Authentic is how we wishyou would describe Vigier.Authentic because while industrialguitar manufacturers spend most of theirtime on marketing and paying musicians to playtheir guitars, we have devoted 20 years to soundresearch, technological developments, andmanufacturing improvements that respect tradition.Authentic because we have only one manufacturing site thatbuilds as many guitars in a year that an industrialmanufacturer does in a few days. This is why our guitars receivethe attention that an expert musician looks for in a professionalinstrument.Take a Vigier in your hands and you'll feel and hear it is Authentic.

The Excalibur Special is the luxury version of the Supra. Its flamed maple top gives it a littlemore heat and sustain. A colored headstock is available as a special order.
The Ultra Blues subtly merges the world of the classic single-coil and humbucker sound. Bothsingle-coils are like those on the Expert '63 while the bridge pickup is a Virtual PAF by DiMarzio.
The Excalibur Ultra is an alliance of nice looks and efficiency. With its set of EMG81 & 85 pickups, it embraces with ultra accuracy the clean, crunchy, or dirty soundsof all kinds of music.

Available in 4, 5, or 6 string, the Arpege is thestate of Vigier art. Its 10/90 neck-throughconstruction, combined with a laminated body, give this bass incredible response and makes itlightweight. Like on all Vigier basses, its pickupsare ultra dynamic with a wide frequencyresponse range. Its active electronic isessentially composed of a balance and 12 presetsounds made by two parametric equalizers.
Available in 4, 5, or 6 string, thePassion has the principal constructioncharacteristics of the Arpege model. Its main differences are the pickupsthat are set close together and theelectronic composed of a balance and aparametric equalizer. The sound of thePassion is unique and can bepercussive with a lot of room.
BODY• ComfortWhen we design the shape we keep in mind the harmony between the player and the guitar. The perfect balance of the instrument is achieved by aligning the neck withthe axis of the human body. Our guitars weigh approximately 3Kg and are undoubtedly one of the lightest in their category. So, for those who play spectacular, action filledconcerts, or just endlessly somewhere, we are positive that you'll appreciate the manageability and lightweight.
• WoodDepending on the models, we can use alder, maple, or ash. Selected in Europe's forests, these woods are real and solid. They are dried naturally for years in our factorybefore we cut them. The body is made up of only 2 center-joined pieces not 4, or sometimes even 7 pieces like industrial makers.
• FinishThe summit of quality is denoted in our finishes. Our master finisher sprays over 10 thin coats of varnish between numerous sanding procedures. In order to not oversealthe wood, we spray a minimum amount of varnish so it vibrates, yet enough to protect it for a long time just like on an acoustic instrument,. We wait at least one monthbefore final sanding and polishing is proceeded. That is state of the art. Please refer to the end of the catalog for each models standard color.
TREMOLOSLong before others, we built our own locking tremolo so we know what guitar virtuosos and heavy tremolo users need tostay in tune. Usually, the bridge's pivot system is fitted with knives but we decided to replace them with ball bearings andthis is exclusively used on Vigier. Once the knives are worn, there is no way the tremolo can come back to its originalposition because there is friction. When this happens you will have detuning problems. Our ball bearings can turn 10,000times per minute and so are impossible to wear.
• VIGIER® 2010 and 2017 tremolosThis non-locking tremolo is set on the Excalibur Supra, Special, Indus, Ultra and the Expert for guitarists that are lookingfor a rich and crunchy sound. The perfect tuning stability is also ensured through the locking machine heads that areprecisely aligned with the strings by our traditional zero fret and graphite string retainer. Another important detail, is theshort distance between the bridge saddle and the place where the string is anchored. Also, each saddle can be locked intoposition once intonation is set and a small roller is located at the string break point to minimize friction. The 2010 tremolo
has as much tuning stability as most guitars equipped with a regular Floyd Rose.
• VIGIER® Floyd Rose® licensed tremoloThis tremolo is available on the Excalibur Original and Custom models. It makes the guitar virtually undetunable. The only slight detuningproblem may occur from the string’s metal stretching! Also the tuning stability comes from the indispensable one piece locking nut and our zero fret that guarantees exact first fret actionheight and accurate tuning. For your playing comfort, the saddles are hand adjusted to precisely match the radius of the fingerboard. For your convenience, the angle of the tremolo arm can be set while you're playing and removed easily when you are not. Finally, theAllen keys have been neatly fitted at the rear of the headstock.
BRIDGES• BassesThis solid, quick-release bridge was specially designed to fit the Vigier bass series. To change strings, you simply liftthem away. The saddles are set in individual tracks and have independent height and intonation adjustment. To helpremove extraneous noise or unsetting problems, the saddles are locked into position once adjustments are complete.
• GuitarsSimilar to the Excalibur Surfreter, a flat mount fixed bridge is available on the Excalibur Supra & Special and the Expertguitars. It is fully adjustable and features through-body stringing. On the Marilyn model a solid bridge with a tailpiece combination has been fitted.
MACHINE HEADSWe use locking machine heads in combination with our 2010 & 2017 non-locking tremolos.
ELECTRONICSDepending on the model, we can fit passive or active electronics. Our commitment to offer the most up to date electronics dates back to 1983 when we earned our credibilityby being the first manufacturer to incorporate a microcomputer in our memory guitar.
• PickupsBefore any pickup is mounted on a Vigier it's entirely controlled. Each pole is adjusted so that the strings have a balanced output level. Another small, but important detailis that most standard humbuckers have two adjustment screws however, we took the time to add a third screw so that height or tilt adjustments can be made easily andan equal distance between the strings and the coils can be achieved.
• Pickup selection for the Excalibur® and Expert® series:• DetailsWe sprayed conductive paint inside the electronic cavity and depending on the model, the backplate or the pickguard to reduce hum when playing at high volumes.
All basses have active electronics with low battery consumption that give an autonomy of approximately 500 hours.
More details on the electronics and pickups are given on the technical specification chart.
STRINGSVigier strings are fitted on all of our instruments.

