THE GALA! CALLING ALL CONTINUO FAMILIES!

Your 2015 "Thankful for the Opportunities" Gala Co-Chairs are hard at work behind the scenes creating a

wonderful, entertaining evening celebrating CAF and raising funds to continue the important work of community

outreach, music education and a life-long love of the arts in our children and communities.

The event will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015. Thanks to Sue & Roger Taylor’s generous offer, our Gala

will again be at the beautiful Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield! In order for this event to be successful, we need

every family's participation. Last year’s Gala was the most successful to date; let's try to top it this year!

The Gala is an all-family & member event which we come together for each year….so here is your “GALA 101”:

1. We are looking to each member for donations to our SILENT and LIVE auction. Below you will find suggestions

for our SILENT auction, please feel free to be creative and use the suggestions just as a starting point; use

your imagination! Be sure to include a list of items, value and “donated by the _________ family” so we can

include this in the program:

Irish Basket: soda bread mix, whiskey, maybe a travel book related to Ireland (Any country, etc.)

Trader Joe's Basket: basket of various food items, usually totaling $150 or $200 (Any store/shop)

Cooking Basket: various cookbooks with a couple high end cooking items

Electronics: a shuffle with an iTunes card is always popular with the kids!

Vera Bradley or Longchamp Bag: could include a Starbucks card

Memberships: YMCA, Connection, Massage Envy etc. (check with these organizations, they usually have

a annual number of memberships set aside for donations to non-profit organizations)

Tickets: Shows, Games, Events: do you have season passes that include shows you can’t attend? Perfect!

Do you have a special skill to donate.......voice lessons, cooking, yoga instructors etc.

2. For the LIVE Auction items:

Generous families to donate an "experience" such as.......

A week at their summer/vacation home

A fun experience in NYC such as Broadway or the Met

Exclusive tickets to any sporting event, attraction

Sky’s the limit!!!

3. Once again, we are having a wine pull this year! In order for this exciting project to be successful we need a

selection of wine.

We ask every family to donate a bottle of wine of at least a $10 - 15 value.

Red or white, rose, whatever your preference

When you bring your bottle in, please have your name on the bag or post-it so we are able to mark you

off the list

4. Donations can come from a variety of sources - how your family participates is your choice!

Procured by making requests of local merchants that your family frequents (a donation letter for tax

purposes will be sent via email)

Simply donate items you purchase or already have

A cash donation for the auction is fine, too! We will do the shopping for you.

5. Items may be dropped off at rehearsals at Twin Maples. Or, please call and we will find a mutually agreeable

place and time if necessary. Either way is fine.

6. Referral lists! Attached to this week’s newsletter email will be a referral list. Please fill it out with names of your

friends, family, artistic patrons for us to invite. This was a GREAT hit last year and helped us introduce CAF to

many new people.

We will address the envelopes and bring to Twin Maples so you can write a note on them

Everyone: Please bring your referral sheets to Twin Maples this Tuesday…..October 20th

7. Finally, we will email you when your Gala invitation is ready to be picked up at Twin Maples. As you know,

every cent helps so let’s save some postage please! (All referral invitations will be mailed)

Please email your Gala co-chairs Jean Marie Apruzzese at [email protected] or Stephanie Herbert at

[email protected] if you have any questions or would like to donate!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF THE CONTINUO ARTS FOUNDATION!!

“Your truest friends are the ones who will stand by you in your darkest moments-because they're willing to brave the shadows with you-and in

your greatest moments-because they're not afraid to let you shine.”

Our very first Chanticleers Mini-treat took place on October 4th! The girls spent all day Sunday

singing, sharing, learning, laughing and eating!

Brava & Congratulations to Mrs. Blütner & all her girls!!
