We are truly grateful for our wonderful Pastors here at Cornerstone and for their care and wisdom. We are also thankful for the continual guidance and revelations shared by Pastor Chris each week. The Cornerstone family are extremely blessed. It is encouraging to look back at 2012 and reflect, being truly appreciative for the mighty men of God that have visited us this year.

We have hosted: Dr. Jerry Savelle, Pastor Tom Inglis, Pastor Chris Lodewyk, Pastor Moso Sona, Canon J.John, Canon Andrew white and Pastor Marty Blackwelder.

We have also had some fantastic artists sharing their giftings with us (these include): Vinesong, Miquel Brown, Bryn Haworth, Trevor Sampson and his band, Dave Reidy and Scott Nicol.

Our “Jesus in Your World” series has been incredibly insightful and we have enjoyed many interviews, namely Pastor Richard Fidge and Richard Manner as well as many of the artists who visited.

2. To have full access to the site and what it offers, you are required to subscribe for a small fee. Below the list, which is located on the left-hand side of the screen, you will see a series of coloured “button icons”.

6. The ‘Greek To Me’ study is not intended to teach people Greek, though it may be used to good advantage for that purpose. It is designed to help the reader discover some of the immense treasure that is embodied in the original Greek text. There is a ‘Word Index’ for a quick translation from English to Greek or a ‘Wordbook’ which elaborates upon word in their context and in great detail.

3. Once you have subscribed and filled in the registration form you can begin to explore the site in detail. Many have found the Wisdom Bites encouraging and motivating. They are weekly “bite size” articles written by Pastor Chris that give you a regular injection of God’s Word and address key issues that we face in our everyday lives. It is circulated via email to the friends of Cornerstone the Church, but if you have missed any they are all available online.

1. On the front page, you will find a list of many sections of the website designed to help you. With access to the lastest sermons, useful study tools, powerful wisdom bites and inspiring articles. There is so much to read and glean from.

4. There is a sub-heading ‘Wisdom Quotes’ which contains many gems of wisdom from throughout the Bible. There are also many pertinant quotes from poets and writers over the ages. If we keep an open mind we can learn from both sources of inspiration.

5. The Latest Sermons are also a very popular aspect of the website which is updated weekly with the Sunday message notes as well as links to the audio and video sermons.

Here is a step-by-step guide to help you navigate the new website:

One evening eight months ago, I knelt to turn on the fire in the lounge. A crack sounded from my knee, it seemed all right so I carried on as usual. I especially like to walk, and my two dogs are an incentive to continue this exercise. However, as time passed I noticed a pain, in the back of my knee. It worsened to the point where I could not bend my leg and certainly could not kneel. I even had to sit with my legs extended as bending was too painful. I prayed for healing for several months to no avail. Eventually I took myself to see my GP. He sent me to the orthopedic surgeon who said I had damaged the cartilage in my knee and that key-hole surgery should rectify it. A scan was booked. I continued to pray. The week before Pentecost God told me there would be a great outpouring of his Holy Spirit at the Sunday evening service. I spoke out this exciting news. After a wonderful Sunday morning service the evening arrived and I returned to church expectant of a move of God. At the service I felt joy, which is more than enough, yet I still felt this expectation too. Then I thought I heard the Lord say “Walk to the front”. I waited thinking it was my imagination. Again I heard “Walk to the front”. “But Lord,” I answered, “I can’t, Pastor Chris is talking and has not given an altar call!” “Walk to the front and kneel down” came the reply. “Lord, I don’t want to disrupt the service and I cannot kneel due to the pain in my knee and the difficulty getting up.” “Go, now,” came the response. I moved out from the middle of the row to the side aisle. Pastor Chris was still ministering

and I gave one last check with the Lord. I had no idea why I was to go forward. However, I wanted to be obedient and started walking. I arrived at the front row of seats and knelt. Tears were coursing down my cheeks, again I had no idea why, and I was kneeling! It felt as though there was padding under my knees, which was strange. How was I going to get up? I didn’t know, but as I continued to kneel Pastor Chris gave the altar call for anyone in pain to go forward. I got up (the anointing must have already begun its work), and went forward. Having been talking about the anointing of the Holy Spirit and His power, Pastor Chris decided to demonstrate it in the simplest of ways. He asked the young people to come forward to perform the laying on of hands, this, so that they would see that it was an anointing from God, not a particular individual that caused members of the congregation to “fall” to the floor. Indeed, three young people laid hands on me and I fell to the floor. One or two days passed and I continued to thank God for various things including my healing. As I did so I suddenly realised the pain behind my knee had gone and I was sitting normally. Praise God, what joy! Then I understood that’s why God had told me to go forward. God had tested my obedience and faith to do as He asked without foreknowledge or understanding, and without questioning, and He was faithful. What’s the moral of the story? Trust Him; never give up. “ Whenever I go to England the place that I always look forward to going to is Kidzone. We have so much fun, we play games, do arts and crafts, learn all about God and at the end of every lesson we get sweets.I feel so good about seeing all the friends that I have not seen in a long while,(and Godfrey the Big Bear!!!)But the best part of all is that you get to learn all about God in a fun way....” Zoe Watt - age 9

