The Kingfisher spies a tasty catch, a lightening snatch from branch to snack, the rustle and shimmer of a canopy in green, fresh water trout dart and flash beneath gossamer silk, the chatter of pebbles caressed by watery fingers, as dappled light flows from country to city and out to sea...

//RECENT PROJECTS “TOTEM” Manchester University, UK.

First Prize in international competition to design an 11m high glass sculpture for the world famous John Rylands Library, Manchester University, UK. Design encompasses a selection of images from the extensive archive of early books and manuscripts. Created to fill a 12m high blank wall inside the atrium area of the new entrance to the Library, the artwork utilizes a colour palette based on the vernacular colour scheme of the building. The design was developed in conjunction with a team of advisors from the University Library who were able to provide a collection of reference images to be used in the final design. This collaborative process proved to be very fruitful in helping to make the design very site specific, and to place it in its proper context within the building. Materials and techniques The glass sculpture is fabricated in hand etched and painted antique glass bonded to fifteen low iron glass laminated panels, with a digital interlayer, back lit with low voltage LED lights. Each panel is held in place 30mm off the wall with stainless steel brackets. Artist and Project Manager Derek Hunt

“THE ARCHWAY PROJECT” Arts Trail across five Lincolnshire churches

Five stained glass installations in five rural churches in Lincolnshire in collaboration with the Lincolnshire Poet Laureate Joel Stickley, for the Council for the Care of Churches. Together, we created a meaningful response to each location in the form of a stained glass window, which included a bespoke poem by Joel. These installations formed an Arts Trail leading the visitor to explore and discover each new location by finding clues in the artwork. Materials and techniques The glass sculpture fabricated in traditional stained glass, with a digital interlayer. Each panel contains a poem and imagery particular to the history of the location. Artist and Project Manager Derek Hunt in collaboration with Joel Stickley.
