Assessment Requirements

All students are required to take and pass the Georgia High School Writing Test in order to receive a diploma in Georgia. Juniors will take this test for the first time in September, 2014. Students will have five opportunities to pass this test before their graduation date.

New HOPE Rigor Requirements• For the Class of 2016, students must meet

additional requirements to be eligible to receive the HOPE Scholarship.

• Students not only must have a 3.0 GPA in core courses (including foreign language courses), they must also complete the new rigor requirement. The requirement is that students must take and pass three rigor courses.

• Rigor courses offered at SEHS are marked by an asterisk on the registration form, and they are also included on the back of the handout.

Work-Based Learning• This program is for students 16 years or older. • This program allows students to receive high

school credit while developing skills in the workplace.

• Students do not have to have employment prior to entering this program; however, the student should have a job in his/her program concentration area to participate.

• Students in this program must have a driver’s license, student parking permit, and have personal transportation to participate in this program.

• Students interested in work-based learning should see Mrs. Truluck (Room # 302) for an application, additional information, and regulations.

• This program allows students 16 years and older to take courses for high school and college credit.

• There are three pathways that start during a student’s junior year. These pathways are dual enrollment with Savannah Technical College:– Welding Pathway (will need to take Industry Fundamental and

Occupational Safety during 9th or 10th grade year as a pre-requisite)
