SPECIAL THANKS......to Glenn Kirchhoff and Merlyn Pohlmann who represented Peace as our delegates at the Annual LCMC Gathering held

in Omaha September 29 - October 2. They shared a report on page 11 of this newsletter.

...to Kim Ruhnke who finished painting the S.S. hallway with the Jesus mural and ceiling (4 coats!). The color turned out very

nice. There is still the short hallway and the elevator hallway (and ceilings) that could be painted if someone

else would be willing to volunteer or assist. Just talk to the church office.

...to the Schnakenberg family who created the beautiful outside fall display. Thank you so much!!! It adds a nice touch to

THANKSGIVING FEAST...It’s been 16 years since Peace Lutheran Church hosted their 1st Thanksgiving Day

dinner for those who don’t have plans for the holiday and would enjoy the

fellowship and joy that comes from dining with friends and family in a festive

setting. Many people in our community, and even surrounding communities,

have expressed their gratitude and heartfelt thanks for this opportunity to share in

a Thanksgiving Day meal with others.

If you know at this time that you’d like to come, please RSVP to the church office

at #402-365-7746, or sign-up on the sheet that will be forthcoming on the church

bulletin board. If you’d be able to help with potatoes (mashed and sweet),

stuffing, salad, dessert, vegetables, or rolls please indicate that when you sign-up

or call. RSVP is appreciated, but not required. We need volunteers for set-up, decorating and clean-up, so please

consider calling the church office and offering a little help with that.

We are blessed to be a blessing........to one another!!!

Winter Weather Closing Policy

Because of the high priority we place on gathering for worship and ministry activities each week, Peace Lutheran Churchhas rarely closed due to hazardous weather. However, if we do have a heavy snowfall, ice, or other severe winter weatherconditions, we observe the following practices:

On Weekdays: If the Deshler Schools either cancel classes or dismiss earlyfor inclement weather, then all daytime, afternoon and evening activities atPeace Lutheran Church will be cancelled, too. The office may be opened ifit is safe for staff to venture out. Exception: If there is a funeral on the dayof a weather closing day, any decisions about postponement will be madein consultation with the church office, family, and the funeral home. Theanswering machine will carry any announcements concerning closing, andnotices will be posted on the Peace Lutheran website and on TV stationslisted on this page.

For any cancellations related to Peace Preschool: Parents of students areadvised to consult their handbook for the standing policies related toweather closings.

On Weekends and Church Holidays: If there is a winter storm warning orother hazardous weather on these days, any schedule changes will bedetermined by the Pastor and Council President by 7 AM on Sundays andannounced as soon as possible on the church answering machine, websiteand TV stations listed on this page. It may not be possible to getannouncements to all media about Saturday evening changes, but if aSaturday evening service is cancelled we will at least try to put anannouncement on the Peace answering machine.

Reminder: Local weather and driving conditions can vary widelythroughout the towns and countryside served by Peace Lutheran Church. Regardless of where you live, please make good, safe decisions abouttraveling to church in winter weather. Let common sense and safety be yourguide. Even if services continue for those who can make it, others may findit safer to stay off the roads and worship at home when severe storms are inprogress. Adopted: March 10, 2015
