CATEDRALThe fact that it holds the title of an apostolic church and was declared a place of cultural interest are a faithful reflection of its history and significance. Dedicated to Saint Mary, the cathedral has a wide variety of artistic currents that merge together, from the late Gothic era at its inception, and later moving to the Renaissance and Baroque, and finally to the Neo-classical style.

The imposing main facade has a stone Baroque altarpiece, which is a preface to the artistic wealth it holds inside. Visitors can fully enjoy each part of the Cathedral, especially the famous main altarpiece by Gaspar Becerra, which is a reference piece in the Spanish Renaissance. The choir was recently reopened with splendid renaissance chairs. It even has a nine-room museum, which is a vibrant space, dedicated to housing a vast quantity of pieces of great artistic and historical value.

Un fiel reflejo de su historia e importancia es su título de apostólica y su declaración como bien de interés cultural. Dedicada a Santa María, el templo catedralicio incorpora una gran variedad de corrientes artísticas que confluyen desde el gótico tardío de sus inicios, su posterior Renacimiento y Barroco, hasta su Neoclasicismo final.

Su imponente fachada principal con su retablo pétreo barroco ya nos adelanta la riqueza artística que esconde en su interior. El visitante podrá disfrutar al completo de cada una de las partes de la Catedral, destacando su famoso retablo Mayor de Gaspar Becerra, obra culmen del Renacimiento Español, la reciente reapertura del coro con su espléndida sillería renacentista e incluso cada una de las nueve salas de su museo, un espacio vivo dedicado a la custodia de una gran cantidad de piezas de gran valor histórico-artístico.
