General Items to Note: 1. Filters in classrooms will be changed on a rotation by the school custodian.
* All other filters will be replaced and maintained by the Maintenance department.
2. Ceiling tiles will be replaced by the School Custodian. *If the ceiling tile cannot be
reached with an 8’ ladder, Maintenance will complete after a work order is submitted.
3. The Head Custodian/School Administrator is the direct supervisor of all other school
custodians.
4. The School Administrator, with the aid of the Head Custodian, will complete all custodial
evaluations, with re-occurring checklists and at the end of the year, a summative
evaluation.
5. The school administrator will complete the Head Custodian evaluation at the end of the
school year.
6. When a Maintenance Work Order is placed by either the Head Custodian or School
Administrator they should copy all parties involved.
7. Please fill out the Maintenance Survey when possible.

Daily/Weekly Maintenance for Office Areas
(Cleaning Specifications) All office areas will be cleaned, mopped, vacuumed, and sanitized daily during the
180 student days. Teacher workdays is a great time to catch up
or complete a deep clean of an assigned area.
Daily Offices:
Pick up trash and empty all wastebaskets (replace liners if food is present)
Dust horizontal surfaces with dusting cloth (ledges, desks, etc.)
Dust air vents/returns and any other items as needed
Clean glass and mirrors
Clean furniture as needed with cleaner and furniture polish (if needed)
Straighten furniture as needed
Clean any marks or graffiti from walls with general purpose cleaner
Clean, sanitize, mop, supply and perform restroom cleaning
(see pages 8-9 for restroom procedures)
Dust mop/sweep tile floors
Spot mop tile floors as needed with Neutral Cleaner
Vacuum all carpeted areas
Vacuum walk-off mats
Clean and sanitize water fountains
Clean lounge area thoroughly; wipe off tables, empty trash
Check light bulbs and report to supervisor
Check ceiling tiles and report to supervisor
Report vandalism to site administrator
Hallways:
Empty all wastebaskets and trash (replace liners if food is present)
Clean furniture as needed with cleaner and furniture polish (if needed)
Straighten furniture
Wipe window ledges with dusting cloth

Clean, sanitize, and deodorize all fixtures with disinfectant (toilets, toilet bowls, urinals,
and sinks)
Clean mirrors with glass cleaner
Clean partitions
Spot clean walls
Clean marks of graffiti from all surfaces with general purpose cleaner
Spray down restroom with disinfectant using the bathroom machine or mop/scrub
floors with germicidal disinfectant maintaining a clean odor at all times
Clean and re-supply expendable restroom dispensers
Check restrooms after each class change and supply as needed throughout the school
day
Report vandalism to site administrator
Weekly High dust for cobwebs dusting air vents/returns and any other items as needed
Check light fixtures for dust and bugs
Wipe exposed pipes with disinfectant
Clean all lockers
Remove fingerprints from doors, frames, light switches, kick plates, handles, railings,
and walls
Disinfect all wall surfaces (including stall partitions) and floors using the bathroom
machine

Change all filters in restrooms and locker areas

Procedure for Cleaning Restrooms with Bathroom Machine
1. Knock on door and announce your intention to clean the restroom.
2. First, lightly spray all fixtures with Neutral Disinfectant.
3. Check for any dusting of vents and ceilings that may be needed.
4. Clean light fixtures and mirrors with Glass Cleaner.
5. Using Neutral Disinfectant, spot clean all partitions; WIPE DOWN dispensers, sinks, toilets,
urinals and clean counter tops.
6. Clean wash basins, toilets, and urinals with Neutral Disinfectant.
7. Pick up all trash from floor and empty trash receptacle, wipe down trash receptacle with
Neutral Disinfectant.
8. Spray restroom floor with Neutral Disinfectant, then squeegee excess to floor drain.
9. Clean all equipment at the conclusion of each shift.

