ACT BUSINESS DELEGATION TO JAPAN . :
. . The Chief Minister led a Business Delegation to Japan from ·23 October to 5 November 1993. ·_ The Delegation visited the cities of Nara, Kyoto, O.saka, ·ttamamatsu ·and Tok)1o with the ·following aims:
. . to rais~ the awareness of Canberra as ~ustr~lia's natio~al capital;
to market Canberra as an attractive· business destinati~ri; and
· _to promote Canberra as an attractive. place to v'isit.
The Delegati_on ·(ocusse4. on marketing .three of the ACT's · particular . business strengths. of tourism, advanced technology .and education.
The Delegation. was. timed to coincide with. the launch · of 'Celebrate Australia', a major Australian pro.motion held iri Japan during November, and coordinate·d by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. . .
· ISSUES:
Following the ACT Business Delegation an analysis of follow-up actions has been undertaken . and a list compiled which ~llocates a.ctions to relevant government agencies.
Actions which remain the responsibility of the Chief Minister's Department are listed at Attachment A. ·
