2017 Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Fulbright Scholar Combined Research Lecturing Award (7164). Fall 2017 & June 2018. Identifying factors supporting strong self-advocacy among users of mental health services in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the benefits of community participation. This project is housed and conducted through the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Tuzla. The research component of this project is focused on identifying factors supporting highly functional users’ associations (korisničkih udruženja) of people with mental disorders in the BiH community mental health system and the supports needed from service providers. ation and conversely the functional health challenges related to inactivity and social isolation. The lecturing component of this project will provide lectures on the research evidence supporting the health and functional benefits of social and community participation.

2010 Kragujevac Serbia. Fulbright Scholar Combined Research/Lecturing Award Fall

2010 assigned to the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kragujevac, Kragujevac Serbia. Research project title: “Social context and schizophrenia in a changing system of services: The role of urbanization in the functioning of Serbians with schizophrenia.” The research component of this project entailed the collection of data to examine social integration and psychosocial functioning among people with schizophrenia in three different levels of urbanized settings in Serbia. The lecturing component involves the delivery of lectures to medical and nursing students related to obesity, health and psychosocial functioning of people with severe mental illness.

2007 Hameenlina Finland. Instructor, International Summer School, Centre for

Education and Research on Well-Being, HAMK University of Applied Sciences. Taught week-long block course on the use of social psychological theory as a foundation for social service practice.

2003 Pristina Kosovo. Training Consultant for Doctors of the World (DOW). Provided

training and information to personnel working in DOW’s deinstitutionalization project.

2002 Pristina Kosovo. Internship with International Organization for Migration (IOM),

Psychosocial Trauma Response Programme. Developed and implemented training program in therapeutic use of activities at the Sthime Special Institution in Shtime, Kosovo.
