. All the donors were awarded with certificates issued by the Nehru Satabdi Chikitsa-laya- Blood Bank.

Blood donation drive at JIPMER Phase-II Project, Technopark Phase- III Project, Trivandrum, Substation project in Kalba – UAE, Saudi Aramco Project Office

A voluntary Blood dona-tion camp was organized by JIPMER Phase-II Project

Puducherry and BAJSS – TI project on 27th January. Over 33 units of blood was collected from this camp.

Technopark Phase- III Project, Trivandrum organ-ized a blood donation camp on 30th January in asso-ciation with Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute for Medical Science&Technology,Medical College Trivandrum. Over 40 units of blood was collected from this camp.

The staff at N 8033 132/33 kV Substation project in Kalba - UAE organized a blood donation drive on 25th January. This camp was held at the Kalba Hospital in pres-ence of PT&D (I) EHS Head and Project Managers of N 8033 & N 5629.1 Project. Over 47 volunteers including workmen & staff donated blood.

A blood donation camp was organized by the PT&D (International) Project team of Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia on 31st January. This camp was held at the Saudi Aramco Project Office in as-sociation with the Blood Bank & Transfusion Medi-

Mr. S.K.DAS – Project Manager flagged off this camp which is said to have achieved collection of the largest unit of blood in a single day in the Bhadrak district, Odisha.

MIOT International Project organized a blood donation camp at the pro-ject site on 19th January. Dr.Prof.P.V.A.Mohandas, Founder and Managing Director of MIOT Hospi-tals formally inaugurated the event. Over 167 units of blood was collected from this camp with the partici-pation of staff, departmental workmen and sub-contractor

workmen. This is said to be the largest blood camp with reference to the number of units collected in the history of MIOT.

Blood Donation Drive Panvel Complex supports blood donation

The Construction Skills Training Institute, Panvel organized a blood donation camp in association with the Indian Red Cross society Mumbai on 28th March.

Over 61 units of blood was collected from this camp. The staff and train-ees of CSTI & P&M Training institute at the Panvel Com-plex enthusiastically partici-pated in this programme. It has been a practice at CSTI to organized such camps once in a quarter and till date 443 units of blood has been col-lected and donated to Indian Red Cross Society, Mumbai.

SADYA 2012 – L&T Construction makes a remarkable debut

SADYA is an annual event conducted by Vidya Sagar which is a city-based organiza-tion that has been working with children with multiple dis-abilities for over two decades. SADYA 2012 was an event to cherish for the L&T’ites as they made their debut pres-ence felt. SADYA – An adven-ture challenge where corpo-rate teams indulge in sporting activities which has a mix of adventure, charity and fun.

Blood donation camp organized at the Address Project, Mumbai

A blood donation camp was organized at the Ad-dress Project, Mumbai on 28th January. This camp was held at site in presence of Clients -The Wadhwa Group and L&T representa-tives, in association with the State Blood Transfusion

Council. Over 40 volunteers including staff & Depart-mental Supervisors contrib-uted to the noble cause. Ap-preciation certificates from SBTC (State Blood Transfu-sion Council) along with a medal were given to all the donors.

210 villagers & 25 workmen get better sightAs a part of the organisa-

tions CSR efforts KAPP 3 &4 project organised a free eye screening camp at Moticher Village on 8th January. This camp was held in association with the Shreeji Eye Hos-pital and Pahco Center Vy-ara. Over 210 villagers and 25 workers from the labour

camp were screened for eye related problems along with a detailed eye testing.

The workers expressed their gratitude for conduct-ing such a camp that was beneficial to them. Essential drugs and medicines were distributed to the workmen free of cost.

The Project Manag-er Mr. I.Chandran, Mr. Y.Satyanarayana, Accts & Admin. Manager & Mr. Aslam Khan, Time office in charge along with the lo-cal Panchayat President & Ward Member flagged off the camp.

Over 230 residents of Sadhror Village benefit from a free eye camp

CHP/AHP-BMH Rajpura conducted a free eye check up camp at the Labour colony in Sadhror Village on 27th Janu-ary. Over 111 locals of Sadhror and 119 workmen residing in the colony benefitted from this camp.

An eye screening camp was conducted at Vicat Sagar cement project, Hyderabad cluster in association with Dr. Agrawal Eye Hospital from 6th to 8th March 2012. Mr. S. Ragothaman- Project Manager inaugurated the camp and the Site EHS Man-ager Mr.G. Bhaskar along with the Site accountant Mr.

Vegu Sreenivas & team co-ordinated the program.

Staff and workmen par-ticipated in the program and around 250 people were screened during this camp. The workmen were delight-ed about this opportunity and greatly benefited from this camp.

