Eastern Alamance High School Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle” EXPECT SUCCESS! CTE: Career and Technical Education Fall semester 2019 Volume 6 Issue 1 CTE Teachers become students during the summer! Mr. Smith and Mrs. Johnson participated in the week-long ACC MechTech Institute in June. During this time, they became students in the AATC building, which houses most of the skilled trades (welding, automotive, machining, HVAC). They were given the opportunity to work with currently enrolled ACC Mechatronic students on PLCs to understand AC voltage and current. In addition, they got to assemble a robotic arm (see the robotic arm in Mr. Smiths classroom or Mrs. Johnsons office (A1)). This institute is an initiative to educate teachers in an effort to recruit students to the Mechatronics field. There is an urgent need to train people in this field as local employers are seeing a decreased number of skilled workers for positions. EHS FCCLA members go to National Competition and BECOME WINNERS!!! Congratulations to Joselyn Carcamo and Trinity Gathright for receiving a Bronze Medal . Yaire Hernnadez received a Silver Medal. Kudos to these students for participating in this Ultimate Leadership Experience! Focus on Children event: Received a Bronze Medal. Hospitality and Tourism event: Received a Silver Medal.
