Eastern Alamance High School “Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle” EXPECT SUCCESS!
CTE: Career and Technical Education
Fall semester 2019 Volume 6 Issue 1
CTE Teachers become students during the summer!
Mr. Smith and Mrs. Johnson participated in the week-long ACC MechTech Institute in June. During this time, they became students in the
AATC building, which houses most of the skilled trades (welding,
automotive, machining, HVAC). They were given the opportunity to work with currently
enrolled ACC Mechatronic students on PLC’s to understand AC voltage and current. In
addition, they got to assemble a robotic arm (see the robotic arm in Mr. Smith’s classroom
or Mrs. Johnson’s office (A1)). This institute is an initiative to
educate teachers in an effort to
recruit students to the Mechatronics field. There is an
urgent need to train people in this
field as local employers are
seeing a decreased number of skilled workers for positions.
Visit https://www.alamancecc.edu/industrial-and-graphics-technologies-site/mechatronics-engineering-technology-2/ for more information on Mechatronics.