5th February with six corpo-rate teams participating in the event. L&T Construction was a new comer! Nevertheless, they fought out the competition with high spirits of sportsman-ship. The team from L&T was heterogeneous in terms of dis-cipline and IC’s. The Ten Men Army of L&T Construction jelled as a unit in no time and was performing to the best of their abilities in SADYA 2012.

tol Shooting followed by slow cycling on an obstacle course. Then the participants had to do Rock climbing on a 50 foot high artificial wall with the help of grips embedded on the wall. Scuba diving came next which involved tremendous team effort.

A few of the team mem-bers carried on multiple activi-ties outside meanwhile as the others assembled as a unit un-der water. The rest of the day was all fun and frolic as the dance floor came to lime light with a rocking DJ. To top it up, a camp fire on the dance floor set ablaze the whole environ-ment making it electrifying

Day 2 started off in a flash with Rappelling as the first event. A 50 foot wall was slid down with the help of safety harnesses in a flash by the team. “Pythogoras” was an event next in line which involved constructing a ma-neuverable triangle and per-forming laps with a person standing inside it. Then was a dynamic obstacle course which had to be handled us-ing several tactics and also tremendous physical work. It was a perfect combination of Brain and Brawn for the team. Fifth event for the day was “Blind folded Tent pitching” where the participants had to construct a tent blind folded. Co-ordination was tested out in all measures in the event. “Caterpillar race” – The last event had 5 members of the team facing backwards and 5 facing forward and walking in perfect unison on 4 pieces of wooden planks all joined together to complete as much

laps as possible. A tiring yet fun filled day closed with the all famous “Tug of War” as a fitting finale.

The team from L&T Con-struction was awarded the “Most Sporting Team” for high levels of sportiveness demon-strated during the competi-tion.

The basic idea of “SADYA” being sportiveness, it was fit-ting for the debutant L&T Team to bag the “Most Sport-ing Team” trophy with a prom-ise of topping the competition in the forthcoming editions.

The biggest satisfaction was that it was all for a noble cause. Rs 3 lac as the SADYA participation fee was the sum sponsored for the event and indeed this was a ‘CSR with a purpose’ that also help kindle and build ‘team spirit’.

Mr. V.S Ramana initiated participation in this with all HR heads at L&T Construc-tion, as a part of the organiza-tions CSR efforts.

Gian Sagar Multi-Specialty Hospital conducted the eye test, ECG and provided spe-cialized consultation for the participants. Free medicines were provided to those in need and also awareness pamphlets were distributed in Hindi, Punjabi and English.

GMR CHP Project team facilitates mid-day meals scheme for children

The GMR CHP Project Site, Raipur – MMH IC Hy-derabad Cluster, extended a helping hand to the Gov-ernment primary school at Chicholi situated near the project site on 27th March. The site donated 200 plates, glasses & water bottles for facilitating the mid-day meal scheme in the school. The Project Manager Mr.S.K.Dey along with the Block Edu-cation Officer Mr.R.Gupta distributed the items to the children.

Kalaivani welds a ladder of success

The first woman to walk in and successfully walk out of CSTI is Ms.Kalaivani, a young lady who showed great interest in the welding trade.

The enthusiastic lady, showed great passion in Welding and with special ap-proval, she was admitted in

CSTI-Kanchi. On 15th Janu-ary, Kalaivani successfully completed the training in welding and moved on from CSTI.

Kalaivani was thrilled with her achievement and profusely thanked L&T for the opportunity.

As a part of the organiza-tions role in educating and uplifting the rural children, the staff at GMR CHP Pro-ject – Raipur, Tilda MMH IC – Hyderabad Cluster par-ticipated in the Scout and Guide’s camp organized at the village Raikheda between 15th and 17th February.

Over 393 children from 26 village schools participated in this scout and guides camp which helped in inculcating a good code of conduct and be-haviour among the children. The camp also included ac-tivities like yoga, pranayama, awareness rallies, training programmes and cultural

As a part of L&T’s CSR efforts, the staff at HYRO reached out to the 150 boys of Asangananda Oriental High School located near CSTI-Jadcherla. This school, managed by Lalithambiga Trust protects the interest of orphan kids who are study-

Chennai Metro Elevated Corridor project paints Dr.MGR Medical University Campus Green

The Chennai Metro Rail Project, Elevated Corridor initiated a green drive and planted 1000 saplings at Dr. MGR Medical Univer-sity Campus on 10th Janu-ary. Declaring it as a tribute to Mother Nature, Project Manager Mr. S Balaji briefed

on importance of contribut-ing to a pollution free envi-ronment.

