1998 Symposia on Topology, CMS Winter Meeting, Kingston. At the time,this was the largest meeting in CMS history with almost 400 attendees.I was chief organizer of four sessions in different areas of topologyat this meeting: Differential Geometry and Global Analysis (M Min-Oo and M Wang), Homotopy Theory (L Langsetmo and R Shank),Set-theoretic Topology (J Steprans and S Watson), Symplectic/Low-dimensional Topology (S Boyer, J Hurtubise and F Lalonde). Therewere 61 speakers in the four sessions.

Since the mid 1980s, I have served as a referee for many journals, including theCanadian Mathematical Bulletin, Transactions of the American Mathematics So-ciety, Forum Mathematicorum, and the Journal of Algebra. I have also refereedfor various conference proceedings, including Fields Institute Proceedings on Ho-motopy Theory, and the 1994 Barcelona Algebraic Topology Proceedings. I havealso refereed various proposals for NSERC and EPSRC. In addition, I acted as anassociate editor for the Comptes Rendus/Mathematical Reports of the Academy ofScience of Canada from 1986–1989.
