It was the village which first attracted the owners to view the cottage but, once stepping over its threshold from its wide, but solid, wooden front door, they were captivated by its charm and immediate atmosphere of warmth and welcome. They moved to live here in 2001, and have considerably improved the cottage since then. Everything necessary, such as windows, doors and floors have been replaced with ‘like for like’, and the distinctive character of the cottage has been enhanced during this time. Its beams and timbers are of elm and quite unique in their pale colour. Now such a comfortable and relaxing home and one which the owners enjoy sharing special times with friends and family.

The cottage has a neat ‘Italianate’ courtyard garden. Being walled, it is extremely private and utterly charming with its colourful plantings in pots, together with clematis covering its walls. Sitting out here for relaxed dining is, indeed, a pleasure.

Part of the cottage is on three floors and its uppermost floor is utterly charming. A beautiful room which has proved to be very flexible as an extra bedroom, a studio, or a useful space for home working.

The sitting room features a beautiful inglenook fireplace and, of course, exquisite beams and open timbers. It is such a special room to enjoy whatever the season, but more particularly on cold winter days, tucked up in front of a roaring fire enjoying a good book.

Justifiably, the owners feel very proud in restoring the cottage and giving it back its special character. They will be sad to say goodbye but have just happy memories of their special time here.