Village children benefitted from an eye camp organized at Jadcherla

A free Eye Screening Camp was conducted on 28th and 29th February in as-sociation with Dr.Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Hyderabad. The children living in villag-es, in and around CSTI Jad-cherla benefitted from this programme.

On the first day, 130 school children & staff from Asanga-

nanda Oriental High School for orphans were screened and 22 children were provid-ed with spectacles. And on the second day, 160 students from PS Polepalli Primary School and CSTI Trainees underwent screening. 18 stu-dents were identified with eye defects and were recom-mended spectacles.

SAIL ISP Burnpur staff reached out to local government primary school

On 24th March, the SAIL ISP-Burnpur site team do-nated benches and provided educational aid to Chapraid Free Primary School, a gov-ernment primary school lo-cated near the project site.

The school authorities thanked L&T for this sup-port and it was a delightful sight to see the cheerful faces of children, as they sat on the new benches.

Prayas, Bangalore organizes an educational tour for Andal Girls Home

Prayas Bangalore organ-ized a fun & learn trip for the girls of St. Andal Girls Home, Rajaji Nagar, Banga-lore. The children were taken to the Film City at Bidadi, off Bangalore-Mysore highway, on 28th January.

The team toured the place and saw many attractions such as, Ripley’s Believe it or not Museum – exhibition collections of Robert Ripley, Dinosaur World – a mini Ju-rassic Park, Fossil Museum exhibiting fossil relics from Jurassic Age, Cartoon City,

Wannado City – a role play based theme park, Scary House, Mirror Maze, Aqua World etc. The children were also taken to Louis Tussad’s Museum, where they saw the specimens of celebrities across the ages, Miniature City, a display of the models of wonders of the world, Joy & Water rides etc. The group was treated with a sumptu-ous lunch and snacks which re-charged them to walk around the premises the en-tire day.

Prayas Lucknow reaches out to Manisha Mandir

Prayas Lucknow along with the staff of LDA Pro-jects reached out to Manisha Mandir, a girl’s orphanage in Lucknow on 22nd March 2012.

The ladies of Prayas served lunch to all the in-mates and later distributed stationary items and eatables to the children. L&T also pre-

sented ten new almirahs for the home. The 37 children at Manisha Mandir were really excited and delighted and thanked the ladies for the time spent. The 75 year old Dr. Sarojini Agarwal who runs this orphanage was grateful to L&T for this sup-port.

Prayas Trust, Bangalore spreads its initiative on Diabetes Education and Awareness (IDEA)

The members of Prayas Trust, Bangalore organized an educational session on Diabetes – Prevention and Management at BLRO on 24th February. The session was chaired by Dr. Amal Selvam, Consultant Physician and Diabetologist along with the well-known Himalaya Drug Company. This initiative

on Diabetes Education and Awareness (IDEA) is part of the Prayas agenda to spread awareness on the disease which is affecting a major per-centage of the Indian popula-tion.

Dr. Selvam’s educative session was an eye opener to many. Dr. Shrikanth of Hima-laya Drugs answered queries

& clarifications addressed by the audience.

The programmed con-cluded with a free diabetes check-up camp followed by a display of Himalaya’s herbal products. Over 70 people ben-efitted from the camp includ-ing Prayas members, contract labourers, security personnel, drivers and pantry boys.

Team Shraddha supports thalassemia affected people

The Ladies society of the Kolkata Region - Shraddha, extended a helping hand to the Thalassemia Society of India (Kolkata) by donating Rs.1.50 Lakhs on 10th March.

This fund will be used in treating 25 Thalassemia major patients (10 children & 15 adults) undergoing iron chelation therapy for 3 months.

AIDS Awareness programmes at TCS Centre Project, Kochi and Technopark Phase- III Project, Trivandrum

A mass AIDS Awareness camp was organized at TCS Centre Project, Kochi on 25th January, jointly with Rajagiri Outreach, Kochi. Over 100 workmen were screened & blood samples were collect-ed for HIV testing. Mr. Jose Paul – a Counselor from Inte-grated Counseling & Testing Centre (ICTC) Vadavucode, Kerala was present during this programme.

Technopark Phase- III Project, Trivandrum organ-ized an AIDS Awareness programme and Medical Camp on 29th January in as-sociation with Kerala Aids Control Society Trivandrum. Over 168 workmen partici-pated in this programme.

NTPL Tuticorin project site of MMH IC from the Chennai cluster recently or-ganized a free Eye screening camp for the surrounding villages in association with Aravind Eye Hospital. More than 350 villagers partici-pated and 80% of the crowd belonged to the age group of 50-70 years.

The camp saw the largest turnover of cataract cases (62 patients) from these regions because of the awareness campaign carried out by the site team. These patients were sent the same day to Aravind Eye Hospital in Tirunelveli for operation. In addition to organizing the camp, L&T donated spectacles to nearly 110 needy people.