You may feel that you are lacking in some areas to live a fulfilled life. 2 Peter 1:3 reveals a wonderful promise: His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness….. Each day we can confess that we have all that we need – because that’s what God says! When we look at the wonderful provision of God for our lives, rather than the apparent lack of what we see in ourselves, we live from a position of strength and faith. The Apostle Paul said it this way in 2 Cor 6:10 …”having nothing yet possessing everything”. Sounds like a contradiction doesn’t it? The truth is we are lacking in ourselves, but in Christ we have it all!How do we cultivate this attitude? If we read on in 2 Peter 1:3,4, we see that we have all that we need through our knowledge of Him….and through His very great and precious promises. As we spend time developing our relationship with our Father God, and read the promises in His word, then the revelation will continue to bless us each day. I have all that I need to live a godly life today!

You’ve got it! - Pastor Paul

If the Lord asked me, “to duck walk down the church aisle with my guitar, playing Chuck Berry riffs,” my immediate response would have been, “Lord I’m on it.” And, once having completed my task, I would have had enough faith, that at my venerable age, there would be a chiropractor in the congregation.

However, to be asked to go forward for a full immersion water Baptism, evoked something of the spirit of Jonah. Apart from an innate aversion to being ‘dunked’ by anyone in water, it was not in the DNA of my Church of England background. I had been baptised when I was small and had deliberately chosen to avoid the ‘school conveyor belt’ of confirmation, as I felt it didn’t mean anything. And by the time I was confirmed, at the age of 22, I had been a Christian for a year. Consequently, applying the same pragmatic criteria, until I saw a need for it, I felt the chances of my falling into the River Wey and being swallowed by a whale were relatively slim.

A lifelong friend of mine sent me the testimonies of some heavy weight characters, who had been fully baptised in water. I was struck by the fact that the spirit of death had been removed from them, as both my grandfather and father had died in tragic

circumstances that could have been avoided.

But, on deciding for the good of the family to go forward for water baptism, I have never known such spiritual attack trying to dissuade me. The night before the baptism, the same friend phoned me to encourage me that I was like a dam that was holding back the influence of previous generations and it was a hard thing to do, which might not always be understood. And the following morning, another friend phoned to encourage me by suggesting I read Psalm 91.

Having actually made it into the Baptismal pool, God as a Father seemed to become more real. It was a revelation to realise that God could be pleased with me, in exactly the same way as He was with Jesus, when He was baptised: “This is my own dear Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Also, it cannot have been coincidence that my water baptism was on Father’s Day weekend. In a reading with the Praise and Worship team before the Sunday evening service from 1 Chronicles 28 and 29, King David is handing over the kingdom to Solomon and encourages the people not to forget the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And the thought struck me that in generations to come for my family, descendants will say, “Forget not the God of Charles and James (my son.)” I could now trace my line back through the patriarchs, back to the beginning of time, and everything that will one day come to fruition in the promises of Jesus Christ.

Have No fear, God is Near!

Greetings from HollandDear Pastors Chris and Loraine and Cornerstone family,Greetings from a very autumnal chilly but sunny Holland. Whenever Im over in Surrey I look forward to worshipping at Cornerstone. The Holy Spirit is alive in a powerful way!You are an amazing church and I continue to keep in touch via email and listen to your enlightening sermons. Where I live in Hilversum we are very fortunate to have a thriving international church called Thousand Hills which has impacted my life and many others too. Thank you for the inspiring email

received this morning in regard to Psalm 121. These words are such an encouragement and often speak to us personally at a point in time or season of life when we feel at a low ebb and weighted down with problems. Our Almighty God is all powerful and faithful and does not let go of us as we abide by Him daily in word and prayer. He carries us, maintains and sustains us through the storms of life. He protects and safeguards us from falling prey to the dark one. We are never alone when we have Jesus in our lives. Let’s keep our eyes on Him and be obedient as we hear His call as He shepherds us

and nurtures His precious lambs. Jesus Christ our Saviour paid a high price for our salvation. As we lay our sins at the foot of the cross let us walk in victory and glorify Him! Hallelujah!Even though I felt a little downhearted with those matters burdening me I know that they WILL be resolved because He is with me every step of the way. Please keep me on your mailing list. I shall be back in Surrey next month. With all joy and peace to you at Cornerstone.Yours in Christ, Anne Andriessen

“Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

This is one of my favourite scriptures. There is so much one can get from this simple but powerful concept. Let’s view the scripture in different sections, firstly “Though I walk through the valley...” This part of the scripture implies that we will go through difficult trails and storms in life but we will walk THROUGH the valley. It is not a permanent dwelling place, it is temporary, a short storm on the journey of life that we encounter on the road to fulfilling our destiny. Continuing to the next part; “valley of the shadow of death”, now it does not say “though I walk through the valley of death” does it? It’s the valley of the “shadow” of death not death itself. We are saved and no evil can touch us but sometimes we can feel close to all our problems, anxieties and negativities, sometimes we can feel as though we are right in the shadow of our worst fears but just remind yourself that it’s just a shadow and shadows can’t hurt you. Shadows are often very deceptive. When a light is shone behind a tiny

object at the right angle, the shadow will stretch out and become bigger and much scarier but we must look at the root of what is causing our worries. Look at the object through the triumphant eyes of God and that problem will look tiny and insignificant, it’s just the shadow that is deceiving you! Every situation comes under the name of Jesus Christ, we have the victory! The scripture goes on to read, “I will fear NO evil”!!!! Have no fear, God is near. Why must we have no fear? Because, “You are with me, Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.” Find comfort in knowing that God is with you every step of the way and His rod is there to protect you from predators coming to try and steal your joy and lie to you. His staff is there to lead you and guide you into all truth and righteousness and in Him we live and move and are. So today, rejoice and be thankful for all God has done for you and declare loudly that this is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it. Keep your eyes on Christ. You will be victorious, don’t worry!

God is someone that you have to get to know. He is as real as a person and getting to know Him allows us to develop a relationship with HIM that blossoms into intimacy. Intimacy with God means that we must spend time with HIS WORD, Joshua 1:8. Knowing His word, means understanding His mind and when we know His word, then we think His thoughts and therefore know God. In order to do so WE must approach Him BECAUSE He has already called us and is waiting to answer, Jeremiah 29:12. After all we have absolutely nothing to lose for “those who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits” Daniel 11:32.

IGNITE’S 6 LINES OF AWESOME!!

HOLY HUMOURUNANSWERED PRAYER :-A preacher’s 5 year old daughter noticed that her father always paused and bowed his head for a moment before starting his sermon. One day, she asked him why.“Well, Honey,” he began, proud that his daughter was so observant of his messages. “I’m asking the Lord to help me preach a good sermon.”“How come He doesn’t answer it?” she asked.GOOD SAMARITAN :-A Sunday school teacher was telling her class the story of the Good Samaritan. She asked the class, “If you saw a person lying on the roadside, wounded and bleeding, what would you do?”A thoughtful little girl broke the hushed silence with, “I think I’d throw up.”BEING THANKFUL :-A Rabbi said to a precocious six-year-old boy, “So your mother says your prayers for you each night? That’s very commendable. What does she say?” The little boy replied, “Thank God he’s in bed!”

Psalm 46:1 - ‘God is... a very present help in trouble’. Between the dread and the devastation, look for the Deliverer. Picture a boot lashed by huge waves, and frightened Disciples who thought they were going under. They forgot the promise: ‘God is a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear’. They didn’t look for Jesus to rescue them. Yet as the night advanced and things looked hopeless, ‘.....Jesus went to them, walking on the sea’ (Matthew 14:25 NKJV). Did they rejoice? No, their fear intensified and they said, “...it’s a ghost!” (Matthew 14:26 NJKV). Look out your fear can distort your perceptions and make you see the answer as just another problem. Often what appears a threat is actually a blessing about to manifest itself. For example, you lose or change your job and God opens up a better one, but your fear and inadequacy makes you avoid the interview. Look to Jesus in your time of fear, when He takes away the lesser it’s always to give you the greater. God’s best always requires facing what you fear. Jesus called Peter to come to Him. Deciding it was safer in the storm with Jesus than in the boat without Him, Peter walked toward Him. But there’s always a moment after you step out in faith when you hear, “what if I’m not up to this?” Peter heard it, and the waves began to engulf him. Panicked, he called and Jesus immediately rescued him. Peter wasn’t drowning; he was learning and growing. When you walk by faith, even your failures will lead to success. So step out with Jesus, He won’t let you drown! Just keep calm and keep passing the ammunition.....Pastor Richard Fidge
