Introduction This document is intended to assist new EFILive customers with the basic operations and steps necessary to work with the 2010-2015 6.7L Cummins supported vehicles. For customers already familiar with existing vehicle support most of the document contents will be familiar to you already. This document is supplementary to the Cummins 2006-2009 Quick Start Guide. Where a process remains identical for both platforms, users will need to refer to Cummins 2006-2009 Quick Start Guide. For more in-depth detail on the operation and capability of the EFILive product please refer to the additional documentation included in the software installation.

Additional Support Resources If after reviewing this guide further assistance is required please contact the EFILive Authorised Reseller from whom you purchased your product. They are your first point of contact for EFILive support related inquiries. If your question is in relation to the actual tuning of your vehicle (i.e. how to gain performance, economy etc.) then please ask these questions on the EFILive Forum (http://forum.efilive.com/). EFILive does not provide support or assistance for the actual tuning of any supported vehicles.

Software Version Overview EFILive presently has two major software versions (V7 and V8) that service different parts of the tuning and scanning process. The V8 software is undergoing significant development and will eventually supersede V7 entirely for FlashScan V2 customers. For the moment, however, both versions are required. The following is a brief view of the activities that are performed with the different software versions:

Software Version Purpose

V8 Flashes the Dodge Cummins CMD and CME controllers. Maintaining the bootblock and firmware versions on the

EFILive FlashScan V2 and AutoCal devices.

V7 Modifications to the ECM calibration are made using the V7 Tune Tool application. The modified calibration is then flashed into the ECM (again using V8).

Logging of real-time data from the vehicle is done using the V7 Scan Tool application.

Software Requirements Support for the CMD and CME controllers is a free software update to all EFILive customers To access these enhancements customers must be running the following (or higher) software versions:

1. EFILive V8.2.2.268 or later 2. FlashScan V2 / AutoCal Firmware - V2.07.75 3. EFILive V7.5.7.274 or later

The latest software versions are available for download from the EFILive website.

Licensing Requirements FlashScan V2 licensing requirements MUST be met in order to flash a tune into a controller. The Dodge Cummins Tuning Option must be enabled, and a VIN license for the target hardware device (FlashScan or AutoCal) must be available.

Tuning Options can be managed by opening the EFILive V8 Scan and Tune software with your device connected and selecting [F7: Licenses] -> [F2: Hardware].

VIN licenses can be managed by opening the EFILive V8 Scan and Tune software with your device connected and selecting [F7: Licenses] -> [F3: VIN’s].

AutoCal end users DO NOT have access to create, edit or modify tunes. AutoCal end users MUST contact the Tuner who’s FlashScan V2 their AutoCal is licensed to.

Tune File Sizes The tune file sizes for the CMD and CME controllers are significantly larger than existing controllers.

CMD tune files are approximately 2.5MB each. CME tune files are approximately 3.5MB each.

CM2200A & CM2350B ECM Overview Due to the CM2200A and CM2350B ECM's restrictive architecture, Cummins 2010-2015 support does not adhere to the typical "EFILive process" for tuning supported vehicles. EFILive generally requires customers to first read and save their ECM's tune, then edit the calibrations before finally flashing the modified tune back into the vehicle. However it is not possible to read these ECM’s via the OBD-II Port, (the ECM can only be read by opening the ECM and soldering to the CPU debug port using expensive 3rd party tools). Customers will need to obtain a suitable base file for editing and flashing purposes, a selection of EFILive compatible base stock files are readily available on the internet or custom files may be purchased through organizations that have the necessary hardware and software to create personalized base files. There are two ECM types; EFILive refers to these as CMD and CME. CMD is used in 2010-2012 model year vehicles, and CME commenced with the 2013 model year. Because you cannot read the existing tune in the ECM it is important you select the correct base tune to suit your vehicle.

