www.flod.it / Alexandra Korey Talk given at "AperiTalk Turismo e nuove tecnologie (in inglese)" organized by Sharing Europe - Friday November 29 2013 - Florence This presentation posits that the cultural tourist is characterized by intelligence and independent travel planning, digital use, and a desire for quality experience (and, in terms of online, quality content). In my work as a project manager in the field of digital marketing for arts and culture, I have recently been involved in three examples of digital applied to cultural tourism. I briefly present these three projects: 1) musement.com, a museum ticket aggregator, saw the opportunity for a clean and easy to use sales platform in this field. My work with this website involves the blog, just launched, which will feature high quality content targetted to the typical cultural traveler. 2) Inferno Florence Guide smartphone app - a The Florentine Project that takes the bestselling Dan Brown book set in Florence as a opportunity to present correct and in depth information about each historical location mentioned in the book. 3) Uffizi art history guide - an ArtTrav project that applies a method typically used in university level art history instruction and puts it in a simple iphone app, which differs strongly from others on the market.