VIGIER® GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
NECKWe manufacture two types of necks: bolt-on for the Excess®, Excalibur® and Expert® series and a neck-through-body for the Arpege®, Passion® and Marilyn® series.
• ComfortThis is the master element of the guitars sound and comfort. It always receives particular attention every time we develop new concepts to improve its performance.Because the neck is hand finished, each one can be verified by our luthiers. They will make sure nothing was overlooked. And our reputation is proof that your hands willfeel it!
• WoodTo manufacture the neck, we use the same maple wood selected by great classical instrument makers for centuries. This woodis cut in Europe's forests and dried naturally for years before it will be used (7 years actually.) The humidity level is strictlycontrolled while it is stored.
• Fingerboard and fretsEach fingerboard is rectified to the one hundredth of a millimeter to ensure it's exceptionally straight. Frets will then be fitted, also rectified and polished meticulously. A Phenowood™ fingerboard is used on the neck-through-body models. Its physical strength and stability offer excellent wearresistance, high response, plus neat and accurate fretting.Traditional maple or rosewood fingerboards are your choice for the bolt-on neck models.
• Delta Metal™ fretless fingerboardFor the accomplished musician who wants to enter the discipline of fretless playing, we developed the Delta Metal fingerboard in 1979. Gold in color, it is immediatelystriking and features a hard surface that will stay even for a long period of time. It produces sustain comparable to fretted instruments and is rich in harmonics. Exclusivelyavailable on 4 string bass models and 6 string guitars.
• 10/90 Neck System™This exclusive advanced concept of 10% carbon and 90% wood replaces the traditional metal truss rod with a dense carbonstrip to reinforce the neck. Employed for over 15 years on all Vigier guitars and basses, this concept makes the neck strongand stable during climate change. To get a full sound, we never believed it was logical to drill a hole through a neck and theninsert a rod of metal inside. Necks with the 10/90 System are solid, notes ring longer and your sound is precise and powerful.Wood necks with truss rods are too flexible; they absorb the energy of the string and shorten sustain. Our 10/90 Neck Systemalso contributes to tuning stability because with wood necks, the metal truss rod rubs and causes detuning problems.
• Hardened zero fret technologyA zero fret has always been fitted on all of our instruments. This slightly higher fret balances open or fretted stringnotes, ensures perfect string height and minimizes string friction to help avoid detuning when using the tremolo. We'vebeen able to harden it so it lasts longer and make it removable so it's easier to replace if needed.
• Graphite string retainerOn guitars equipped with our non-locking tremolo a graphite string retainer is used to press the E and B string ontothe zero fret. This guarantees perfect tuning stability while using the tremolo.
• FinishIn order to completely protect it as well as enhance its feel and play, a mat varnish is sprayed on every bolt-on neck.
