DRDO develops ‘Ultra Swachh’ for disinfection of PPEs, electronic items, fabrics

●  Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has developed a disinfection unit named Ultra Swachh to disinfect a wide range of materials, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), electronics items, fabrics and others.

●  Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences, the Delhi-based laboratory of DRDO has developed this product with industry partner Gel Craft Health care Private Ltd.

●  The system uses an advanced oxidative process consisting of multiple barrier disruption approaches using Ozonated Space Technology for disinfection.

●  Ultra Swachh is double-layered, with specialized Ozone sealant technology ensuring trapping of Ozone for the necessary disinfection cycle.

●  It also has a catalytic converter to ensure environment friendly exhaust.

●  Ultra Swachh comes in two variants namely Ozonated Space and Trinetra Technology.

●  Trinetra technology is the combination of Ozonated space and radical dispenser.

Govt unveils PM SVANIDHI scheme to provide affordable loans to street vendors

सरकार न ेस्ट्रीट वेंडर्स को सस्ते कर्ज देन ेक ेलिए PM SVANIDHI योजना का खुलासा किया -  AIR

●  Union Government launched PM SVANIDHI - Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi - a special micro-credit facility scheme for providing affordable loans to street vendors.

●  The scheme is aimed at enabling the street vendors to resume their livelihoods that have been adversely affected due to COVID-19 lockdown.

●  Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry launched the scheme in pursuance of the announcement made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman last month.

●  The street vendors belonging to the surrounding peri-urban or rural areas are being included as beneficiaries under the urban livelihoods programme for the first time.

●  Under the scheme, each of these streets vendors will be given a credit loan of Rs 10,000, which they can return as monthly installments within a year.

●  Those who repay their loans on time will get 7 percent annual interest as subsidy which will be transferred in their bank accounts.

•  केंद्र सरकार ने पीएम SVANIDHI- प्रधान मंत्री स्ट्रीट वेंडर आत्मनिर्भर निधि की शुरुआत की - जो स्ट्रीट वेंडर्स को किफायती ऋण प्रदान करने के लिए एक विशेष माइक्रो-क्रेडिट सुविधा योजना है।

Moody’s downgrades India’s rating, maintains negative outlook मूडीज ने भारत की रेटिंग घटा दी है, नकारात्मक आउटलुक बनाए रखा

●  Moody's Investors Service downgraded the Government of India's foreign-currency and local-currency long-term issuer ratings to Baa3 from Baa2 and also downgraded India's local-currency senior unsecured rating to Baa3 from Baa2.

●  The negative outlook reflects dominant, mutually-reinforcing, downside risks from deeper stresses in the economy and financial system that could lead to a more severe and prolonged erosion in fiscal strength than Moody’s current projects.

●  'Baa3' rating is the lowest investment grade -- just a notch above 'junk' status.

●  Moody's had last downgraded India's rating in 1998.

•  मूडीज इन्वेस्टर्स सर्विस ने भारत सरकार की विदेशी मुद्रा और स्थानीय मुद्रा लंबी अवधि की जारीकर्ता रेटिंग को Baa2 से Baa3 डाउनग्रेड कर दिया और भारत की स्थानीय-मुद्रा वरिष्ठ असुरक्षित रेटिंग को भी डाउनग्रेड कर Baa2 से Baa3 कर दिया है।

MSME definition widened further to include firms with up to Rs 250 cr turnover

MSME की परिभाषा 250 करोड़ रुपय ेतक के टर्नओवर वाली कंपनियो ंको शामिल करन ेके लिए और बढाई गई -  Economictimes

●  The Union cabinet has approved further changes to the definition of micro, small and medium enterprises, a Rs 20,000-crore fund to provide equity support to stressed entities in the sector, and equity infusion of Rs 50,000 crore into MSMEs through a fund of funds.

●  As per the new definition, a company with up to Rs 50 crore investments and up to Rs 250 crore turnover is classified as a medium enterprise.

●  This is higher than the definition announced by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman as part of the Rs 20 lakh-crore Atma Nirbhar Bharat package.

●  Previously, the investment limit for medium companies at Rs 20 crore and turnover at Rs 100 crore.

