of the Butler Family, Marquesses and Dukes of Or-monde. Due to major restoration works, the central block now includes a library, drawing room, and bed-rooms decorated in 1830’s splendour, as well as the beautiful Long Gallery. The old castle kitchen oper-ates as a tea room during the summer. A suite of for-mer servants’ rooms is the Butler Art Gallery, which mounts frequently changing exhibitions of contempo-rary art.” Travel onto Waterford and visit the House of Water-ford Crystal: The Visitor Centre is a true centre of excellence boasting a splendid new showroom where the many prestigious pieces presented to presidents, sports stars and celebrities are showcased. Dinner and overnight in Waterford. DAY 5: Friday, Oct. 9 First stop this morning is Cobh Heritage Centre: A dramatic exhibition of the origins, history and legacy of Cobh, a unique Irish port town, which recalls the many historic events associated with the town. From 1845 to 1960 over 2.5 million adults and children emi-grated from Ireland via Cobh on coffin ships, early steamers and finally on the Great Ocean Liners. Con-vict ships first sailed from Cobh in 1791 bound for Australia and when Queen Victoria first stepped ashore there on her visit to Ireland in 1849, the town was renamed in her honour. Relive the dramas of the ill-fated Lusitania and the Titanic which called at Queenstown – her last port of call. Then onwards through the countryside of County Waterford and Cork to Blarney Castle. This historic Castle is situat-ed near Cork in the village of Blarney and is world famous for the Blarney Stone, which has the tradition-al power of conferring eloquence on all who kiss it. The word ‘blarney’ was introduced into the English language by Queen Elizabeth I who used it to describe pleasant and entertaining conversation that was possi-bly not all true. Drive to Killarney. Dinner and over-night in Killarney.
