CTC CHILDCARE SERVICES
BI-MONTHLY NEWSLETTER
December - January 2016
Welcome back to all of our families for 2016! We hope everyone had an enjoyable and safe break.
Family pockets can be found in the foyers of both centres. Please take the time to check your pockets , this is where you will find statements, newsletters and family correspondence.
This time of year we have children starting in new rooms and new children joining the centres. We encourage family input, this can be through weekend sheets, photos, conversations or contributing to the program or your child’s portfolio.
Events
On 1 December 2015 Pre-Prep held their graduation at Community Kids. This was a morning where families and staff came together to recognise the children’s achievements and the next phase of moving onto School.
3 December was CTC Children’s Services Christmas party, what a terrific turn out from families and staff. The night was celebrated in style with a sausage sizzle, face painting, Mr Wippie’s ice cream van and of course the favourite of the night Santa’s visit. Thank you to all of the families and children who attended for making it such an enjoyable evening.

Payments must be paid each week whilst your child is attending CTC Childcare Services. 0-2 Nursery
As an extension from some of the children’s beach holidays, the Educators and children explored an under water theme, creating paper plate fish, collage jelly fish, a group star fish and hand print crabs. Through these experiences the children’s fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and memory recall where enhanced. In recognition of Australia Day the children decorated flags.
The children have been exploring the sensory resources within the room. This has led to further developing children’s sensory skills, sight ,smell , touch, taste and hearing. This will extend into a variety of sensory experiences throughout the coming weeks.
2-4 Tigers
Children have expressed their holidays through creative art by painting pictures of their holidays and what they did, where they went and who they visited. From these pictures Educators extended onto dramatic play adventures and sparked discussions about camping and fishing. The children pretended to catch fish with their fishing rods seeing who could catch the biggest fish which then led to discussions about all the different types of fish.
Educators and children have been maintaining their gardens and have planted some new plants, this is an evolving project that has kept the children engaged and involved in the natural environment that surrounds them.
Pre- Prep
Dee has commenced at Community Kids as our new Pre-Prep Teacher and looks forward to the work she will do with all of your children. As it is the start of the year and the children are just starting to transition into their new environment they have been exploring all of the resources and equipment.
The children have been experimenting with numbers and recognition using room resources to count objects, photograph them and then display to visually see this link.
The children are exploring the natural world around them, collecting natural resources and building miniature gardens. This provides opportunities for the children to use their sensory skills.
School Aged Group
Vacation care was very busy and active with a variety of experiences from swimming, trips to the park, Carla’s Carnival visit, cooking experiences, arts and craft, and a visit from Bush Fire Brigade.
As it is the start of the school year, the children are getting back into routines, exploring the environment around them and starting new projects.