RSA Digital Signature In early 2009 Cummins ECM's were manufactured with higher levels of security consisting of an RSA Digital Signature on the calibrations. All vehicles with a 2010 or later model year contain ECM’s that have been updated with this additional security and all service replacement ECM's are manufactured this way. The RSA Digital Signature does not prevent the flashing of stock tunes, it ONLY prevents the flashing of modified tunes, so to flash a modified tune, the Digital Signature must first be switched off. EFILive has developed a method to turn off the OBD-II Digital Signature validation for 2010-2012 CM2200A ECM’s that MUST be implemented to allow modified tunes to be programmed in to late model 6.7L ECM's. Please refer to the Cummins BootRSA Patch User Guide. The 2013+ CM2350B ECM Digital Signature cannot be bypassed by OBD-II flashing, and requires secondary processes and equipment to remove the Digital Signature. The easiest method to remove the Digital Signature so you can flash modified tunes is to install a BullyDog GT tuner with a 2013+ unlock cable. This equipment connects to the OEM 3 Plug Connector under the hood of the vehicle.

Finding the Correct Base File The following instructions will determine the base tune file that should be used for each vehicle. EFILive does not provide stock tunes or modified tunes. There are a variety of stock tunes available on the internet, or custom stock tunes can be purchased through organizations that have the necessary hardware and software to create personalized base files.

Determine Current Calibration There are 3 methods to find the calibration details of the tune presently in the ECM. Customers can choose which method best suits their needs.

1. V8 Scan and Tune With FlashScan V2 or AutoCal connected to your vehicle and your PC, open EFILive V8 Scan and Tune and select [F4: OBD] -> [F2: Controller]. Use the Auto Detect button, or select the ECM type by right clicking on the ‘Right-click to select engine-controller‘ box. Once the correct ECM is selected, click the 'Get Info’ button to populate controller data.

2. FlashScan V2 and AutoCal Display FlashScan V2

With FlashScan V2 connected to your vehicle, select [F1: Scan Tool] -> [F1: Select PIDs] and select controller you wish to display. Return to the main menu and select [F3: Diagnostics] -> [F1: Display Info] -> [F1: Display VIN/Info] The following data will be displayed:

If the [Select PIDs] option is not selected first, the following will be displayed:

AutoCal

For AutoCal, the user must boot into the advanced menu (i.e. hold down [Next] button while powering up), then select [Scan Tool] -> [Select PIDs] and select the controller you wish to display. Users can navigate to a range of options using the [Next] button. The following options are available:

"Scan Tool"->"Display VIN" "Scan Tool"->"Display OS" "Scan Tool"->"Display SN" "Scan Tool"->"Display Cal ID"

Where the display information exceeds 8 characters, a ">" character is displayed at the end of the data prompting the user to press [Next] to scroll the data horizontally. The "<" character indicates that the user can press the [Prev] key to scroll the data back again.

If the [Select PIDs] option is not selected first, the following will be displayed: -------- VIN 3D7KS26> -------- SN: Sel PIDs -------- OS: Sel PIDs -------- Cal: Sel PIDs --------

3. Record All Diagnostics FlashScan V2 and AutoCal have the ability to create a text file that can be viewed using Windows notepad.

FlashScan V2 With FlashScan V2 connected to your vehicle, select [F1: Scan Tool] -> [F1: Select PIDs] and select controller you wish to display. Return to the main menu, then select [F3: Diagnostics] -> [F4: Record All Diags]. FlashScan will display the file name that is saved onto the device. If a controller is not selected in the Select PID's menu, users will be presented with the message: "Freeze frame data will not be recorded until a PID selection is made." Select OK for FlashScan to create the file without any freeze frame data.

AutoCal For AutoCal, the user must boot into the advanced menu (i.e. hold down [Next] button while powering up), then navigate to [Trouble Codes] -> [Record Diags]. AutoCal will display the file name that is saved to the device. If a controller is not selected in the Select PID's menu, users will be presented with the message: "FF Data not rec." Select OK for AutoCal to create the file without any freeze frame data.

