Stephen began as a sign writer. Given the responsibilityto run the production side of the business at Sign Tec hewas eventually granted the opportunity to manage thecompany under the supervision of the accountantsworking for the parent company. Stephen excelled in hisrole under extremely difficult circumstances andcompetition with his former boss. Stephen's drive andambition to progress eventually led him to make a careerchange in order to adapt and improve his core skills inconcept design and presentation. Having alreadyachieved a City & Guilds qualification in AutoCAD Stephenfound an opportunity to improve his skills through therole of an architectural technician. Excited at the prospectof a more comprehensive education and development inthis new role Stephen pursued both employment andeducation in order to realise his own potential and spentthree years working full time and studying part time toachieve his goal and become a well roundeddraughtsman.

Established in 2004, Blu-3 (UK) Ltd. is an award-winning, multi-disciplined civil engineering and utilities specialist company.
Prepared applications for Section 50 Licences
Prepared applications requesting quotes from utilities providers.
Prepared utilities schematics using AutoCAD, amending plans and using X-Refs.
Collating data from various sources to produce project files and keep colleagues
informed of project progress.

Saach Interiors is a fledgling company that is currently under development. The parent company; Image 22 is based
in Hayes, Middlesex and produces bespoke furniture in the form of fitted kitchens, bedroom furniture and home
office furnishing. Image 22 is essentially a cabinet makers, but also offers carpeting and timber flooring. The Saach
showroom will also be looking to compete with local carpet fitters.

Smith Baxter Chartered Surveyors & Construction Consultants Ltd September 10 - March 11 Architectural Technician
Smith Baxter Ltd. is primarily a Chartered Surveyors. However, the staff comprises of surveyors,
CDM administrators, engineers and technicians who endeavour to provide a one stop shop
for developers and the general public alike.
Prepared drawings for planning approval.
Prepared drawings for building control.
Prepared applications to local authorities.
Worked primarily with members of the public on residential projects; including loft
conversions, extensions and refurbishment including basement design.
Worked with a housing association to provide communal areas for the elderly. Some
DDE work required.
Quoted and advised existing and potential clients.

This is an international firm based in Turkey. They manufacture and distribute electrical

Work Experience
HLM Architects, Guildford January 08 – April 08 Trainee Architectural Technicia
HLM is a large architectural firm comprising of offices in London, Guildford, Belfast and
Glasgow. They primarily deal with healthcare and educational contracts. However, they also
design prisons and emergency service buildings. They have around 180 staff nationwide and
practice both at home and abroad.
Learnt MicroGDS Software for draughting plans, elevations, sections and details etc.
Created general arrangement plans, ceiling plans, demolition plans
Worked on sections, details, elevations and plans for a glazed link bridge
Arranged meetings with subcontractors
Projects included refurbishment work on St Charles Community Hospital and the
design of Hartridge High School in Newport.

DLK Chartered Architects, Maidenhead August 07 – December 07 Trainee Architectural Technician
This firm was a medium sized practice comprising of two architects, two technologists, two
Part 3 qualified junior architects, a designer and a secretary. My role as a trainee technician
included:
Liasing with clients, contractors, engineers and site agents
Attending meetings between the chief architect and clients
Transporting files to the chief architect using my own vehicle
Site surveying including measurement, levels, services and photography
Drafting plans, elevations, site plans and proposed works
Writing up specification documents for tender
Tendering
Dealing with the local authorities respectively

Arch-Tech Architectural Consultants Ltd, Crondall September 05 – August 07 Trainee Architectural Technician
This was a small practice comprising of three technologists (two of which were managing
directors), one junior engineer and a designer. My role as a trainee architectural technician
included:

Site survey including measurement and services
Drafting plans and elevations and Writing up specifications
Dealing with the local authorities respectively
Work Experience
Sign-Tech was a small sign writing firm that offered a range of services to commercial
companies, local businesses and the local community. These included shop signs, vehicle
livery and various advertising products. The parent company associated was a facilities
management contractor with a number of well-known clients.