●  As per the new definition, micro units can have up to Rs 1 crore investments and turnover of up to Rs 5 crore while businesses with an investment of up to Rs 10 crore and turnover of up to Rs 50 crore will be classified as small.

•  केंद्रीय कैबिनेट ने सूक्ष्म, लघु और मध्यम उद्यमों की परिभाषा में और बदलाव किए हैं, जिससे इस क्षेत्र में तनावग्रस्त संस्थाओं को इक्विटी समर्थन प्रदान करने क ेलिए 20,000 करोड़ रुपय ेका फंड और फंड फंड के माध्यम से MSMEs में 50,000 करोड़ रुपये का इक्विटी प्रदान की जा सके।

•  यह वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण द्वारा घोषित 20 लाख करोड़ रुपये के भारत निर्मल भारत पैकेज के हिस्से की तुलना मे ंअधिक है।

•  पहले, मध्यम कंपनियो ंके लिए निवेश की सीमा 20 करोड ़रुपये और टर्नओवर 100 करोड़ रुपये थी।

•  नई परिभाषा के अनुसार, सूक्ष्म इकाइयों में 1 करोड़ रुपये तक का निवेश और 5 करोड़ रुपये तक का कारोबार हो सकता है, जबकि 10 करोड ़रुपये तक के निवेश और 50 करोड़ रुपये तक के कारोबार को लघ ुक ेरूप में वर्गीकृत किया जाएगा।

●  Contribution of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Indian economy is as follows;

●  1. At present, approximately 36.1 million units of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises are engaged in production in India.

MSMEs provide employment to around 120 million people in India. ●  3. MSMEs are responsible for a 45% share of India's total export. ●  4. MSMEs contribute around 6.11% of the manufacturing GDP and 24.63% of

the GDP from service activities. ●  5. The MSME sector has consistently grown at an average rate of 10%

annually. ●  6. The contribution of this sector to the country's Gross Domestic Product is

about 8%.

●  7. A study done by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) on the Indian MSMEs reveals that the MSME's contribution will be around 50% in the India's GDP by 2024.

●  8. Many units of MSMEs are located in rural areas, which are checking the migration from rural areas to urban areas.

New Ebola outbreak detected in northwest Democratic Republic of the Congo

●  Democratic Republic of Congo has declared a new Ebola epidemic in the western city of Mbandaka.

●  The announcement comes as a long, difficult and complex Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo is in its final phase, while the country also battles COVID-19 and the world’s largest measles outbreak.

●  This is the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s 11th outbreak of Ebola since the virus was first discovered in the country in 1976.

●  The city of Mbandaka and its surrounding area were the site of Democratic Republic of the Congo’s 9th Ebola outbreak, which took place from May to July 2018.

•  डेमोक्रेटिक रिपब्लिक ऑफ कांगो ने पश्चिमी शहर मिंडकाका में एक नया इबोला आउटब्रेक घोषित किया है।

human transmission. ●  The average EVD case fatality rate is around 50%. Case fatality rates have varied from 25% to 90% in past

outbreaks. ●  Community engagement is key to successfully controlling outbreaks. ●  Early supportive care with rehydration, symptomatic treatment improves survival. ●  There is yet no licensed treatment proven to neutralise the virus but a range of blood, immunological and drug

therapies are under development. ●  An experimental Ebola vaccine, called rVSV-ZEBOV proved highly protective against EVD in a major trial in

Guinea in 2015. ●  The rVSV-ZEBOV vaccine is being used in the ongoing 2018-2019 Ebola outbreak in DRC. Pregnant and

breastfeeding women should have access to the vaccine under the same conditions as for the general population.

●  The announcement, made by Trump on Twitter, comes amid violent nationwide protests about police brutality following the death of 'George Floyd' seen on video gasping for breath as a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck.

●  The USA President has blamed an organisation namely, Antifa for the violent protest that erupted in the country.

●  It has been also argued that the USA will be designating Antifa as a terrorist organization in the future.

●  Although, the USA has no statute that permits designating violent domestic groups terrorists, as it has for international groups like Islamic State or Al-Qaeda.
