Air : The quality of air in our hotels is as fresh as the air in the lower Himalayan region
For Existing Hotels
Increased treated fresh air infusion for higher human productivity and better health.
Automated enhanced thermal comfort for occupants.
Use of ‘Green Seal’ certified Housekeeping chemicals and equipment.
Mechanical means of elimination of rodents and use of eco-responsible pesticides.
For New Hotels

Water: ITC HOTELS treat & recycle enough water capable of irrigating 65,000 trees, whichaids in sequestering approximately 13,000 tonnes of CO2.
For Existing Hotels
Reduction of water consumption by 50% in the last five years
Sensor operated fixtures, waterless urinals, dual flush water closets, flow restrictors
have reduced the water consumption by as much as 50% vis-à-vis the LEED®benchmark.
Only treated recycled water is used for landscape, cooling tower and miscellaneous
cleaning, resulting in a further reduction of water consumption.
Excess treated recycled water is shared with local municipal authorities and
educational institutions for irrigation of landscapes, gardens and forests.
Reduced water demand in Cooling Tower through use of advanced technologies.

For New Hotels
40% saving of fresh water consumption vis-à-vis the national base data for luxury
hotels
Water efficiency in air conditioning systems – 100% reduction in water consumptionfor AC usage
Drip irrigation & sprinklers by design, for entire landscaping and gardening
Separate waste-water treatment plant for Grey and black water. Reutilisation of
treated water for flushing thereby reducing water consumption.

Energy : ITC HOTELS generate enough green energy through self-owned wind farms capableof lighting up the entire Delhi – Mumbai Highway.
For Existing Hotels
Approximately 25% of electrical energy demand is met through renewable source
i.e. Wind and Solar
All hotels use 18-29% (average) less energy than USEPA’s (United StatesEnvironmental Protection Agency) benchmark for large size Luxury Hotels.
Usage of Solar Thermal system for hot water and low pressure steam application –
aiding in reduction of fossil fuel consumption.
Usage of non-ozone depleting refrigeration gases.
Building operating systems like Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning (HVAC)
system, Thermal system, Water management system and Building Management
System have been upgraded to ensure increased performance efficiencies (10-18%
enhanced performance)

For New Hotels
100% of electrical energy demand is met through renewable sources i.e. Wind and
Solar
Approximately 40% energy saving as compared to the national average base data for
luxury hotels
Green chillers that provide Air conditioning comfort with lowest electrical
consumption
Variable pumping system for Air-conditioning which saves more than 10% ofelectrical energy vis-à-vis conventional system
Energy efficient cooling towers which consumes 15% less energy vis-à-vis
conventional system.
Sensors that gauge Carbon dioxide in various areas and release fresh air for guest
comfort, hence reducing the energy consumption
Room temperature and humidity control by Automated Room Controller, resulting in
saving of energy
Multi-glazed windows that ensure minimal heat penetration thus reducing the air
conditioning load
Back of the house areas are provided with Variable Air Volume (VAV) based AC
leading to energy saving & productive work environment
Energy efficient boilers with automated Oxygen supply aiding low fuel consumption
100 % waste heat utilization for hot water generation
Use of Solar energy for cooking
Usage of LEDs in guest and public areas

Material : 40% of ITC HOTELS edible ingredients are procured locally, thus promotingsustainability & reducing carbon footprint.
For Existing Hotels
More than 99% of the total solid waste is either reused or recycled through recycling
programs and organic waste is converted into manure by Organic Waste Converters.
50-60% of ongoing consumables (stationery in guests rooms and offices) used in ITCHotels are either sourced locally or contain recycled content.
Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) paints and locally sourced or FSC (Forest
Stewardship Council) certified wood is used for all refurbishments and renovations.
As much as 40% of the food and beverage used in our Hotels is harvested and
processed locally within 160 kilometers of the hotel.
Usage of LED lamps that are energy efficient with no mercury content.
For New Hotels
Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) paints and locally sourced or FSC (Forest
Stewardship Council) certified wood is used for new Hotel constructions.

Conclusion
ITC group conducts a lot of csr activities like for retail it does e-choupal and other many such
activites.
In the case of ITC hotels in the environment sector it has tried to give back to nature all the
resources it has used.
