Cold Weather Water Tips—February tends to be one of the

coldest months of the year in Fairplay. Our Water Department

would like to offer a few tips to insure your winter is hassle-

free. If you have questions please contact Public Works at 719-

836-2622, ext. 105.

If you have heat tape on your home to prevent frozen wa-

ter pipes, make sure it is plugged in!

Use preventative measures to stop frozen pipes such as

leaving a cabinet under a sink open on frigid nights.

If you are leaving your home for an extended amount of

time and feel you need to turn your water off, please con-

tact our Public Works department so we can turn off the

curb stop water valve at the street. This will prevent flood-

ing in the event a pipe freezes and bursts.

If you hear water running anywhere around your home or

a neighbor’s home and it’s not obvious where it’s coming

from, please contact Public Works.

EVENT UPDATE

Thanks to all of the community that came out to enjoy the Real Colorado Christmas celebration, Holiday Victorian Tea and the Victorian and

Cowboy Ball this year. We had great attendance and appreciate your support in helping us to end 2016 on a high note!

Your first look at the 2017 event schedule is located on the back page of this newsletter with some great events coming up very soon! We are

excited to announce that there will be a Mother’s Day Tea on Sunday, May 7th from 2pm—4pm. The Town and the Friends of the Fairplay

Community will be combining their efforts to make this event happen. More information will be published in your monthly water/sewer bills.

Another exciting announcement is that we are adding a “Vintage Market” to Burro Days this year along with all the great vendors we usually

have. The “Vintage Market” vendors will be located in one specific area on the lawn at the Old Courthouse. Be on the lookout for more infor-

mation on this great addition to Burro Days and if you are or know of a “Vintage Market” vendor please have them contact

[email protected].

In August, we are giving the Fairplay Bead and Fiber Show a fresh look by inviting more artists with handmade wearable art. We would love

for you to experience this fresh new event by enjoying the shopping experience and taking advantage of the demos and classes that will be

offered. You can learn how to make your own “wearable art!” In fact, we have even given the event a new name, Fairplay’s Wearable Art

Fest! Mark August 12-13 on your calendar so you don’t miss a thing. Be on the look out for more information at our website

fairplaywearableartfest.com.

Our favorite bands will be returning for the TGIFairplay free concert series: June—Split Window, July—Ronnie Raygun and the Big Eighties

Band, July 4th—Richie Law & the Southern Routes Band and of course in August—The Hazel Miller Band! We are gonna rock the summer!

GET TO KNOW……...

REBECCA BRAMLETT

Police Officer, Fairplay Police Department

Becky grew up in Golden, Colorado where her family has been for five generations. She

grew up riding horses in a pasture where Colorado Mills Mall currently sits. She has

worked for the Town for over a year and a half and previously worked as an Animal

Control Officer for the Park County Sheriff’s Office.

What do you enjoy most about your position? I really enjoy working in this com-

munity. I have lived here for nine years and I love the people here. In my job I get to

interact with the whole Town and I enjoy getting to know our residents.

What project or undertaking are you most proud of and why? The project(s) that I

am most proud of would be the grant programs I have worked on for the Police Department. I work on the annual Peace Officer Standards

and Training (Post) Grant. This grant funds a lot of the training and equipment used to keep our officers fully trained. I have also worked to

get grant money to put our officers on the streets patrolling for DUI’s. It is a passion of mine to keep drunk drivers off of our streets.

What book are you currently reading? Are you enjoying it and why? I LOVE to read. I am cur rently reading, “The Woman Lit By

Fireflies,” which is a book of short stories by Jim Harrison. I am enjoying this book because the first story takes place in the Upper Peninsula

of Michigan where I like to spend my vacation time.

What is the strangest or funniest request you have ever received while working for the Town? Being a small town, I get a lot of re-

quests for pictures with people. This happens frequently during Town events and parades, but also when I do business checks in bars and

restaurants.

We thank you for your service to our Town and our Community Becky!

TEAM UP WITH THE TOWN!

15th. Please call 719-836-2622 with questions.

Bench Program—In response to our merchants requests for

additional seating to accommodate visitors on Front and

Main Streets, we are researching the possibility of a Bench

Program. We are hoping to team up with local merchants,

organizations and residents that would like to help make this

program a success for Fairplay. More information will be

released in your monthly water/sewer bills when finalized.

Call for Volunteers—As we near event season we are look-

ing for volunteers that can help with events and work at our

Visitor Center at Town Hall this summer. This is a great

opportunity to learn more about our area and to share infor-

mation with visitors. A volunteer application can be found

on our website, fairplayco.us, under documents and forms or

stop by Town Hall, 901 Main Street. Feel free to contact us

with any questions at 719-836-2622, ext. 109 or email Julie

Please contact the Fairplay Police Department for all law enforcement concerns within Town limits, 719-836-2840. Issues that the Police Department

will handle include: criminal complaints, traffic complaints, animal control,
