Online prayer and

reflections

There is a daily reflec-tion posted on the All Saints’ Church website.

The Baptist Union of Great Britain are offering a time of prayer every Wednesday and Sun-day evening at 7pm at this BU Link.

There are also daily evening lock-down prayers at 9.30pm on our re-gional URC Synod’s Facebook Page.

Week of Guided Prayer

The Week of Guided Prayer from 14th –19th June is to help people, no matter what stage of prayer or faith they are at, to enrich and deepen their spiritu-ality, so that those moments of experiencing God’s love and receiving insights into faith & life can be-come richer and deeper.

You and a prayer guide will meet online, you will simply need any phone, computer or iPad. Ruth has sent out information or from the events page on the Christ the King website.

If you want to hear the music that Ruth and Kevin were unable to play last Sunday then open this YouTube link.

We should have more music this Sunday—possibly from members of our Worship Band.

A Sunday morning prayer

I find stillness in the storm, despite the struggles all around, A sabbath rest—take time to pause; in the stillness I come home.

In the quiet I come to you, I find strength to start anew, Breathing out and breathing in, in the quiet I come to you.

From Garth Hewitt Making holy dreams come true

Help in keeping going

Remember that we have a group of helpers who can run errands for others such as fetching prescriptions or shop-ping. Anyone can use our group, so just drop Lynn an email or call and she will find someone to help you.([email protected])

If you are able to be one of our helpers then please let Lynn know to add you to our list.

For other information on local neighbourhood support and help during the COVID-19 pandemic and ways that you can support your community see this link here.

MK Foodbank

For how to donate items to the MK Foodbank during the lock-down, see their website here. There are collection points at most supermarkets, and also at the Broughton Hotel.

Finance matters

One thing about moving services online is that we don’t have the income from the collection bags normally used for our Sunday services. Most of our costs remain the same

during lockdown (particularly paying our ministers) and as such we are running at a loss and are needing to eat into our reserves. So, if you normally give through envelopes scheme or cash into the collection bag, could you please contact our Treasurer, Ros Bateman, to arrange for your giving to be made another way. A monthly cheque or BACS would work under present circumstances. Ros’ email is: [email protected] Comedy Corner

Thank you so much Stephanie for sharing this with us. And there’s more where this came from!

Shack thoughts I recently watched the film The Shack again on Saturday night. Here’s what struck me:

We were created to be loved. God loves each and every one of us. There is evil in the world and God is always seeking to achieve good from a bad situa-tion. We only see things from a human viewpoint, not God’s greater plan. God does not punish, sin is its own punishment. Forgiveness is not letting someone off. There are always consequences. Forgiveness frees us up to know the truth. Jesus is the truth. Love only happens within a relationship and God wants to be in relationship with us. To do that, we have to get to know him. We can relate better to Jesus because he is human. God never leaves us. Through our anger and pain we may not feel God is there but he is always with us.

Trade in your old shoes to stamp out poverty!

Lockdown is getting us to do things in different ways. Charity shops are now closed but Chris-tians Against Poverty (CAP) have now teamed up with Thrift+ to help you donate good quality secondhand clothes to benefit the charity of your choice. You can also buy those vintage items online as well.

Just head to the Thrift+ website to see the range of clothes on offer and click the big orange donate button. You'll be asked to choose a charity to support (and we'd be delighted if you picked Christians Against Poverty, of course!).

Reflections for a Church in Lockdown

The Bishop of Oxford (and we are in the Oxford Diocese) has a podcast series on Reflections for a Church in Lockdown. To hear Bishop Steven's latest podcast, God is a righteous judge, go to his Podcast here
