On November 1, Tri-County EMC, in

partnership with the Eaton-ton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce, hosted an Elec-tric Vehicle Demonstration Day at the Plaza in Eatonton.

Approximately 150 attendees heard from nationally-known speakers about the growing electric vehicle industry. With topics includ-ing charging, range, investment and lifestyle, attendees got a glimpse of what it would be like to own and drive an electric vehicle in daily life.

Students in grades Kindergarten through 5th living in the Tri-County EMC service area were invited to participate in the Tri-County EMC Christmas Card Art Contest. A total of 184 entries was submitted. The top three submissions are shown below. The first place artwork

will be featured on the Tri-County EMC Christmas Card.

Winners were also chosen for each grade level. All winning artwork can be seen on our website at www.tri-countyemc.com/christmascardartcontest.cms. Winning artists will be awarded in their classrooms. All artwork submitted will be donated to local nursing homes during the Christmas season.

LIHEAP: Georgia’s Heating Assistance ProgramThe Georgia Department of Human Services provides assistance on heating bills through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to low-income families, the elderly and other applicants who qualify. When applying for assistance, be sure to have your proof of income from the last 30 days available, as well as proof of Social Security numbers for each household member, your last month’s heating

bill and proof of citizenship or legal immigration status.

For local heating assistance, contact the community action agency that coincides with the county in which you reside listed to the right. Tri-County EMC recently surprised 25 teachers in Baldwin, Jasper, Jones and Putnam Counties

with educational grants totaling $30,000. Since 2008, Tri-County Electric Membership Cooperative has provided more $240,000 in grants to local schools. Funded by unclaimed capital credits, the grants help teachers improve education in their classrooms through innovative projects that would otherwise not be funded. Georgia certified public or private school teachers in grades Pre-K through 12 in Bald-win, Jones, Putnam, Twiggs and Wilkinson counties qualify to apply.

• 1 tbsp. cooking oil• 1 small onion• 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce• 1 can tomatoes• 1 tsp. ketchup

Recipe Box

Spanish Pork Chops

Directions: Rub chops with a mixture of flour, salt, paprika, dry mustard.Fry in hot oil until brown. Slice onion over chops. Add remainingingredients. Cover and cook slowly or bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.
