VLPGO is a voluntary initiative of the world's largest Power Grid Operators, representing together more than 60% of the electricity demand in the world, whose mission is:
To develop an international consensus on strategic issues and a common vision (through information exchanges, collaborative projects) with respect to the technologies and best practices required to address those issues.
Different working groups:
• sharing lessons learned1: Synchophasor
• 2.a: Costs for Power System Security• 2.b: Electrical Power System Restoration• 2.c: Equipment & Installation Overstress
2: Security
• Exploration of the existing tools and techniques
• New solutions to integrate renewable based generation
3: RenewablesIntegration
•How demand response is currently treated in different operating procedures
•Explores future operating needs

Conclusions
ENTSOE is, for TSOs in Europe, the absolute reference and field of
work, with a clear mandate to contribute and facilitate the Internal
Electricity Market.
Other voluntary associations and initiatives have been created dealing
in particular with integration of power systems in the Mediterranean
bassin.
In order to achieve efficiency TSOs needs to address work in these
initiatives by taking advantage of the performed analysis and forums
and not duplicating efforts as well as being aware of regional
particularities.
