The University of Michigan—Flint Notes: Starting in September 2016, all GEO and RPL courses that I teach have a new prefix of URP per the Geography, Planning, and Environment department’s redesign. Development and Revision of Programs Spearheaded Significant Revisions to the Department’s Curriculum, 2015-2016

Reorganized and rebranded our programs into an Urban and Regional Planning (URP) major and an Environmental Science and Sustainability (ESS) major.

Created 4-year plans for students.

Developed a regular rotation of course offerings and faculty teaching loads.

Rewrote course descriptions.

Aligned the URP program with the American Planning Association’s accreditation standards.

Revised the department’s honor’s program. Designed (with input from social studies teaching certification program faculty) the social studies capstone course SST301, 2012-2013.

Assisted Metro Community Development with the federally funded BNCP program in wards 1 and 3 on the north side of the City of Flint. The BNCP program is focused on empowering local communities to develop and obtain the tools and resources necessary to transform neighborhoods of concentrated poverty into neighborhoods of opportunity. My tasks included attending and participating in neighborhood planning meetings, creating a neighborhood survey, and conducting pro-bono data analysis. I also supervised student research assistants and interns who completed work for Metro.
