GUIDELINES FOR WORK COMPLETED WHILE STUDENT IS IN ACADEMICALLY GIFTED CLASSES (p.B19 of BOE

Policies)• An academically gifted student's day at an AG center or portion of day in AG

classes is in fact the student's academic day. Work sheets, etc., completed by students remaining at the home school will not be required to be "made‑up" by students who are not in class because they are receiving academic instruction at another location.

• Academically gifted students will not be responsible for class work completed or homework assigned the day/class period they are at the center/AG class.

• Teachers in the regular classrooms should gear their instruction only to the students who are present (high‑average group, average group, low group, etc.).

• Classroom teachers should continue to teach skills and concepts; to practice skills previously taught; to teach creative writing; or to provide enrichment to the students present.

• Teachers should use the lesson designed to provide an effective focus and review on the following day for any lessons they teach. AG students will be able to grasp the new skill or information quickly. The usual monitoring of independent activities for those lessons will assure the teacher that the concepts or skills have been learned.
