Brief history

• Nuclear Reaction Data Centre in Hokkaido University has been launched in May 2011.

• The centre is the successor of Japan Charged-Particle Reaction Data Group (JCPRG), which was founded in 1974.

Main tasks since 1974

• Compilation of nuclear reaction data, except neutron-induced reactions, in Japan

• Management of the original database, Nuclear Reaction Data File (NRDF)

• Conversion of the compiled data into the EXFOR format and distribution through the international network

Nuclear Reaction Data File (NRDF)

• NRDF is the database of the original format in JCPRG.

• It includes data of about 2,000 articles. • Some data can not be converted into EXFOR.

Procedure – Input data

• One compiler and one checker are allocated for one paper.

• The compiler inputs data into our web-based editor “HENDEL”.

• The checker confirms the correctness and completeness of the data on the website.

• Any information about compilation is shared in mailing lists.

Page 11: Current Status and Future Plans of Nulcear Reaction Data ...Dec. 13, 2011 Contents • Introduction • Compilation • Research/Collaboration • Summary • Future Plans Introduction

Procedure – Numerical data

• The compiler asks authors for numerical data. • Or our staff digitizes numerical values from images

of figures in the paper using our original software “GSYS”.

Page 12: Current Status and Future Plans of Nulcear Reaction Data ...Dec. 13, 2011 Contents • Introduction • Compilation • Research/Collaboration • Summary • Future Plans Introduction

Procedure – Transmission

• The person in charge gathers EXFOR entries. • The entries are transmitted to IAEA and NRDC. • All entries are accessible on the website.

Original Software for compilation

• Web-based Editor for Nuclear Data (HENDEL) • Digitizing Software (GSYS) • Search and Plot System

Web-based Editor for Nuclear Data (HENDEL)

• HENDEL: • is available on many browsers. • is available without knowledge of database formats. • provides selective items to reduce illegal codes. • creates the two formats, EXFOR and NRDF,

simultaneously.

Page 15: Current Status and Future Plans of Nulcear Reaction Data ...Dec. 13, 2011 Contents • Introduction • Compilation • Research/Collaboration • Summary • Future Plans Introduction

Digitizing Software (GSYS)

• GSYS is a software to digitize points in a figure image into numerical data.

Page 16: Current Status and Future Plans of Nulcear Reaction Data ...Dec. 13, 2011 Contents • Introduction • Compilation • Research/Collaboration • Summary • Future Plans Introduction

Search and Plot System

• Our original search and plot systems for EXFOR and NRDF are available on the website.

Contribution to EXFOR

• EXFOR, a database of experimental nuclear reaction data, is supported by the NRDC network.
