CURIOSITY CONVENTION FEEDBACK
Following prize giving at the end of the day, both Students and Teachers were asked to fill out a very simple feedback form. There were 57 Students and 12 Teachers at the event and a total of 51 forms Student forms and 10 Teacher forms were returned with apologies from one school as the were leaving in a hurry. The two early departing teachers gave assurance that the day had been excellent.
TEACHER FEEDBACK:
100% thought that the Convention developed and enhanced Student skills and independence 100% thought that the students were engaged in the challenge throughout the day 100% thought that the collaborative work with different schools was the best part of the day “Witnessing genuine passion for learning among children learning together” “Seeing the children work so well with others” “Seeing the children work so well together with others – great engagement and commitment from all” Several teachers also commented specifically about the Challenges: Q: What was the best part of the day for you? A: Seeing the challenges prepared by other schools A: The children presenting the work they had prepared before the Convention A: Students really enjoyed the presentations
“It was an astonishing day, the children had an absolutely superb time and have benefitted so much from this opportunity. Curiosity Club has broadened their horizons and shown them the importance of transferable skills”
STUDENT FEEDBACK There was an extremely high level of enjoyment recorded by the Students 98% (all except one) particularly enjoyed “Working with other students that use Curiosity” “Because it makes you have an inspirational life” “Because we knew what we had to do” “We made new friends” The key figures are:
• 34 / 51 students would not change anything
• 14 / 51 students would like the day to be longer or have more students involved
• 3 / 51 students wanted more choice within the Convention Challenge Furthermore; 2 / 51 stated they wanted to be more confident to be able to be more involved 2 / 51 wanted to work more with their friends 3 / 51 had specific suggestions of which 2 were requesting more preparation work pre-‐event. 1 / 51 thought that John Gordon-‐Reid should get a prize! The day was split into 4 parts and the students were asked to decide which they enjoyed most:
• 22 chose the ‘Perfect Performance’ challenge and presentation
• 12 chose the ‘School Submission’ static display challenge
• 11 chose the Convention challenge – ‘Make It and Fake It; the story of palm oil”
• 6 chose ‘Bring Your Own’ – an opportunity to display their favourite piece of work From the Curiosity perspective; next time….
