NEW POLICIESFrom this point forward, the Broadstone Barracudas will have a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY on the following actions:

>Failure to sign in your swimmer online for a meet by the deadline. Deadlines are listed in the newsletter, on our website and via email. >Failure to check in your swimmer by the deadline the morning of the meet. Deadlines are listed in the newsletter and on our website.

Both of these will result in the swimmer being eligible to swim EXHIBITION ONLY at the meet. This means he/she will be placed in individual events ONLY IF there is an opening (no guarantees) and will not be able to score points. He/she will also not be eligible for RELAYS at that meet.

From this point forward, the Broadstone Barracudas will have a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY on the following actions:

>Missing a relay or leaving the swim meet early if the swimmer is in a free relay.>Failure to notify a coach of an emergency preventing you from attending the meet you signed up for or being a NO SHOW to a meet.

Both of these will result in the swimmer being INELIGIBLE FOR RELAYS at the next meet he/she attends.

In order to ensure your swimmer does not violate these policies:

✔Make sure your swimmer is signed in for meets you will attend by the deadline.

✔If your schedule changes and your swimmer can no longer attend the meet, you must remove your swimmer from the meet. If it’s before the sign-in deadline: log on to your account, click on “edit commitment” and change it from yes to no. If it’s after the deadline: send us an email (see below).

✔You must notify coaches of any change that affects your swimmer’s ability to participate. It is the swimmer’s/parent’s responsibility to keep informed of what meets they are signed up for and if they are in – or added to – a relay.

REQUESTS/NOTESAll requests/notes should be made in the notes box during online sign in (before the deadline). Sign in to your account, click on the meet name, click “attend/decline” or “edit commitment” and click on the swimmer’s name. Write the request in the notes box and save changes.

Examples of requests/notes: >Kate is leaving the meet at noon. >I’d like to swim the 50 free and 50 back. >I don’t want to swim fly.

CANCELLATIONS / EXCUSESIf you signed in your swimmer for a meet and then can’t make it to the meet, you must inform the coaches before the meet -- at the latest by 7 a.m. on the morning of the meet. Legitimate excuses are illness and emergencies. You can send an email to coach Brian ([email protected]), coach Amy ([email protected]) or [email protected].

SCRATCH SESSION AT MEETSIt is mandatory that parents (or swimmers) go to the check-in table during the half-hour check-in period and put a check mark ✔ next to the swimmer’s name. Once the check-in period closes, coaches conduct a scratch session. If there is no check mark next to a swimmer’s name, he/she will be scratched (removed) from all events. As stated above, if you do not check in on time, your swimmer will be eligible to swim exhibition ONLY IF there are openings in races (no guarantees).

SHOW UP FOR RELAYS!!As stated above, if a swimmer does not show up for a relay and does not notify coaches in advance, he/she will be ineligble for relays at the next meet he/she attends.

It is extremely important that coaches know if a swimmer cannot be in a relay. It is stressful for coaches to have to find alternates at the last minute at a meet. And when swimmers don’t show up for a relay, they let down their teammates who do show up.

✔ Swimmers and/or parents must tell a coach before or at the swim meet if they are missing a relay.

✔ Check out with a coach if you are leaving the meet early.

✔ There can be last-minute changes with relays, so check the final meet programs on the bulletin boards at the meet.