The camp was a great suc-cess and the initiative was appreciated by the villagers and hospital team.

Medical camp at HINDALCO, Mahan Project beneficial to 173 people

The staff at HINDALCO Mahan Alminium Project site conducted a one day medical camp at the Labour Camp on 26th January. This initiative was inagurated by the Project Manager Mr. J . Suresh. Over 173 workmen and people from the nearby village were screened for various ailments. Dr. Ra-hul Singh MD (In-charge of Morwa Public Health Cent-er) and Dr. Uma Kant Singh Gautam –MBBS (retired Civ-il Asst. Surgeon) along with a team extended support in conducting this camp. The

active involvement of Mr. Sabyasachi Sengupta (EHS Manager), Mr. R .K .Patra (IR Dept.) along with the help of local villagers, staff and workmen made this camp successful.

MIAL &Lakshya conduct a free eye screening camp

A Free Eye Screening Camp was conducted for the workmen at the MIAL Pro-ject site on 24th February. This camp was organized by the site team along with the members of Lakshya – La-dies Society in association with Bombay Eye Institute & Research centre.

Over 115 workmen, driv-ers, security personnel and

welders benefitted from this programme.

Over 200 people benefit from a health camp conducted by HMRL

B&F IC’s Hyderabad Metro Rail Project conducted a free Health camp for the staff and workmen at Up-pal Depot on 6th January. This camp was held in as-sociation with Icon Hospital, Hyderabad along with the in-house Medical Consultant Dr. Karunakar Rao. The en-tire project team consisting of Project Managers, EHS & Logistics Managers enthusi-astically participated in the inaugural function.

Around 40 staff and 200 workmen benefitted from this camp.

Over 340 people benefit from an eye screening camp at PBEL site

PBEL site, HYCL con-ducted a free eye screening camp at site on 9th January.

The Project Manager, Mr.Israr Khaja Ahmed head-ed this initiative along with

the Construction Manager, Mr. K. A. Md Rafi. The site staff, workmen and the em-ployees of the client under-went eye screening and over 340 employees benefited

from this programme. The doctors from Dr.Agarwal’s Eye Hospital tested the par-ticipants and advised the necessary course of action.

Bhushan Steel Project Team distributed school bags, study materials & sweet pack-ets to the students of Kankalu Nodal U.P School Meraman-dali, Dhenkanal, Odisha.

More than 150 students benefitted from this pro-

gramme held on 30th March 2012. The programme was inaugurated by Mr.Tinanja Mitra, Project Manager along with Mr. C Srinivas Rao Sr. Manager- Accts. & Admin, Senior staff along with their families participated in the event.

Over 650 workmen benefitted from eye camp at Vizag

VSP BF # 3 & WRM # 2 project sites at Visakhapat-nam organized an eye camp on 25th January in association with Vision Express. Mr. Y.S. Srikanth - Project Manager led this initiative with the entire site team including staff and workmen who participated enthusiastically. Around 650 workmen & 25 staff benefit-ted from this camp.

Tree Plantation & AIDS awareness programmes held at Birla Surya project

Birla Surya project site, Rajewadi organized a Tree Plantation programme in the District Primary School, Wing. More than 20 trees were planted in the school premises.

The site also organized an HIV-AIDS awareness Camp at site and over 250 work-men participated in this programme.

Utkal Alumina Rayagada site conducts eye checkup for drivers & operators

An eye checkup was con-ducted at Utkal Alumina Rayagada Project site (MMH IC), Odisha on 5th January for all the drivers & opera-tors at site. With a medical team led by Dr. B.K.Misra, Eye Specialist, Raygada Govt. Hospital, over 104

people benefitted from this camp. The Project Manager Mr. AshimDalui, Site Ac-counts & Administrative In-charge Mr. P.K.Das and EHS In-charge Mr. N.K.Dhal led this initiative. The camp was inaugurated by Mr. S. Bis-was, VP(HR & Safety)- UAIL.

Health CampsISP Burnpur project partners with a local NGO to extend medical support

The staff at ISP- Burn-pur Project, participated in a medical camp organised by Debashish Ghatak Foun-dation, a reputed NGO in Asansol working towards Health and Social welfare activities for the poor in the local community through its charity Health centre.

On 24th March, L&T Do-nated medical equipment including Digital Blood Pres-sure Machine, Weighing Scales, Glucometer, Stetho-scope and few other appara-tus along with furnitures for the Charitable Dispensary. The programme was attend-ed by many important lumi-naries who spoke highly of L&T’s corporate excellence, goodwill and commitment towards the society.