Daily/Weekly Maintenance for Gyms All gym areas will be cleaned, mopped, vacuumed, and sanitized daily
during the 180 student days. Teacher workdays is a great time to catch up
or complete a deep clean of an assigned area.
Daily Pick up trash and empty all wastebaskets (replace liners if food is present)
Dust mop the gym floor (clean corners where the gym floor meets the wall using a damp
rag)
Vacuum walk-off mats
Remove graffiti from all surfaces
Report vandalism to site administrator
Weekly Clean windows where necessary
Remove fingerprints from doors, frames, light switches, kick plates, handles, railings,
and walls
Extend bleachers, sweep and damp mop under bleachers to remove spills, trash and
debris. Wipe and clean bleachers. NOTE: This will be done immediately following all
activities when the bleachers have been extended.
Dust air vents/returns and any other items as needed
Floor crew will auto-scrub and high speed buff floors
Monthly
Change all filters in gym areas

Pick up trash/litter and empty all garbage receptacles (replace liners if necessary)

Weekly Survey exterior door entrances
Sweep or blow sidewalks, upper level and lower level with leaf blower
Wash off sidewalks with water if needed
Remove debris from curbing with leaf blower
Monthly/Yearly
Pressure wash areas that require attention (entrances, sidewalks, mobiles, exterior of
building, other areas as they are identified)

1. Sweep soil away from outside of entrances 2. Clean outside and inside floor mats 3. Sweep floor with untreated dust mop 4. Mix Renown #7 All Surface Neutral Cleaner in a mop bucket, spot wet-mop as needed,

1. Remove gum, etc., from floor surface 2. Sweep floor with untreated dust mop 3. Mix Renown #7 All Surface Neutral Cleaner in a mop bucket or automatic scrubber at
one ounce cleaner per gallon of cold water 4. Auto-scrub or mop floor and allow to dry (if mopping, change water often)
Hallways WEEKLY CLEANING

Cleaning & Restoring 1. Sweep floor with untreated dust mop 2. Mix Renown Renew Restorer in a mop bucket or automatic scrubber
Dilution in mop bucket is 32 ounces per gallon of cold water
Dilution in automatic scrubber is 8 ounces per gallon of cold water 3. Auto scrub or mop floor and allow to dry (if mopping, change water often) 4. Dry burnish floor with high-speed buffer using Blue Blend Pad or Thermal Thunder Pad
Propane Burnisher
Electric High Speed Burnisher
NOTE: The cleaning/restoring procedure is recommended approximately once monthly, the first week of each month.
Deep Scrubbing & Recoating 1. Remove gum, etc., from floor surface 2. Sweep floor with untreated dust mop 3. Mix Renown Neutral Floor Cleaner or if condition requires heavy deep scrubbing use
(Renown Citrus Cleaner Degreaser) in a mop bucket or automatic scrubber at four to six ounces per gallon of cold water, depending upon the condition of the existing floor coating
4. Apply solution very liberally onto floor, allow to dwell ten minutes 5. Agitate with floor machine, a deep scrub pad or brush is recommended 6. Pick up slurry with wet-vacuum or automatic scrubber 7. Rinse floor twice thoroughly with clean cold water, allow to dry 8. Recoat floor with Renown Ultra Durable Floor Finish and allow to dry
Three coats are needed in most areas
Heavy traffic areas may require additional coatings

Deep Stripping & Refinish
1. Remove gum, etc., from floor surface 2. Sweep floor with untreated dust mop 3. Mix Renown High Performance NR Floor Stripper at 1 part stripper to 4 parts water (32
ounces per gallon) for heavy stripping or 1 part stripper to 8 parts water (16 ounces per gallon of cold water) for medium to light stripping
4. Apply solution liberally to floor and allow to dwell for ten minutes (do not allow stripper solution to dry on floor)
5. Agitate solution with stripping equipment 6. Pick up slurry with wet vacuum 7. Mix Renown #7 All Surface Neutral Cleaner at 1 ounce per gallon of cold water, rinse
floor thoroughly 8. Rinse floor one or two additional times with clean cold water and allow to dry 9. Recoat floor with Renown Ultra Durable Floor Finish
Five coats are needed in most areas