Once the file is saved, users should connect their FlashScan or AutoCal device to their PC, Open EFILive Explorer and navigate to the scan directory. The relevant file can then be transferred to PC and then opened or emailed to their tuner.

Match Calibration Requirements Search the Cummins Flash Availability Document for the matching Calibration ID. Copy the Calibration ID from the New Part Number(s) column.

NOTE: The two letter suffix in the Calibration ID indicates the tune revision identifier, not a variation in Operating system. To find a matching tune file, load the chosen CMD.ctz or CME.ctz file in to EFILive V8 (must have V8.2.2.268 or later installed), and match the Calibration ID displayed under the [F3: Calibration] tab against the Calibration ID chosen from the Cummins Flash Availability document. NOTE: Some Calibrations may be listed in the Cummins Flash Availability document multiple times. If you cannot find a matching base file, check the document for additional records of your Calibration ID.

Once you find a matching tune this can now become your base file should you ever need to revert back to a stock tune. You cannot save the tune already installed in the ECM, once you flash over it, it is gone forever, so choose your base tune wisely.

Modifying a Tune File Follow the steps below to modify your Dodge Cummins ECM calibration.

1. Open the EFILive V7.5 Tune Tool application. 2. Click the File Open button, and navigate to the location on your computer where

the saved file you wish to open is located, and open the file 3. Edit the table(s) you wish to modify by using the Windows Explorer style

navigation window. 4. Save the tune file as a .ctz using the Save as option.

Flashing a Tune File Tune files can be flashed into the target controller using EFILive V8 Scan and Tune Software in pass-through mode, or by moving the tune files onto either FlashScan V2 or AutoCal and utilizing Black Box Flashing capabilities. Refer to the EFILive V8 Reference document for further instructions. NOTE: The Tune file sizes will restrict the number of tunes that can be stored on FlashScan V2/AutoCal internal memory for black box flashing.

Failed Flash Recovery Methods In the event that an ECM fails during the flashing process, recovery methods exist to restore the ECM. In most instances, simply retrying the flash process will return the ECM to working order. In the instance where tuners apply security restrictions to a tune file, including locking to the controller serial number, and the flash fails, you must try to recover the ECM with a file that has no security restrictions in place (e.g. stock tune) before attempting to reflash a file with security restrictions.

Tune File Security Security restrictions can be implemented to control how your calibration file(s) can be used by others. You can enable or disable a host of restrictions to suit most requirements. Refer to the EFILive V8 Reference document for further detail.

Supporting Remote Customers Due to the size of tune files, moving tunes on/off an AutoCal device will be prevalent. EFILive recommends to those tuners using AutoCal for their end users, that tune files are managed via the Quick Setup in order to manage device configurations and minimize support issues.

Logging Data Scanning (data logging) of the Dodge Cummins ECM controllers is supported only in the EFILive V7 software. Support for Black Box Logging (BBL) in FlashScan V2 and AutoCal will be provided in a future firmware update. Useful factory scantool data for both the CMD and CME controllers are very limited. EFILive is reporting available scantool data. Future development includes providing useful scantool data via EFILive’s custom CSP5/EDA operating systems in 2015.

Scheduled Development The EFILive software is constantly evolving. The following enhancements are scheduled for development on the CMD and CME during 2015:

CSP5 - Cummins Switchable Tuning on the fly. EDA – Enhanced Data Acquisition. Only available for those customers running

CSP5 operating systems, EDA will create a single group of approx 45 parameters hand selected by tuners as essential tuning feedback items. For existing Cummins platforms, this feature delivers 3 times as many parameters, and is five times faster than existing logging. For CMD and CME customers, these enhancements will be greater given the lack of scanning detail from the factory.

Data logging via FlashScan V2 and AutoCal. Transmission tuning parameters for 68RFE equipped vehicles. Emissions removal parameters will be developed for non USA based customers.
